Scent Pendant

I know the title must sound odd, but this is actually a sappy, and in my opinion original gift idea for a female. Said female is significant. Need I say more? Anyways, I was wondering if there was a material that held a scent particularly well other than just normal fabric or something. Here's the idea: Have a pendant: small or large, really doesn't matter, that I can spray with my cologne, since she really enjoys it, it will hold the scent? ' This is just an idea, I did a little research to no avail, because I realized that this was just a little.. odd. XD Would really appreciate some fellow brainstormers. If worst comes to worst I was thinking I could actually take some of the cologne and have it in an intricate little glass vial and hang it from a pendant. Thanks all for your time and consideration, Roddie

Change pendant light bulb?

I have three teardrop pendant lights over my counter; one light bulb burnt out. I tried to change the bulb but it does not screw in - not sure what type of bulb this is? Really, I've changed light bulbs forever, but can't figure this one out. Search You Tube and DIY for a video but only found typical light bulbs or recessed lights. Your help is much appreciated.

Pendant light: how to make this one

I need a creative lighting solution to replace an old pull chain fixture-there is no switch in the wall to turn it on and off.  I would like to safely build a light similar to the ones pictured.  I have rewired lamps in the past and this seems like it might be a similar project, but with a few adjustments like the addition of strain relief components. I have found several companies that sell keyed sockets with uno threads to attatch shade holders. There are also great reproduction cloth covered wires available. I have 2 great glass 2 1/4" shades I would love to use. Ideally I would like to have 2 lights that can be operated by a key in their sockets so that the can be turned on and off individually.  I would like to run the wires through the same canopy and have them connected to the same box where the previous light was. Can anyone help me with this?

LEDs that get brighter when they're closer.

Ohkay, so I have an idea for a cute gift. The idea is to make two heart pendants that get brighter depending on how close they are to each-other. The problem is, I have no idea how to go about the dimming aspect. I've never even held a soldering gun, let alone used one. But I'd be willing to pick it up for this if I had a good tutorial/instructable to go off of. Even a general idea of what to look into would be great. I've seen similar things like the WiFi detector t-shirt at ThinkGeek, but again I'm a n00b when it comes to this stuff, so I don't know how useful that is when applied to something like this. Any help would be much appreciated, this is most definitely a burning question that's been bothering me.

What is this type of fastening called and what does it fasten to? Answered

This belonged to my grandmother (the clasp looks post 1930). I assume there would have been some kind of hinged cover over the watch face  (a hinge and catch  are circled). I don't know what the double fanged clip like  thing on the back is called or what it is for.  The double 'fangs' look somewhat like an upholstery pin.  Given that the front is a watch, and one needs to see a watch for it to be useful.... what would this be stuck into or clipped onto?   Anyone familiar with this style?

Resin help! - Wrapping paper came off/marked resin on pendants - How to rescue/polish off? Answered

I made these 4 pendants with pictures inside a bezel filled with resin on top, and though two pendants are fine, the other two must not have been totally dry and the wrapping paper came off a little on the resin and looks very bad. It was a present so I want to try to get rid of the paper somehow, I thought maybe by polishing? I have no idea how to polish it and I'm just afraid of using a polish that is not fine enough and leaving a misty/cloudy appearance, it is suppose to be very glossy. Would really appreciate any help thanks! :/

Melting Tin Alloy to make pendant jewelry

I've made several attempts to melt down a tin alloy metal (92% tin, 8% antimony) to make pendants; small pendants for necklaces. I haven't had any luck with this at all!  The mold has been cast - the metal has been chosen but...my process isn't working. I'm using a hot plate and a small teflon pan to melt the metal. The problems I'm running into are: Once I melt the alloy, I can't get it into the mold before it starts cooling.  It pours out too quickly from the pan, then cools too quick to finish pouring.  It's a small mold (1 3/4" diameter with 1/8" lines) which isn't helping I'm sure.  Not sure on a couple things I'm hoping somebody who know more about this than I do could possibly make some suggestions. I don't know if I should be using a flux to keep the metal clean because it is getting dirty after the melting. I don't know how to get it from the pan to the mold before it cools? Someone, I'd imagine, must have come out with a tool for transferring small amounts of metal to molds.  I tried a glass eye dropper today but didn't have any luck with the transfer process.  Not sure if a crucible and flux is the way to go or not. If so, does anybody know of a good company that has items designed for this type of work? Any and all help / info / suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!  Thank you

So, EMF blocking Stickers, Pendants or Death-Crystals? Answered

Uh, how to start with this one... Local health store started carrying the latest line of emf blocking stickers and pendants. At first I thought good grief, if people are that gullible as to not look into the science behind they perhaps deserve to have there money parted from them. Several weeks later though, a symposium was booked in the local convention hall. I was surprised to learn how many people actually went to this, and were indeed parted with a fair chunk of change. If you look into to it there are numerous if not hundreds of these anti-emf scams abound on the internet all claiming only theirs works... That alone would send my spidey senses tingling. I really don't want to get in to the science behind why this is a scam, and would appreciate answers from people who know what they are talking about rather then those have been duped. Moving on... I am afraid the owner of the health store is going to get slammed on this one eventually. Normally I would say the owner of the store has a good head on her shoulders with an excellent BS sensor. Not so much, this time around. Guess my question would be how to inform her of why its a scam with out her eyes rolling into the back of her head. "Had a friend go the symposium for kicks, "she has a doctorate in bio-engineering, health science and is pursing her latest degree in occupation health sciences." To her shock and delight it was simple for her to see through the scam, but she had to admit his did provide a technical sounding argument, mixing truth with techno babble, that perhaps someone with an understanding of only layman’s terms could be persuaded by. Oh, what to do...

Problem with number of views

And the number of view on the result page didn't move for more than to weeks, even if my Instructable get more views. Is that a problem with my PC or with the web site, and how can I fix it ? I tried to clear my browser cache, but it didn't change anything... Thank you in advance :) Win7 x64, Google Chrome

Beautiful reuse ideas

Inhabitat is in the middle of its Spring Greening Competition and now has a list of finalists up that can be voted on. There are lots of great ideas for inspiration here. I especially liked the pendant lamp made from poptabs and the inner tube bookshelf (big surprise, I know). Another design that looks good and oddly familiar is the vase made from a light bulb. champagne topper jewelry

On our wedding night my wife and I had a bottle of Vieve Cliquot champagne. I still have the topper that holds the cork to the bottle. I can imagine it being made into a bracelet or pendant for my wife but would have no idea how to go about it. If anybody has any ideas I would appreciate it. The topper has a portrait of the widow cliquot on it and reminds me of a cameo. Our five year anniversary is coming at the end of this month and I would love to make her something out of this for it.

How to repair a piece of metal jewelry without soldering.? Answered

I have part of a necklace my mother used to own (the pendant part) that has a broken area(a gap) where you attach the jump ring to the piece. The jump ring I attached is probably thick enough where the pendent won't fall off, but I don't want to take the chance. It has swarovski(sp?) crystals and I'm afraid the heat from soldering would ruin the stones.
