I was bored and was looking around for some new themes and found this. It looks really good with my background and even better with the zune theme for firefox. I dunno, just thought I'd share it...

I was going to ask are you caught in the blackouts I'm seeing on the news? Dopey question. Anyhoo, if you're reading this after the power comes back on, how did you cope? What Instructables could you use to make life easier? UPDATE: And, if you're an engineer, could you design a better system where a single throw of a switch on a substation blacks out five million people, shuts down two nuclear reactors and even closes beaches? The outage was triggered after a piece of equipment was switched off at a substation in Arizona, officials said. ... Daniel Froetscher, a vice-president at APS, told the Associated Press news agency the malfunction at the substation was "not a deliberate act". "The employee was just switching out a piece of equipment that was problematic," Mr Froetscher said.

It seems today http://www.google.com/ turned it's lights out. I though it was an early April Fools but apparently its time for Earth Hour (which everyone should participate). My physics teacher has a black desktop background on his laptop to save battery life. I always tell his it doesn't work and that it might even do the opposite. We all know that for backlit displays this does not save any energy but does it waste energy? Anyone care to comment.PS. I admire Google for its Community service. I wish government was more like it.

We all believe that the health, eating black garlic black garlic on the market as a health food and supplements, the price is relatively high, in fact, at home, you can easily make black garlic, Here I will introduce two black garlic molding method for your reference. The first method: rapid generation of law Step 1: Prepare good garlic, three of each head of garlic wrapped in aluminum foil, Step 2: roasted on the stove above, just like on the street to do the kind of barbecue, 15 minutes, Step 3: Flip the back and then bake for 15 minutes, Step 4: steamed, placed in a pressure cooker inside the steam, steam cooked into about 30 minutes, Note: In the second step, if conditional, can be placed inside the oven baking, aluminum foil, can be placed in a plastic box inside, but slightly lid yo or evaporated dry.

I decided to make a comfort handle for my TNKIT round 2 entry, but I don't have any of those black wheels. I discovered you could do the same thing with green/black knex knobs. I have about 5 of these, and they make really comfy handles.

Hey everyone, I know it been a long, LONG, freakin time that I've been inactive. I have not posted any guns since the beginning of August 2012, but now I almost finished making a sniper concept. It is called the XPR 50, which is supposed to be a semi auto sniper featured in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. This isn't a real gun now, and there aren't any pictures of it in real life. I made the sniper from the picture in the black ops 2 game, which is in a really bad angle, with some parts of the gun distorted. I worked my butt off to make this, and this will be the first knex gun based on black ops 2. I didn't make the mag and the scope yet, so DON'T MENTION ABOUT IT!!!!!!

I have tried to make some sulfurless black powder by grinding 3 parts sodium nitrate (a potassium nitrate substitute, using this method to make it from ammonium nitrate) and 1 part charcoal (I tested it and it didn't burn good so I added more charcoal (probably making it a 2 KN03:1 C ratio)). It burns extremely slow (if i laid a pile of the bp that was 1/8 inch wide and 1 inch long it would probably take 5 or more seconds to burn all the way). I got the charcoal from a burned out bonfire (I don't know what type of wood it was but it wasn't willow or pine), I collected the black chunks that aren't all the way burned out. I am wondering what the problem is, is it the charcoal or the sodium nitrate? The sodium nitrate is in its purest form, thats what it said here.

Hi everyone, I finally got myself some black pipe for my project at a place where they would cut it for me. (No more EMT.) I have noticed that little bits of the black paint have come off (eg, at the place where I removed the pricing stickers) and that it is greasy all over (most probably from the pipe cutter I used at the store). I don't especially care about the condition of the paint, but want to be able to handle the pipe on a daily basis without getting greasy hands (or accumulating tiny fragments of paint all around my room and then ending up inhaling or eating them over the long term!). I guess that using water and soap on this will make it rust; how would you clean this? Thanks in advance for any advice! James

I want to get into pyrotechnics as a hobby, and i thought i would start with rocketry. So my questions are: What is the best for a lifting charge for fireworks or a rocket, very very fine particles, or coarse granules? i read somewhere on the internet that granules are best, but all over instructables it says to grind it really well. And also, would adding steel powder/magnesium powder to enhance the spark effects alter the BP? like would magnesium make it more sensitive? Please answer, Thanks.

This is kind of an odd one. I'm using a firearm for a movie firing blanks. Currently, it looks like this. http://www.valorcorp.com/images/products/1012048A.jpg I'd like it to look like this, mainly so that the camera can pick it up better, as a solid black finish won't register as well, and all the tiny inperfections will make it look more interesting. http://www.gunblast.com/images/SHOT2009/Day2/DSC05076.JPG It's the exact same gun, but some come "reliced" and others don't. I got a good deal on one that wasn't. I don't want to mess it up too bad, no big pitting or scratch spots, just rough the finish up a bit. Any ideas?

Ok so 40 years ago Stephen Hawking came up with the theory of Black holes and today they are not black but gray. It turns out that the black holes Hawking wrote about in 1974 — those places in the space-time continuum that can devour galaxies and even trap light forever — may not exist in the way that he proposed decades ago. So I read the paper. http://arxiv.org/pdf/1401.5761v1.pdf I found it a bit dry compared to A Brief History of Time but that is the life of a paper. I have always believed a theory is just that and no more, prone to evolve or be disproved with the advent of new theories and facts. After all it is just a theory and not a fact even though many of these theories enable us to the most amazing things. Which reminds me of a joke. A Canadian fisherman was down south fly fishing with an American fisherman that happen to be a marine biologist. Soon the Canadian fisherman caught a one pound brook trout and stated it was just a baby and threw it back. The American marine biologist not objecting to catch and release, objected to the Canadian calling a one pound Salvelinus fontinalis a baby. He explained to the Canadian fisherman that the Salvelinus fontinalis is genetically unable to grow larger than one pound. The Canadian fisherman retorted I catch five pounders in the Boyne River all the time and that was just a baby where he comes from. The American marine biologist objected to the Canadian calling a one pound Salvelinus fontinalis a baby. Again he explained to the Canadian fisherman that the Salvelinus fontinalis is genetically unable to grow larger than one pound. Not wanting to argue the Canadian fisherman let the subject lye and spent the rest of the day fishing throwing their catch back. At the end of the day they exchanged addresses and parted friends. A month later the American marine biologist received a parcel in the mail in it was a frozen five pound brook trout, distraught he began to write the Canadian fisherman a letter. “Dear Mr. Fuddel Duddel Thank you for the five pound specimen of the Salvelinus fontinalis, and thank you very much for ruining perfectly good science with a fact. Sincerely John Doe”

I'm trying to create a slow rotating tube within a tube light blocker for a black light fixture I have. The fixture measures 2inches by 2feet and is a fluorescent tube style. I want to be able to have the outer tube rotate around the light, have a slot cut into it so the light can come out but when it's past the light, the hole is blocked by an inner tube so no light escapes. I figure the RPM would be about 2-4. This is for Halloween. The inner tube would be fixed into position and the light fixture be attached to it. Does any of this make sense? If it does and you know of another project like this, please send me a link.

Hi, I'm trying to do a uni project and I'm not having much look at the moment. What I want is for the ink in the black cartridge to be a colour ink instead of black. It did seem to work but now it's not. I flushed the cartridge with water several times to clean it out and then placed magenta ink in and the first through prints it started to print the Magenta but then stopped and how all it seems to do is leak from the cartridge and flood the base. The printer is a HP 1220c using HP 45 Cartridge which has the print head on the actual cartridge. Can anyone suggest anything? Thanks Phil
