Moss Wall Hangings?

There are patches of that verdant velvet known as moss all around my neighborhood and I'd like to propagate some of it indoors. I was wondering if I could make some kind of wall hanging on which to grow moss. Here are some of the ideas I've brainstormed without a lot of details because I haven't got them. That's what I need you for. Please respond with your suggestions. 1. Cover a frame (I have one that I took a canvas off of) with pond liner (or waterproof roofing paper if I don't have to buy a lot of it), laying channels of organic peat or coir fiber (coconut peat) on top of it and laying a mixture of cheap driveway sealant and the same peat on top of that (with just enough sealant to hold it together, with one end of the channels exposed for watering. 2. Some kind of hypertufa wall hanging that is waterproof on the back with hollow channels inside for watering. I'm not too keen on this idea as making hypertufa seems like a long and difficult process, what with all the drying and curing. Also cement isn't very environmentally-friendly. 3. Some rocks, peat, coir, mulch or some combination thereof sandwiched between a layer of wire mesh and some kind of hard waterproof (or waterproofed) backing. I could start this out horizontally if need be so the moss would help to hold it in.

RetroPie system hanging problems

Not too long ago I ordered a Raspberry Pi 3 and used it as my main computer for about a day and while it did most things pretty well, internet browsing, as usual, was painful, with the browser tabs loading very slowly and crashing frequently, probably due to the small about of RAM and poor RAM management. Anyways I decided that while the Pi 3 may still not be suitable for me in desktop use, what about game emulation!?!? ----------- So I download the RetroPie distro and flash that to a quality SD card, and get it set up. I installed a few experimental emulators and messed with the CPU/GPU RAM allocation a bit but any time I try to emulate a system, or even exit an emulator and get back to the emulation station, the entire system hangs!!!! Being a hardware guy, I get the osciloscope and measure the power supply. I did notice that when the PS3 is connected via USB, the red light on the Pi goes out. Surely enough the red light goes out because the nominal 5V input drops to below 4.5V, which causes the 1.1V regulator powering the processor to drop out for some reason. I replaced the dodgy 6 ft USB cable and 5V 2A power adapter with a much shorter 2 foot long and thick micro USB cable and use a quality samsung 5.3V 2.5A charger, and this seemed to fix that problem and reduce the frequency of system hangs. Now I can no longer observe a correlation between a system hang and low voltage dropout. The minimum voltage observed was 4.8V. However I still sometimes get system hangs when exiting emulators, and it is just about guaranteed to hang when trying to use the SNES, N64, and PSP emulators. I might try to reflash RetroPie over this weekend if I have time, but I want to know if anyone else had this problem or might have a solution. The SD card used was a 32GB SONY UHS1 card nominally rated at 40MB/s transfer rate, and benchmarked the highest of all my 32GB cards with 4Kbyte random read/write. I used Win32DiskImager to flash the card in windows 10.

Secret traffic analysis hanging up I'bles Web pages?

I am apparently unable to upload images to my library, and I'bles Web pages also show an indefinite "loading" condition. This has been going on for several days now. It seems like there are some stupid "hidden embedded images" from traffic analysis firms that are hanging things up. I currently see "Waiting for pixel.quantserve.com..." on one tab (this one!), "Transferring data from beacon.scorecardresearch.com..." on another tab (my image upload attempt), and the nefarious "Waiting for ad.doubleclick.net..." on two others.

How can I lift a 38kg hang-glider wing on to my van's roof-rack (without help) without breaking my back? Answered

Hi, I fly a microlight, the trike of which fits nicely in my van (see link). I can get help from a neighbour when I set out, but I am on my own at the airfield, when it comes to getting the wing down....and later putting it back up.I have wondered about a pulley system, a stepped system, a winch, etcanyone got any suggestions?http://tinworm-wings.blogspot.com/all help very much appreciated-Tinworm

Hanging plants without damaging structure

I read and enjoyed zoe_roses' bit on hanging tomato plants and DebH57's on soda bottle planters. I'd like to try these out.My trouble is that I live in an apartment complex that's pretty strict about ANYTHING we do to our small outside balcony space. I've been threatened with fines when using nails to hang plants outside before, and I think they'd blow a gasket if I hung a soda bottle full of dirt.I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas as to how I could make a hanger without making marks on any structure; essentially, something cheap and removable. Also, if anyone has any ideas how I could dress up the soda bottles (or use an alternate material) so that they look a little prettier, it would be deeply appreciated. Thanks!~Phillip

Giant Hanging Light Bulb Lamp

I'm wanting to create a giant hanging light bulb lamp, similar to the ones I've uploaded, but I'm not really sure how I would go about doing it. I think I would make it out of plastic. So I would need to create a mold and then make two halves on a vacuum form, but I have no experience doing that. I'm not sure how I would make a mold of a giant light bulb, what materials to use and how to make it. I had thought about maybe cutting something out on a lathe but I don't have a lathe and it seems like it would have to be pretty big. I also thought about paper mache but I was afraid it might be too bumpy and light bulbs are smooth. Also once I have created the vacuum form plastic halves how I would attach them together with out having a large seam show.

