A 5 gig file won't fit onto an empty 16 gig flash drive?

I have a 16 gigabyte flash drive that's relatively empty (13.7GB free space), and I was trying to put a 5 gigabyte .ISO file onto it.  However, when I try to copy the file to the flash drive, I get an error saying there is not enough space to put the file on the flash drive.  I know this is not true because I have over 13 gigs of free space. Is there any reason for this weird error and is there any fix? This is kinda important.

Can I substitute a Standard Acoustic Guitar for an Acoustic Bass/Bass with Amp? Answered

I may be playing an acoustic set with my band at a local concert/festival, I play Bass, and it being an acoustic set, I don't think I will have access to an amp, and I do not have access to an acoustic Bass. Would it be practical to play the root bass notes, as power chords on a standard Acoustic guitar? I understand that the question has a lot of variables, but does anyone have any experience of this type of situation?

Upgraded to XP

I gave Microsoft until SP1 for vista, I tried to like it, but lets count the annoyances. SLOW, even with all the twaddle turned off. 2 minutes to boot, five before wireless would connect. Disk copy at a snails pace. 12 minutes to write a one gig usb 2.0 jump drive 10 gig restore partition. 10 gig win sxs folder being repeatedly told "you need permission to do that" on my explicative deleted computer even after turning UAC off. Enoughs enough Now I'm running XP Fast 45 seconds from power on to connected to the network 7 gigs total install 2 minutes to copy one gig to a jumpdrive. Make the upgrade, it's worth it.

iMac Ram maximum? Answered

This is an interesting question about my mac (its a MA710LL).  Currently, I have 2 and 1/2 gigs of ram in it, but supposedly this model can only handle 2 gigs.  It has the appearance that it is only using 2 of the 2 1/2 gigs, and that it can "sense" that there is some more, but is there a way to make it use the other 1/2?  Thanks in advance.

I've have lots of mini keyboards and toy guitars. How can I store / transport them safely on the cheap?

Mostly for circuit bent music - I've got toy guitars like the One Man Jam, Tyco Hot Lixx, Tyco Hot Keys, etc. and mini casio and yamaha keyboards with new knobs and switches sticking all over the place. I'm afraid that some of the plastic parts may be broken (plastic whammy bars, knobs, etc.) may be broken if I just chuck them in a cardboard box or gig bag, but I don't have lots of money for a fleet of custom ATA road cases.

is it possible to build a fairly cheap in ear system for live gigs?

I find it easier to deliver a good vocal performance when i can hear myself singing.although gigs generally provide monitors, i have and often use an in ear system when playing in my local church band and the difference is incomparable, for obvious reasons. the only problems is these systems are extremely costly. for now i am just wanting to play some acoustic gigs so a simple transmittor and in ear system would do the job.do you have any diagrams of any such devices?many thanks

memory

I recently ordered a new mp3 player, to be exact it was the (Ematic 1.5" Color 4GB MP3 Video Player) and the store info said that the 4 gig memory could hold up to 40 hrs of  music or videos. Now I'm open minded but that seems like a strech to me. So does anybody know if a 4 gig memory could hold that much?

Best way to build 'gig box' style box out of MDF?

I'm looking to make an enclosure for my 3D printer [Prusa I2], and, thinking long term, I am wanting to make it closer to that of a gig box. Ultimately, this would hold the printer, ATX, and a RPi to run it all in one box. I plan to put handles on it, as to be able to carry it if I need to move it or take it somewhere (say a convention). Either way, I would like to make this box out of MDF, as I have some sheets I am not using, and I like working with it better then most other woods (due to the ease of shaping). However, I am not sure what the best method of box construction would be for this (IE, dowels and glue, screws, etc). I know I'm going to need it to take about 18 pounds about. Thanks in advance!!

Man Crashes SUV Through Local Building.

