Is Borderlands more "FPS-ish" than Fallout 3? Answered

Hi guys, I didnt really get into Fallout 3 because I just didnt like the way the game works. I think it's a bit too RPG based, which isn't a bad thing, but I bought it as a shooter. Is Borderlands more like a shooter with RPG prinicples, or a RPG with some FPS features? Thanks

Would anyone be able to make a loot chest/locker from borderlands the game?

Borderlands has very interesting loot chest/lockers, and I think it would be a great idea to try and build some of them. Like the way they open up are amazing. It would be a great idea to make as a actual storage unit. I will be doing some research myself, but I am a noob at this. so it would be easier if someone with experience would be able to build one.

Could someone please help me and make it I've been trying to make one of these things for literally years lol... your help would be a life saver... I've attached a picture of the mask I'm trying to make as well as a link to the pepakura site where in the gallery if you search Borderlands the Mask pepakura file you can use as a template will show up! My PC all of a sudden lags on all games.

Here's what happened. I got on today and started up MW2 on my PC. I had just installed a new mod, so i thought nothing of it when it lagged down to 20 FPS, perhaps, when it usually runs at 40-60 FPS. I got bored eventually and went to organize my PC, which included uninstalling a lot of old programs and making new folders. I decided to play borderlands when I was done. I noticed there was a considerable difference in frame rate from the previous day. Same thing with all of my other games, Minecraft, HL2 and all others. The only thing i did overnight was install that MW2 mod through bittorrent ( don't worry, it's legal. Alteriwnet, google it.) I've played around with my GFX card, AMD Raedeon 6540, and no dice. I've played with the clock in catalyst to no avail. I've installed game booster and boosted, but i can't get the lag to go away. The best results I've had are ending one of the 2 processes named wininitt.exe. My FPS almost got back to normal. I Think it has something to do with graphics, as nothing else is really slowed down. Also, I've tried uninstalling the MW2 mod. I played around with my windows 7 theme, too. PC specs Intel i5-2400@3.10 GHz Dual core 4 GB ram AMD Raedeon HD 6450 GFX Windows 7 Home premium -NYPA -Update The lag has been abolished. I don't know how, but it's gone. I did not touch my computer for a long time, iI guess to wait it out, but i'm not the only user of my computer, so it was used. Protips for people coming to this thread because they have the same problem, Scan for viruses Do regular HDD cleaning, i.e defragment, delete old files, registry clean. Lower GFX settings Update drivers Clean the computer's internals -NYPA

why does my computer (a gateway NV52) keep shutting down at random times? Answered

It seems to only shutdown when i play games that require a lot of power like borderlands or SC2. It seems like it is from either an overworked GPU or it using too much memory. its got an AMD athelon x2 64 bit processor, an ATI radeon intigrated graphics card, and is running Windows Vista... and please no linux users telling me its because im running windows... i would rather be running ubuntu but i need more hard drive space. this is really annoying and any help that could be given would be appreciated. Thanks!

Need Advise on Building Large Arch Gate

I am trying to make a large arch-like gate out of foam. It would be about 8' high, it would have to stand on its own, it would have to be able to be broken apart into pieces and needs to be able to last in the elements. I was thinking of buying wet foam blocks (foam used by florists) and binding sets of them together and using spray foam to cover the outsides and paint it grey to make it look like rocks. It would be held together with dowels through each set of foam and have an anchor at the bottom using dowels hammered into the ground.  Inspiration for this design came from the vault from the Borderlands game series  http://i.imgur.com/DwMSsWb.jpg I wanted to know if anyone has seen guides for making a fake stone arch or if anyone had ideas for making this (Especially if the ideas aren't too expensive) Thanks

Laptop Suggestions?

Recently I graduated high school, and I am now about to be a Freshman in college.  I was wondering if the Instructables Community could be nice enough to suggest a good computer to an incoming Freshman. I will be majoring in Broadcast Telecommunications and Mass Media, with a minor in Computer Science so I am going to need something that can handle video editing and storage pretty well.  Also, I am an avid PC gamer, so something that can handle games like Team Fortress 2 and Borderlands (just to name a few) would be great.   This is what I've been looking at and unless I can get any better suggestions, this is what I will probably get http://www.cdw.com/shop/products/Lenovo-ThinkPad-T420-4178-Core-i5-2520M-2.5-GHz-14in-TFT/2328427.asp    Thanks for helping me out Instructables!

Battery support with Intel Compute Stick

Hi, I've been working in a project that is basically an Intel Stick with Z8350, a 7 inch waveshare screen and joystick buttons in the case. The idea is to be able to play windows games like Skyrim, Borderlands, Fallout... Anyway, I've come to a point where everything works just fine, right now I'm designing a 3d printed case to fit it all inside and take it to the go. I was planing on using a battery meter with LEDs to know the charging state and current state of the battery, but I just have been wondering, is there anyway to add battery support with windows 10 reading? just like a laptop, you pop a battery and windows gives me the percentage left and charging status. I plan to post a instructions for this when I finish it as well with the 3d print files and part list. My thanks to all!

Congratulations Halloween 2012 Props Contest Winners

Thanks to everyone who participated in the Instructables 2012 Halloween Contest!  With stacks of amazing entries it helps to narrow the field down a bit - that's why in this post I'm going to specifically address the Halloween Props Contest winners.  As components of costumes, or pieces of larger halloween decoration, Halloween Props is a bit of a catch-all category.   With 392 entries received in the Props category alone, competition was very tough and extremely close.  All of the authors who submitted project to this category should be proud of their work regardless of whether or not they received a prize. The first place category winner was the Animatronic Stargate Helmet by Honus.  This project had clear and effective documentation, great integration of servos and more classical mask making techniques, powerful implementation of 3D modeling and pepakura, good attention to detail in its execution, and was an accurate recreation of an actual Stargate helmet into a great real life halloween prop. The second place category winners are comprised of the Gears of War 3 - HyperHyper Realistic Digger Launcher Replica, Blood Spraying Evil Dead Chainsaw Arm, and the Fallout 3 Brotherhood of Steel Helmet.  These amazing projects utilized intensive design and digital fabrication workflows, advanced costume design techniques, solid construction skills with long lasting materials, and were beautifully documented with step by step instructions.   The third place winners include the TF2 Minigun, Custom Zombie Dentures, How to Make a PIP-Boy (Prototype), Portal Gun, and Warewolf Stilts.  All of these were executed at an extremely high and realistic level and were a great mix of careful, professional fabrication skills and down home DIY ingenuity.  As we've seen in other years, the bar is raised to a special level when it comes to Halloween and this year was no exception.  All of the finalists deserve our praise for a job extremely well done. I'd like to give a special call out to the makers of the Fallout 3 Helmet, Portal Gun, Majoras Mask, Iron Man Helmet, TF2 Minigun (Sasha) and the Borderlands Bandit Thug Helmet who all translated the digital designs for their props, or at least components of their props, into physical form in new and creative ways. To all of those who participated in our Halloween Contest this year - please enter our future contests, be it for Halloween 2013, or any other challenge that we're running.  All of the finalists in this category exhibited excellent fabrication skills, as well as an amazing ability to document their work and explain it to others, and therefore comprise what I would call some of the site's most prolific authors.  There's always something to win on Instructables and we deeply appreciate your participation.
