I am looking for a cheap and relatively simple design for an enclosed horse pen ( like pictrured below). the pen is already exsisting and we just need to build a roof for it. the diameter is 29 feet and the roof will need to be able to support up to 3 feet of snow or be angled enough that snow can flow off. Nmearly anything helps Thanks, Zach

Deworming difficult horse

I have a horse that made deworming extremely difficult by flipping his nose or raising his head too high. I had an "aha" moment. I started bridling him and before the bit was completely in I quickly slipped the dewormer in. Worked like a charm.

Trojan horse for macs in the wild

Uhoh.A trojan horse for MACS has been spotted: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/06/23/mac_trojan/It can take screenshots, log keystrokes, or (and here's the scariest bit) take pictures of you while on your computer through the built-in camera. Yikes!Be careful, all you apple users! You have a security concern to worry about ("a" trojan to worry about. As opposed to windows users...) ! Stay off Limewire and iChat. Lock your ports at night, and don't chat with strangers!

Motor Help for Horse Walker

Hi ppl,Somewhat just agreed to help a friend and his family build a 'horse walker'!I know sounds weird but they want to have a go at building one rather than buying one. Basically as none of them know about electronics they asked for my help.....And now i ask for yours......Now i assume that the motor will run from mains, will have to be pretty beefy, if anyone has ideas on this please link me!Next, speed control, i can probably acquire a relay module from my dad (electronic engineer) and program a micro processor to turn the motor on and off for set periods of time to exercise the horses. Whats the best way of getting speed control?Thanksdrummerianhttp://www.show-jumps.co.uk/horse-walker.jpg

Paracord braided horse halter

Hi, I have challenged myself to make a braided paracord halter and I need LOTS of help.  I found one online that I really like and would like to duplicate.  I purchased a book "How to Braid Quality Custom Tack", however the halters in this book are not quite what I want.  Hoping someone will be able to give me some pointers or tell me where to find the directions I need. The picture of the halter I have attached is what I want to make.  It appears to me that you would need to start with the nose band to make this work but none of the patterns I have found start that way. Help!!

Pommel horse revisited: How do I construct a pommel horse?

Assuming I have the the means to obtain the required materials Pommel horse revisited: Assuming that hardware can be obtained, i.e, the core,  be circular tubing, solid steel or wood core, hallow construction( example, think of a construction a post using 4 2' x 4', ergo a hallow post),  pommel handles, the polyethylene foam, the vinyl or leather covering, the leg supports, be they wood, square or circular tubing, and the necessary tools ( wood/welding) how is a pommel horse made to closely match a regulation pommel horse http://visual.merriam-webster.com/sports-games/gymnastics/gymnastics/pommel-horse.php(not a trainer)? Answers should include the following:  Feel free to add to this list as I am sure it isn't complete in your answer. Construction materials and hardware used to construct the pommel horse, aside from the aforementioned basics. i.e, use of a solid core like 4 8'x8' posts, a circular tube, or variations to achieve the desired dimensions/ If the design includes the bread loaf taper, how was this achieved? How the pommels were attached and the hardware used.    If the pommels are fabricated how was this done, but lets assume they will be purchased. Variations of supporting base structure is acceptable. Answers need to include how supporting base is attached to the horse and what hardware or means of attachment are used.     A. If leg supports are adjustable, by way of circular tubing or square tubing with holes that can be locked into place, are they prefabricated?      a1. How were the adjustable height leg supports constructed. For example, Think of sliding a smaller pipe into lager one, or square tubing for that matter.        a2. How were the legs secured in this configuration to compensate for possible lack of rigidity/support?  Clamped B. If legs or wood and adjustable, how is this achieved and by what means, for instance, drilled holes and wooden dowels or longboats, etc...      Thanks to all those who dive into this. I've searched patents, several hundred search engines and archives and found all but nothing.

Recycle old spring horse into rocking horse....is bracing needed or what?

