If we enter more than one instructable, can we only win once, or will each instructable be judged on its own? I have a few more ideas to share, but I want to be clear on the rules.

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but I would like to propose a change to contest rules. I'm proposing that the eligibility requirement to enter contests be changed to allow any instructable published within a specified time period (one week, one month, etc) before the contest opens. I know the point of limiting the eligibility is to keep fresh material flowing through the door by keeping old 'ibles from being entered over and over, but this is the second time that I've published an instructable, and then a few days later a contest opens that I'm not eligible to enter. This time, the contest in question is https://www.instructables.com/contest/fixit2014/ which opened on Sept 1. I wanted to enter this 'ible (https://www.instructables.com/id/How-To-Disassemble-A-Keyless-Drill-Chuck/) which I published on Aug 29...but it's not eligible because it was published before the contest opened. I know there's a list of upcoming contests, but the point of this site is to share your projects, not to withhold them until a contest rolls around that you may want to enter. I try to contribute as much as possible, so far publishing 18 instructables in the last 10 months. Seven of those were featured. While I doubt that I'll win any of the contests, it's frustrating not even getting a chance to enter....so, if there's a way this change could be considered, that'd be great - otherwise I'll live with it. Like I said, I doubt I'd win any contests anyway. Thanks for reading my rant.

I contacted the lottery inspection agency here in Sweden, the agency in charge of all things lottery/contest etc. According to them there is no reason why Sweden should not be an eligible country for the contests. I sent the info, links and contact information to the Instructables support and service email addresses. Is this going to make a difference? Is it going to speed up the process? I mean, From what I could find the last time Instructables added a country to the contests was in 2012... Have they stopped adding countries? Do they just not care anymore?

I saw there was a new contest, so went to investigate. I'm from the uk so always look at the eligibility at the bottom of the right hand side. This one said US only, but when I looked at the full rules, it listed all the usual places. See snapshot. Am I reading this wrong, or does one override the other? Can I enter? Thanks, Jon.

I know that Brazil isn't in the eligible countries to apply for a contest. But it is written in "16. Governing Law; Dispute Resolution" : By entering the Contest, entrants agree that these Rules will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of (c) Brazil if the entrant's principal place of residence is in Brazil I know I don't have any instructables, but i want to be able to apply for a contest, if I could! Thanks.

Hi Internet! I just saw the Sci-Fi Contest recently opened and I immediately had a bunch of ideas for projects, but I noticed that the contest page says "any project inspired by a film, TV show, or book is eligible." I was wondering, if I were to make something based on a sci-fi video game, would that still be eligible to enter? There's quite a lot of this genre in video games and I'm guessing other people will probably be interested in making video game-inspired projects as well, so I thought I'd ask just to be sure before I get too far along in a project that may or may not qualify for entry. Thanks for your time!

I was excited to pull together a video for the Jack Daniel's challenge, but then I noticed the small text at the end of the contest description: "...Void in CA and where prohibited." Why the heck are residents of California exempt from participating in this contest?

My home was built in the early 80's and I've made several environmentally-inspired improvements since I bought it - compost, rainwater harvesting, Energy-Star Appliances, insulatiion, low VOC paint and a 47 panel solar PV system. I've been looking on the Green Building Council's website to see, but all I can find is info on new construction. All I really wanted to do is see if there was a list of possible improvements that can be made on existing residential homes (and possibly the point rating) so I could know if I'm even in the ballpark to meet the LEED certification requirements. I checked into this a few years ago, but with this new 2009 LEED v3.0 it looks like they dropped anything to do with existing residential homes, or maybe I'm just not looking in the right place. So, has anybody else looked into this? Is anybody here familiar with where I can find this information? I want to see what it's like before I register and get inspected so I can tell whether or not it is worth the effort right now.

The specific case: I joined Instructables after the 'first time author 2015' competition started. Since them I published two instructables. Now is the question: are they both eligible for the competition, or not? The short description on the contest page could be interpreted in both directions.

I was just wondering why instructables made prior to a contest can't be entered. I have several instructables that I wish to enter, but this rule prohibits me from doing so. Is there a way to re-publish an instructable in order to enter it? I was wondering if a staff member or someone else knew the answer to this question, as I have the feeling that more people wish this rule was not in place. Thanks for any feedback.

Hello, I published this Instructable on August 15, and entered it into the Weekend Projects Contest the same day. It has now been two days and I have neither received an email saying it was accepted or denied. I know this usually means it has been denied, but I am positive it meets the requirements. I posted the Instructable within the correct dates, it is all original work done by me, including the photos. I live in the US, and it can be completed in less than a weekend. I do not get why it has not been approved. If anybody can explain why, give me the contact information of the moderator, or notify the moderator, it would be greatly appreciated! Cheers, Darman12

I have a question about the Clay contest criteria....debating whether to do an instructable for a DIY downdraft kiln vent for under $50 (cf $450-600 to buy) that I built. I've actually been waiting for the clay contest before publishing, however the contest criteria says: "For the purpose of this contest, any project that uses a moldable, malleable, clay-like product will be eligible." So question is, would a kiln vent be eligible? Previous contest criteria has been "all things" related to said topic, but this seems more narrow in scope. Obviously a kiln vent is not made with clay, but it certainly fits the pottery topic. What to the contest gurus say?

Hi Instructablers, I'm a bit confused on what to enter for the design contest. Could I enter a video project I made in Final Cut Express with some cool effects or something? I really like doing video editing and effects on my videos and stuff so it would be great if that would be eligible.