This is huge news, a man crashed into a building right in the middle of town at over 75 mph. It is probably hard to understand it's importance if you are unfamiliar to Gig Harbor, but I've walked past that building and driven down that road thousands of times. The building used to be a restaurant, but the owners sold it and it became a fitness gym. It's right at the heart of Gig Harbor, basically. GIG HARBOR, Wash. - An SUV crashed into the 1-2-3 Fit gym at Pioneer Way and Harborview Drive early Wednesday, killing the driver.Witnesses said the driver was traveling at about 75 mph when the vehicle crashed into the building at about 6:30 a.m.The SUV came to rest on a desk. The 26-year-old driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was killed instantly.Four or five people on exercise equipment narrowly escaped injury. Gym member Ryan Ryan was doing push-ups at the time of the crash."The odd part about this is there was no attempt to miss the building, no attempt to brake, and the vehicle speed was three-four times the speed limit," said Ed Troyer of the Pierce County Sheriff's Dept.Link and Video.I know it's a few days old. I was unable to post a topic earlier because of homework.

Home theater Pc

I'm making a home theater pc for out in my living room. I had some problems with getting colour through tv out for some ungodly reason, but installing the catalyst drivers for my ati card seemed to solve the problem. Anywho, the specs are:Pentium 2 450mhz192mb of ram (I have more that was origionally in it, but I was having problems with it just flashing off and corrupting the hard drive, bad ram = corrupt data so I have yet to sort out what's bad)A really old 6 gig hd, I plan to buy a 80 gig hd for it in about 2 weeks.Ati Radeon 7000 w/ dual vga out and tv out obviouslyI think it's fine for playing movies and the such, and it's a generally fast computer, (I have xp pro installed) but the hd slows it down unbearably so hopefully I get that fixed soon with the new hard drive. I've had a 80 gig in it before and I know how fast it gets. Anywho, I need suggestions for a media front, like windows media center type of thing, because on a tv, it's rather hard to see the print on the screen and navigate through files and music. I appreciate anyone that can suggest and software.

USB Flash Drive keyring attachment

Everybody loves their flash drive, and most people keep them on their keys (or if you're really cool, on a lanyard around your neck with some kind of card identifying you as a professional geek). A few months ago I bought a little 4gb Lexar Firefly, and I love it. It's tiny and holds lots of information. As you can see in the picture, the hole where you attach a keyring is in the lid, not on the body of the drive. This cuts down on the drive's size, but means that the drive might fall out of the lid, or get forgotten and left behind. Naturally, this happened after not 3 months of ownership. After a while I lamented ever finding my trusty drive, and tossed the little clear plastic cap. However, lo and behold, I did find my little USB drive a long time later--Bbt now I have no way to attach it to my keys! Does anybody have some ideas for a key-attachment mod for my little firefly? I'd like to avoid adding any kind of bulky casing, but I will if it means not having to drop $25 on a new one.

More hiss from external powered wah?

I put together a gig box with power, and everything is fine.only problem is I have a George Dennis wah at the beginning of the chain, with a battery it is just fine. It has a power jack mini plug ts connector. Tip is positive and ring is ground. I am a technician , so I made a cord from the gig box power supply, reversed the tip and ring, because the ring is positive with guitar toys, it works but now I have a lot of hiss, more than normal, I use a nova drive of distortion and have a noise gate. When I unplug the power from the wah the hiss normalizes. if I use an external power supply for the wah it is ok. Used a meter and the power is correct 9.3 volts dc. Not sure what to make of this?

USes for my mac?

I have this old B&W; G3 and so far I have 4 hard drives in it (2 old 6 gig in raid stripe, and 2 old 20 gig quantum fireballs). I also have a dvd burner in it, but it's kinda hard to use all the drives at once :(Regardless, I'm wondering what I can use for a OS on this old unit (350mhz) and I have 512mb of ram in it (I think). I tried mac os x server 10.4.9 this morning that I burned onto a dvd, it booted, but when I tried to proceed in the setup, it told me that it wasn't compatible with my mac or something to that extent.I'm downloading Gentoo as per recommendation from a friend, and then he told me, he never could get linux to work on any mac. Such encouragement. I'm just stumped and curious to see if anyone else has some ideas for what I could use this server for.