The childs weight and energy on a spring horse is spread out by the springs. I want to put wooden rockers on a spring horse and remove the springs etc. Would the horse collapse under the child ? How would I brace up the inside of the horse ? How would I attach the hollow plastic feet to the wooden rocker? I have cut off the mane and tail to put in a real horse mane and tail so I do have limited access to the inside of the horse. I have thought to line the inside with bondo /fibreglass and maybe fill the feet but I do not like that it is a not a green product and could off gas harmful components etc. Any suggestions would be appreciated. These spring horses were on the way to the dump so I was given them for free and wish to do something really neat with them. I have some glass elk eyes to insert and wish to make a leather saddle and bridle. Fun Times! Thanks for any help.

advice for a simple sturdy saw horse design, please?? Answered

Having recently moved into a new home, I should get down and try some simple DIY for myself without having to book the handyman.  First thing I should make is a work bench, or a saw bench (hand saw only) I searched for sawhorses and found several, but: I have a lower-spine injury that means I can't bend too much or for too long; I don't have much back, shoulder or arm strength, so sawing is an ordeal - more of an ordeal is trying to keep the damn wood still - at the moment it skates all over the place, i can't even cut 1x1s.  So I'd need to fit something that'd hold the wood still and be able to use both hands on the saw.   Would anyone have any ideas?  maybe a slight tweak to an existing model that would help me?  I'd want to cut flat wood later, but at the moment I need to cut the frames, 1x1s and 2d2s. I'd love to have a table saw, it'd be so much easier to cut with, but ... I'm also visually impaired and have never used a power tool other than a drill, and I sort of like my fingers where they are, attached to my hand!  And my vision also don't help me to get a good position to saw effectively; i have to get close to see what i'm doing. So really, I need a sawhorse high enough that i don't have to bend too much, but low enough that I can put what weight i have into my shoulder.  Know I'm asking a lot, but does anyone have any [polite!!!] suggestions? Thanks HelenaTroy

Hydraulic or air powered carousel horse, is it possible?

I have a niece who is fond of carousel rides, and I wanted to try to make her a fun ride.  Is it possible to have a hydraulic system (Like the ones they use in lowriders, perhaps...) or air pump be used to raise and lower a carousel horse while someone is sitting on it?  My initial idea is this... I turn a switch on starting the pump, and the horse slowly raises up about 1 foot... turn the switch off, and the horse goes back down, repeat, etc....  Anyone knowledgeable who could help me with this?  Thank you!

How do I construct a pommel horse? Answered

I would like to know how to construct a pommel horse.  Plans on how to do so would be great.  The required materials, instructions, photos would be fantastic as well.  This is for home use only.  Adjustable legs, for height variations would be a bonus and and ability to use is securely on the floor without legs would be nice as well.  I am not particular on the materials, inexpensive, rather affordable would be a bonus. Functionality is whats really important.

How does Smooth-On's Feather Lite urethane resin compare to their Smooth-Cast 300 resin?

I want to cast my original horse sculptures, but since I don't have a roto-cast machine, I'll have to solid-cast the models. I'm a fan of draft horses, so my 1:9 scale horses will be rather large and bulky. This would be heavy if I did a solid-cast with normal resin, which would make shipping prices escalate, so I'm thinking the feather-lite would be a better choice. I'm worried about its ability to replicate fine details, and in the model horse hobby, it's all about the fine details and the quality of the cast. What is the quality of the resin like compared to their other resins, and how well does it replicate the original sculpt? Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Thank you for the gift horse! Hey, what's that in its mouth?

A few months ago I entered an instructable that placed in both the Robot Challenge and the Make it Real challenge and have been having some, well, odd experiences with the prizes.  I've received all of the Robot challenge prizes, plus some. I was sent an extra pocket oscilloscope and arduino uno! O.o That's about $200 in extra loot and I would think you would like me to return it. I sent an email about this to service@instructables.com last week, but have yet to get a response. As for the Make it Real prize, I went back and forth with info@instructables.com for about a month and eventually was linked some kind of e-document for me to e-sign. That was about two weeks ago and I haven't heard anything since. I know you all have had some kind of re-organizing in the prize department, is the dust still settling? I certainly don't mind the wait, but when I got the double prize pack I felt that I should come here and let you know, as this is the only contact option I haven't tried. BTW: thanks again for the prizes, it has been a huge boon for me. I hope we can get all this recombobulated.
