LED's on helmet

I was thinking on building a helmet like the ones that are on this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BgfcToAjfdc I can do the electronics, but I have no idea on where or how to get a helmet similar to the one on the video that has a visor large enough for an LED matrix. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. Thanks

Advanced Helmet

Advanced Helmet By: Arseny Ratnikov I want to create a helmet that looks like a sci fi helmet (mass effect, titanfall, halo, etc.) and that; **Want to make cool helmet, need help with having multiple camera feed output to multiple screens** * Protects my head (able to decrease force from impact by significant degree) * Can filter the air I breath (does not need to be super extreme filter, just filter out general junk, the better the filter the more pleased I am, but if it becomes too bulky/expensive then it is unnecessary)(Optional/Most Likely) * Has a HUD with my vitals on it. I would wear some sensors, such as HR monitor to have some cool biofeedback, maybe also include other information.(option) * Maybe even have it be a digital display where there are cameras on the front and maye back of the helmet that then are displayed on the interior screen, where I have voice commands setup for some different things. * Have the helmet be as sound proof as possible and have microphones where my ears would be, then inside the helmet speakers, so that I can modify the noise around me to be how I want it to be. I understand this would be rather difficult (at least including all of the bullets) and that it could even be a touch silly. Yet, I find this a rather intriguing pursuit and think it will help contribute to becoming a cyborg. Any tips would be greatly appreciated as I don't really know where to start for this. I can imagine a lot of the work might be done on an arduino, but I simply don't know the feasibility of modifying noises of the world around you and having the cameras on the helmet. So here's a little prioritization sheet I worked out, it is not exactly in order, and maybe you all have some suggestions on what might be more critical to design and functionality. Prioritization 1. Functionality a. Head protection a1. Padding/Inertia dampener a2. Sturdy/solid b. Control of phone through bluetooth b1. In helmet speakers b2. In helmet microphone b3. Voice control c. Control of other systems such as screens c1. Voice control of screens c2. Screen modification c3. Screen HUD and other functions (maybe GPS map, time, etc.) d. Camera view d1. Camera live to screen with little to no latency d1a. 360 degree view compressed to 180 degree screen (maybe) d2. Computer control of camera feed d2a. Visuals, different HUDs e. Sound modulation e1. Sound cancelling e2. Sound reproduction at low to no latency e3. Sound modification e3a. Changing pitch e3b. Change decibel levels e3c. Change relative level of external sounds f. The HUD f1. Display of vitals f1a. Heart rate, oxygenation, etc. (Requires some monitor) f2. Display of time and other running interests f3. Display of current location on google maps/GPS system g. Air Filtration g1. Filtration of air, relatively high quality g2. Seal on head or seal over mouth and nose or full body suit that connects to helmet h. Extra Features 2. Style a. Look good b. Look like popular sci-fi media c. Does not interfere with functionality and accents functionality How should I do this? I am planning on using some old phone screens if I can for the screen part and multiple cameras. I plan on using a raspberry computing system (might need multiple) to modulate the output from the cameras. How could I make multiple camera outputs lay onto multiple screens that looks good at three to five inches from the eyes? Also how can I make the raspberry pi control my phone and computer via voice, or at least change a screens properties? Thanks

Gundam Helmet

I've already started working on my Halloween costume, which is a scaled down version of a giant Japanese fighting robot otherwise known as a Gundam Suit. I've finished everything except the helmet, which I am having serious trouble trying to build. The attached image is what I am trying to replicate. If anyone can post pictures or make an instructable and link me to it, it would be appreciated. Thank you! -Tomcat94

Daft Punk helmet from baseball helmet

Hi everyone! So I read and reread many threads and have a few questions about a building a Daft Punk helmet for hallowe'en. Now I know all of you are probably saying "pfffft not another one" But mine will be different and you will see once it is done. It is more of a Daft Punk Inspired helmet. Anyways, the helmet will be Thomas's helmet which will be started from a low profile rawlings baseball helmet. But will have a few changes to it from the original ones. My question is: After applying the bondo onto the helmet, to strengthen the inside, do I use bondo again? spray foam? or nothing since the baseball helmet is basically still there. Thanks! And I will post photos of progress. Antoine

DIY Protective Helmet? Answered

So I'm looking at starting a helmet project with the good ole' pepakura halo helmets, but taking it a step further. Essentially what I am wondering is how one would go about adding some protective foam or padding that can absorb impact (I'm talking motorcycle grade here). The design I'm looking at calls for some custom work, otherwise I'd just gut an existing helmet off the shelf. Does anyone have any ideas on accomplishing this? I'm thinking the helmet shell will be carbon fiber for added durability so I'm hoping to get some feedback on what everyone thinks would be the best protective layer for the inside. Also, please no "For your own safety just buy a helmet and don't worry about the looks" This is a novelty just for fun, but I'd like to know I could use it if I wanted to. Let me know what you think!