Bubbling LED Hanging Industrial lights???

There is a project I have been vigilantly searching for on instructables and google. I remember seeing it on here a couple of years ago and now cannot find it anywhere.. The project consisted of Industrial cage jar lights, LEDs, Vegetable oil, and a fish tank pump and some other supplies.. The LED lights would be submerged in the jars with vegetable oil and   the fish tank pump supplies air into the industrial lights and the oil bubbles..  I would love to find this project. I have been itching to find it for the past year or so. If anyone knows where to find this project, Please pm me.. I would appreciate it immensely.. Or if anyone knows where to find the Industrial cage lights i would appreciate any help in this matter.. Thanks..

How can I hang a pot holder with metal ceiling joists?

I moved into an apartment complex where the ceiling joists are made of metal. I have a pot rack that I need to hang, and hanging from just anchors isn't an option as it has to support almost 100 pounds. I feel like the best thing I could do would be to find some way to have a support sit on TOP of two paralell joists, but I don't know how to install something like that without ripping the ceiling apart to get to it? Anyone have any ideas/ know of any kind of anchors that I could install without a big fuss? Thanks a lot!

How can I hang / organize / display a LOT of ballcaps on a flat space of wall?

I need a way to hang 40 -50ish ball caps on a flat space of wall. Three people access these hats daily. I don't want to use pushpins because they can pull out when a hat is removed. I was using an old accordion coffee mug holder, which is nice because it only requires a few holes in the wall, but we've way outgrown that and it's not great looking either.

HELP! device to hang pots and pans that lowers with electric???

I have very limited space in my kitchen and leave my pots and pans on the stove when i'm not using them but they get in the way.  I remember, in the old days, they had ways to hang them from the ceiling and could raise and lower them with a rope.  Since I have limited space, I was thinking about a copper pipe mounted on a system where you could push a button to raise and lower the pipe along some sort of track mounted to the wall that holds the pipe out 12-18 inches away from the wall.  (Almost like a wire rack shelf idea where the shelf would electronically move up and down.)  I could then hang S hooks from the bar and hand the pots from the hooks and raise them up along the wall, out of the way until I need them and lower them without a pulley or getting a chair.  I can usually manage to change a lightbulb all by myself but I am lost on this idea.  Any inexpensive suggestions???

Hanging onto the essence of my favorite old boots.

Okay, I've spark-tested the toes from my old boots;strong white spray, fair amount of secondary sparking...so I'm guessing a mid-range carbon steel. I'm looking to weld up blade stock with them but without a specific composition, I'm at a loss for what would be the best steel to shim into it. Tried looking up the  call-codes stamped into the toes...got nothing so guessing they're just stock-control numbers.  Does anyone have any more information on alloys used in steel toes?

Help? Chunk glass hanging lamp how-tos

Hiya, I'm a noob. I love the look of chunk glass lamps, and like hanging swag / pendant lamps, but the real thing is ridiculously expensive. So, I'd like to make one. The wiring is reasonably straightforward, any one of the kit things would work fine. Where I'm running into trouble is how to put it together. I know it's going to be heavy, which is ok; Elephant hooks from Amazon claim they can support a hundred pounds if put into a rafter.  What I'm looking for is how to make the thing to attach the glass to. A lot of the existing ones (If you search google for 'chunk glass lamp' you'll find what I'm interested in) use either molded lead or mortar. I'm kind of looking for a slightly lighter weight solution; I'd rather the weight be pretty rather than structural.  An idea I originally had was something like a 3d printed frame, maybe in sections that can snap together with a network of supports to glue the glass to, to allow a thin smear of mortar or clay or something to cover it, so the light only comes through the glass.  I know many of the original ones from the 60s and 70s were lucite vs glass, Big hunks of glass seem relatively easy to find, big hunks of plastic not so much. If anyone has a good source for either or both, I'd love to hear.  Be gentle, it's my first time here. :)  (Tried to attach a file, but I'm at work, and it looks like the network is nuking it. Just search google for 'chunk glass lamp' and you'll find dozens.)
