Introduction: Beaded Mouse Keyring
this instructable will show you how to make a beaded mouse keyring. these are a simple and quirky way to decorate you keyring and are easy to make.
Step 1: Materials and Equiptment
to make this you will need; 2x regular pliers, cutting pliers, 40cm of thin wire, a keyring, a jump ring, 2x crimps, 2x black seed beads, 6x pink seed beads and 58x brown seed beads. all the beads must be the same size. i used size 9 beads.
Step 2: Starting Off
open up the jump ring and put it on the key ring. close the jump ring. thread the wire through the jump ring so that it is in half. thread a crimp onto the two wires and crimp it.
Step 3: The Nose
lay the keychain on a flat surface with the wires towards you. thread 2 pink beads onto one of the wires then pass the other one through in the opposite direction. pull firmly. make sure the beads are centred before continuing the next row. using the same technique, make a row with 3 brown beads. the next row is a brown, black, brown, black then a brown bead.
Step 4: The Ears
thread on 9 brown beads and 2 pink beads onto one of the wires and slide them to the end. thread the same wire through the last 3 brown beads in the same direction as it passed through the first time(make a loop) and pull tight. thread one more brown bead onto the wire and pass it back through the first bead (the one closest to the head, opposite direction this time). do the same for the other wire to make the other ear.
Step 5: The Body
using the same technique as the first rows and using only brown beads now, complete these rows; 5 beads, 3 beads, 4 beads, 5 beads, 5 beads, 4 beads then 6 rows of 1 bead. be careful when you are decreasing to make sure the beads stay centred otherwise the mouse will end up crooked.
Step 6: Finishing Up
thread both through a crimp and crimp it. trim the excess wire and you are done! i hope you have fun making these and keep an eye out for more as i will post some different patterns up shortly.