Motorcycle helmet with a camera?

So I was looking for a clean looking motorcycle helmet with a camera sort of like the Go Pro but I wanted it to be embedded in the helmet. And I came across the Momentum Pro helmet which is still in the pre-order phase and it can't be shipped to my country anyway. So what sort of materials do I need to build one like the Momentum. or at least of decent resemblance? Thanks in advance.

LED Motorcycle Helmet

For the design part of my art folio am creating a futuristic helmet. I want to put green led strips on the inside of the visor. The helmet won't need to be powered for long maybe and hour at the most. It will need to be worn for a few photos, so I can't have huge battries and switches , I need to make this as compact and hidden even if the wire just runs down my neck and the batteries in my back pocket. I have the helmet but no idea how am going to do the rest so could someone please give me a non technological person who only knows that battries have power give me a guide to making this , and hopefully as cheap as possible . I already have the helmet.

Vinyl wrapping a helmet

Hi, Now that I have access to a pretty decent vinyl printer, and saw this (A page of small vinyl pieces to lay on a helmet as a 'wrap') I'm pretty keen to give it a go. But excluding the graphic, I'm interested in how they manage to capture the 'contour' of the helmet to print perfectly sized decals. Because I've seen wraps for different kinds of helmets so it's not a one size fits all. Some of the decals cover the entire helmet, it's hard to tell from the pictures but would they be 1 piece? If so that seem quite a difficult graphic to lay without any air bubbles, I know you can lay graphics in a small amount of water so it's easy to move the image around but since helmets aren't flat and gravity I don't think the water would last for very long.

Pirate Station Robot Helmet

Hello everyone! Name's DJ_DAN. Just need some URGENT HELP! I just saw some videos of a Drum & Bass Festival called Pirate Station Network. It's robot head design really got me, and I like to make a fully wearable DJ  helmet with animated LEDs for the eyes, and a black grid-ish metal mesh for the mouth. Something like this: http://www.featurepics.com/FI/Thumb300/20100216/Black-Metal-Grid-1460869.jpg And really basic animations for the eyes, like fading in & out, flashing, standing still, etc. The base could be made from fiberglass or mabye carbon fiber. The eye "lens" maybe could be made from plexiglas or something like that. And the "headphones" could be the part of the helmet, with built-in headphones. I just slighty edited the design of the original PSN robot helmet, which looks like something like this: http://www.4shared.com/photo/3miIkBII/robothelmetdesign.html PLEASE! I just want to know who could do one for me or at least how could I start to make the helmet! PLEASE HELP! (And sorry for my English...)

Viking Ship, Village or Helmet?

I've recently been allocated a project for school that needs to be done by the 28th February. The task is to either build a model viking ship, any size, any material or to build a viking outfit. Chances are, the entire out fit is impossible so I'm probably aloud to make a detailed helmet, with chain mail & leather cap underneath, or some other item of clothing. The last option is to build a model Viking town, it's aloud to be done on the computer as a 3d format, but I have no idea how to do this, any suggestions? I'm personally stuck on what to choose to make, or how to build it., what does every one else think? Remember, I'm going for a good mark here, but I also have the incapability to get things done amazingly quick. Cheers everyone, ~K (P.S. No horns for the helmet, although it's a popular myth it's supposedly not true in the history books.)

Speaker and microphone system for a helmet? Answered

I'm getting more and more done on a set of helmets (Daft Punks, to be exact) and ran into a slight snag. While fitting them and what not, I found out people have a hard time hearing me, and I have a hard time hearing them. And this is in a perfectly quite room. So when I do finish these, and start wearing them...I'm going to be a deaf mute. I did some looking, and I know I can at least get my phone worked into it. However, I was wondering if there is either a pre-existing soultion to this, or if someone has any cleaver ideas for a system that will feed outside audio into me, and inside audio out. Thanks in advance!

Rave Helmet Led delima

Okay, so I just finished making my custom rave helmet made of a really sturdy form of geometric origami made out of triangles. kinda hart to explain but I'll post pictures if need be. What I want to do now is wire up Leds to the helmet all over it. My problem is: A: the spacing of the leds would make it impossible  to use a solid led board, I would need to have them wired in some sort of series B: I'm terrible with diy electronics and have never done anything with arduino. I really want to be able to set up the leds in a way that they can be programmed to flash, or light up in a cool way, or react to music. So i figure my best bet is to have some kind of premade Arduino board and power supply that I can buy pre made without having to make my own arduino board because its way too advanced for me. Thats where I fall off, I'm capable of wiring the leds, but anything more advanced than that I'm pretty lost on. Do you guys have any suggestions for products or tutorials to help me out?

