I have a pro membership. Why am I continually badgered to become a pro member when I already am one and sometimes I have troubles downloading PDF'S. Why am I being made to jump thru so many hoops just to enjoy the benefits of pro membership every time I log in???

What is the point of the "Best answers %" ? With 220+ Best answers, and nearly 3900 replies to questions, my "BA %" is very low. Its a major disincentive to continuing to contribute, because I should go to great lengths not to help people further with their problems, after an initial answer, because it forces my statistics DOWN. I'd appreciate a more meaningful statistic related to my contribution here.

hstough101 appears to be copying other members instructables and posting them as his own. His instructable "Dome Lights" uses the same photo I posted in https://www.instructables.com/id/Globe-Lights/. His other two instructables have photos that look very familiar as well.

It could be another Go Pro incentive, but have a space where members can challenge others to make a particular item by a given date, then let the membership vote on the winner. Similar to what is done now with contests except it's hardly any work for you guys and increases the number of ideas pertinent to then members themselves.

Currently, I find new members by just going searching around the site and then if I get the impression somebody is new to the site I'll go to their profile to check, and if they are, then I welcome them. I've had reasonable success doing that so far, but if you can think of a better way to find new members, let me know!!!

For a little while now, I have been questioning one thing: "Why are there so many new Pro Members that never even do anything on Instructables?" When you go on the home page, at the right side directly above the contests, you will see that the website shows new Pro Members. The odd bit about it is that when you click on some of their profiles, you will see that most of them haven't done anything on Instructables at all. Wouldn't one of them at least have made a comment, or asked a question? I'm now wondering if the owners of Instructables are making Instructables Pro Members on purpose, trying to convince the others that if so many people already went Pro, maybe they should too. If this is true, they wouldn't lose money, because if they are making the "Fake Members", their money goes right back to them. Leave a comment on what you think, or if you have an answer, please tell us all.

Are you, or your child(ren), a member of DIY.org? If so, what do you think of it? Is it much of a community? How many badges have you earned? How many projects did you do to earn a badge? What do you think of the range of badges? Any other comments? Do you know of any similar sites?

Hi, gmjhowe here.Well i had eaten my sandwich early, and i was kinda bored during my lunch. So i decided to make full use of my work computer producing these lovely 'members card'I figured that we all love this site, and would be proud to carry a member card around. Also if you print many of these off they can be used as pseudo business cards, great if you want to give somebody a link to all your projects!I also have now added a generic card, for people to hand out that just has the normal web address on! (thanks skate for the suggestion!)Now, this is how it works, i have the full artwork files, done in Quark Xpress, anybody is welcome to have these, just PM me.Anyone else who wants one, just hit a comment below, listing how you want your name, the title you would like under your name, your 'member since' date, and your member page. Also add the image that you would like.I will reply with a comment, with a nice pdf file for you to print off and use!I will then work my way down the comments, first come, first served. Thanks again, Gmjhowe(ps, ive also included a .pdf file of my member card, so you can see what quality your getting)(pps, yes i am providing these file for free, it just might take a while to complete)

I just heard about imgr doing sort of a secret Santa type gift exchange for valentines day and thought that was a super cool idea. While we're probably too late for v day, maybe that would be a fun thing to put together for a "spring cleaning" maker trade. There's a lot of amazing talent on this site and I bet some of us could definitely stand to clear our workbenches of surplus or unsold projects. Each person would get the name and address of another member and send something they make, and receive something from a different person in return. I'm happy to help organize it, but I'm not sure about the best way to assign gifts since we can't just draw names out of a hat. Suggestions? And do we divide it by country so nobody has to deal with international postage, or leave it wide open? I welcome ideas and definitely would like to gauge interest.

Sometimes we find a project that we’d like to actually see and touch. Other times we have resources (components, equipment, etc.) that we’d like to give away or barter for help with another project. This website is an excellent resource to build up a community of makers. Also, 5 years ago I posted a project requesting help and I haven't received any answers, yet. I think that part of the problem is that not everybody reads the forums. In many cases, when we see a project that we'd like to develop, not knowing where the maker is located dissuade us to pursue such project. I think that we need to develop a reference map showing the city or town where we are located. That way we could develop more synergy and by doing that, increase our resourcefulness and benefit all members. Don’t you think so? P.S. I’m not a computer guy, but I understand that for some of you the Google API is not a problem.

Every link I click on signs me out. On the pdf page no link will download with out signing me out. I sign back in and click on the link only to be signed back out and told that I cant download till I sign in. Its a cycle. In both safari and firefox. If you cant provide me with what I paid for then end my contract. From reading the forums you are not providing service or fixing the issue. This was a great site when it was a resource and functional. Ever since it became a paid site it's gone down hill. I have screen shots of the issues if needed. thank you -Aaron Koscielniak

I wanted to give some positive feedback to everyone here at instructables because I feel they have earned it. When I first signed up I must admit that I was very frustrated because everything was new to me. I kind of felt alone in a vast world of the unknown. I felt bad at times to email staff members or volunteers because lets face it everyone is busy. Thanks for being patient with me. In time I have learned a lot. I have seen some very positive changes in the value of the contest prizes and the quality of the winners entries as well as the instructables staff working hard on the issues here. I personally wish to thank you all for your hard work and say I have noticed it! I also wish to thank everyone who has corresponded with me and answered my questions because you have been so helpful. A special thanks of course to Eric, Scoochmaroo, and Instructables Robot. A special thanks to Nizerbean because she has worked very hard helping me become better and better at editing my entries. I value all of her time and hard work and well, thank you! I know the amount of time it takes to email back and forth and tweak here and there. It takes time away from you doing your own thing but know that I appreciate all you have done! All of you volunteers Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I hope you feel appreciated. I also wish to thank the members because they too make up the instructable site. Thank you for awesome instructables that we can learn from, have fun making, and exchange creative ideas! You rock! A special thanks to wilgubeast, Chrysn, and Stumpchunkman. If any members wish to join me in giving this team some positive feedback please tell these wonderful people you value them also. How about an online Thank You Instructables party with cupcakes, pies, bbq, drinks, and diy patches! Thanks for reading this. Sunshiine

Just interested to know if there are any other Aussie Instructible members? Haven't managed to spot many yet, but am interested to know how many we are. Ible.com seems to be becoming very popular over here, with several of my work collegues frequenting the site.

I was recently asked by a member whether I could send them a copy of the full PDF of my Instructable since they weren't Pro Members. If I were paying for my membership I probably wouldn't consider it. But having won my Pro membership in a contest, the morality of the situation is in question. I have not sent the materials, but would like to know other members' or moderators' thoughts on the morality and/or legality of such handouts. I realize the membership was awarded to me and me alone, but my urge to share my own work is pretty strong. Thanks

You may feel puzzled or confused by aspects of the site - things that others seem to know, but you think are so simple you are embarrassed to ask about them. There is a group of members who have volunteered to help where they can.The members of the Volunteers group, are all happy to help - just send us a PM, and we'll do what we can, or pass you on to somebody who can do more.(Needless to say, if you want to be identifiable as somebody willing to help, then join the group.)

Currently the Pro Members forum only has one category. What are the sorts of things you'd like to talk about here? Pro Features you'd like us to develop? The inside scoop on Randy's next secret project? Let us know, and we'll create a handful of categories to keep it organized. Thanks for going pro!