ATC 1000 Helmet Camera -- On the riggers

I let a friend of mine borrow the ATC 1000 helmet camera from the Magnet Challenge... I also let him use my 256MB SD card -- so he was able to get about 12 minutes of video at best quality outside(high contrast = less recording time). He started it really early - so he did not get the whole race but there's still some cool stuff on there (I edited out about 8 minutes). For a digital camera, it's not the best -- but it's pretty good for it's size and weight. And it handled the partially wet conditions like a champ :)He attached the camera to the riggers (the part that supports the oar) on their shell (aka the boat). The white box thingie is a speaker to help out the coxswain (the person yelling commands, encouragement and counting off).Video is cut short - but you get to see them start off in their power 10. At one point you can hear them catch their rhythm and everything makes nice sounds :PVideo is not as good a quality as the raw footage (too big to upload :P). I think this convinced my buddy to find one of these cameras too :P

Ski Helmet Walkie-Talkie Instructable Help

Hey, all! I'm new here at instructables. I'm majoring in Electronic Engineering Technology in college at the moment. Anyways, I was reading through the (https://www.instructables.com/id/Build-a-Ski-Helmet-walkie-talkie-%22ACS%22/) Build a Ski Helmet Walkie-Talkie; and I have a couple of questions. I posted on the topic, however, no-one has posted on it in quite a while, so I figure I'd post here. Basically, I want to use this instructable to make an Airsoft headset (more than likely 2-way). Here was my comment: "I know it's been a while since there was a comment, but I have a few questions. My friends and I play airsoft. I thought'd it'd be pretty neat if we bump-up the realism in the game with helmet (in my case a mask) to helmet communication. Now for the questions: 1. I may not be getting this, but how do you sync up the walkie talkie and the Xbox Live headset? I skimmed over your instructions, but have yet to try it. 2. Is it possible to have helmet-to-helmet communication? As in 1 Xbox headset to another Xbox headset, not to a radio. I would really only want just two headsets (for now, at least). I'm not really expecting this part to be possible with this current set-up, but any information you can give will be extremely helpful. I'm currently majoring in Electronic Engineering Technology, so I have a slight idea of what I'm doing. I thought that this would not only be quite helpful and efficient, but also great practice for the field I'm going into. Thank you for your time, Darryn" Any help on this project (and answering my questions) would be greatly appreciated! Darryn.

How to Construct a GUY Daft Punk Helmet?

Hey guys, I was wondering how you would build a GUY Daft Punk helmet out of a motorcycle helmet. I have purchased a really nice motorcycle helmet for $30 and I started last night to make an outline of the golden frame that surrounds the helmet. I was planning on making this out of cardboard, and then after measuring it to make sure it fits the helmet precisely, covering it with Bondo. Once that was done, I was going to construct the plastic visor, which is where the trouble comes in. Does anyone have any suggestions on how that visor can be made? I have no idea how to do vacuum form, which is unfortunate. Any answers would be appreciated. Thank you.

Making a dwarf welding helmet out of fiberglass.

Hey everyone, I've been thinking about a new project lately. And for that I need a lot of tips. So here is what, why and how. Introduction: I'm currently making a welding helmet out of an old beer keg as in the instructable of bricobart. When I started with it I though about using the keg as sheet material to make a papercraft mask, probably Dr. Doom or the ABC warrior Hammerstein from the first Judge Dredd movie. I quickly realised it wouldn't provide me the result I like to have, so now I'm just making the 'simple' version from bricobart. But I don't give up that easily. I also want to make something out of fiberglass and epoxy resin for a while, just to have the experience and to try it. So my quest for the perfect helmet/mask continued. I found Fallout helmets, which have tubing on which I could attach a breathing device. But finally I came to this Erebor helmet from the Hobbit. The plan: The plan is to make the Erebor helmet with a hinged visor. I am planning on using several pepakura helmet models and combine them to make the helmet suitable for my welding purpose. The hinged visor and all other mechanics like that I can work out myself. The paper helmet will then be covered with epoxy and fiberglass as can be seen in several other instructables. To make it smooth and for details, I will use car body filler. (I already know EVA foam is the better choice for the helmet, but I don't trust is with the temperature of the welding and I read things about epoxy resins not werking properly on EVA foam.) However, I never used epoxy resin/fiberglass/car body filler or any of these kind of materials. So therefor I need al the help I can get from here. What kind of stuff is suitable for my welding helmet due to high temperature (gradient)? What is the best way to go so all parts will connect properly? Is it wise to start this project?(Please don't answer no, because I will probably won't listen). Painting tips, epoxy tips, general tips etc. Thanks in advance.

Can we request an instructable? Helmet Intercom?

So i was wondering if anyone could create an instructable to make a helmet intercom system. I recently bought quads and its hard to hear eachother screaming at the top of our lungs. I know there are kits you can buy that fit two-way radios with Push-to-talk options, but I was hoping I could just make it considering the kits are EXTREMELY overpriced. I was thinking of buying a 4 pair of cobra walkie talkies and would need an easy to craft earphone, microphone and push to talk button that would plug into the walkie. Thanks!
