Hello all! I need some guidance.   I am trying to bake cupcakes, but I want to bake them in the shape of coffee beans. I was considering using egg shaped pans (that usually sell around Easter), but unfortunately, it is not Easter, so they are not selling... Any advice on how to make baked goods in the shape I need? I need to find a way to shape a rolled  finishing edge with a 14"wide top plastic bottle. I actually thinking about a stainless steel cone that I could heat up to reshaple the edge ....any idea how I could find...make/ do  such a thing?? 

This year I've started trying to make more advanced cakes and was wondering how other people shape their cakes?  I know there's the basic way of cutting(for example into flat heart shapes and such) but for the more 3D detailed cakes what's the way to do it? Is it the same way?  I thought perhaps its possible to use a similar techinque that's used for some cake pops, where you mix in a semi sweet icing or thickener into cake to create a dough like texture for moulding but would that be to pastey and not cake like enough? I really want to try shaped cakes but I haven't known how, so if anyone could help it would be very much appreciated! Thank you! 

Hey All, I'm getting ready for my next project, making a Deadmau5 head that replicates his pinhead helmet from last halloween. Since this helmet will require "messing up" and texturing the head rather than using fabric, I was assuming I'd use styrofoam to create that effect. However, I am uncertain as to whether or not I should be buying a hollow styrofoam sphere or flexible styrofoam, or something else. Any help/guidance would really be appreciated. I will be putting the material on a 13" hamster ball. Thanks in advance!!

Hello all!    I need help shaping existing sewing needles into spring shapes...and need to mass produce! I have an invention idea for a sewing needle, and after countless attempts at commissioning someone to manufacture for me, I have decided to do it myself. However, as I am a layman I have no idea how to get started!  I had created many prototypes by heating up sewing needles, then wrapping them around screws. I have tried many times to create a machine that could easily do this for me, however to no avail.  Another problem I have is that once the metal is heated and bent into shape, I need a way to possible polish and return the shine...   I have approached many shops worldwide from: sewing needle companies/ spring making companies, cnc, medical instruments, metal artists, aerospace, prototyping companies, 3d printing, the list goes on...  So now i'm back to square one...any help is appreciated, thanks !

In my science class right now, we are making bottle rockets. I was wondering what the best shape of parachute to use is. Also, how should I attach the parachute to the rocket?

Hello there I am planing on making a bass guitar, it is going to be fret-less, most likely have 5-strings, and will probably have a partially hollow body for effect :). but anyway, I am wondering if anyone has a good body shape for it. to keep the results to somewhat my liking, I want you to know that I play a lot of jazz and the like, not any heavy metal, so before you come here and tell me to make it look like a warlock, that will most defiantly not happen ( not to down anyone who likes that kind of thing, its just not me) (note: The picture is not one of the ideas that I came up with, I found it on-line for an example photo. though, i do like it)

Hi! I enjoy making paper boxes with cardstock that I normally have just cut by hand with scissors. But I am to the point where I need a simple way that I can cut the paper shapes which doesn't take as long as cutting with scissors and isn't as expensive as purchasing a scrapbook die cutter (which I can't create my own die for anyway). Does anyone have a less expensive idea that might help me? Thanks!

I'm working on a steampunk gas mask out of leather currently, but I have some questions. My design is made out of five pieces so It will fit around my face, but I don't know when to shape it. Should I sew the pieces together then soak it and shape it around my whole face or is it better to shape each piece individually then sew them together? I'm punching holes in the leather then hand-sewing it with a leather needle and waxed thread. Any help is appreciated greatly. Thanks, Noah

According to the accompanying blurb, the shape indicates a "bipolar nebular, where fast-moving gas can escape more easily from the poles of the dying star than around its equator. This creates a lobed structure reminiscent of an hourglass, or, as in this case, a giant butterfly." But... why? Why can the gases escape more easily from the poles?  Why is it harder to escape at the equator? Surely, if it was blasting from the poles, we would see a more linear shape, long "beams" of material shooting out of each end?  This image looks to me as if material blasted away from the equator, but parallel to the poles, almost as if the two halves of the star's surface were peeled apart, like turning half an orange skin inside out. Anybody got a borderline high-school/university level explanation for the shape?

Hello, am looking into the possibility of building my own paintball markers, and wanted to do a custom way of using the air system, compared to most markers. I was thinking either a square shape, but after finding an article that was talking about water and gases tanks and why they are build cylindrical, i realized that maybe that might not be as easy or practical. another possible idea would be a flask shaped tank, but for the design am looking at it would need special commendations, none the less I wish to see if something like that could be possible.

Its me, I have wondered what everyones favourite gun/s and their favourite gun shapes are, so here you go, post away, post pics aswell if you like, but no knex guns, unless they look like a real gun. My favourite gun is the L96 or the M24, I try to base my guns off of the M24, but fail with L96's.

What is that called and how would I bend and shape it without having to go to an expensive, specialist shop, please? So this problem is only happening in one step of my Instructable. I have uploaded the pictures and written image comments on top of them in the places and sizes that I want, but as soon as I switch to a different picture or step they reset into different places and sizes. Any tips?

I am making a axial flux wind turbine. I have watched many tuts on YT and researched alot on the net, but there is one thing that is confusing regarding the coil windings: Does the gap in the middle of the coil have to be the size of the magnet? many people do this and many don't, from a engineering perspective, which is better, my understanding is that it is best to make the gap as small as possible, that way you use up most of the magnetic flux. What is the best approach and why?

Hey, all, I'm working on a puzzle for an escape room right now and am wondering if there's any way that I can use a laser pointer to display a number. My hope is that the number is not on the lens of the pointer, but rather is discovered after the laser pointer is shined through a specific spot on a piece of plexiglass. The players are asked to set up a tripod in a specific spot with a specific angle, mount the laser point to the top of it and then move the point around the room. Ideally, as the point is traveling around the room, it will shine directly on a small part of a plexiglass display and then refract a number on the wall behind it. Any ideas on how or if this is possible? Any and all thoughts are welcome. Thanks!

What is a good program or game to design your own car in detail?  If you've been to the test track in Disney and made a car I want a program/game like that.  Where you make the shape and then color and style it and change the wheels and everything.  Please respond! :)?

 How do I make a L-shaped shower curtain rod? I do not mind an industrial look. (raw pipes) The size is 29" x 29". I need to make it by Thanksgiving. I dont want to have to use a support bar, but i will if i need to. 

It seems that the only people who make 3D models of 2D plans don't use SketchUp, but I have to use it for this project. I'm trying to trace the plans for my Sig Tiger in Sketchup, but it only lets me make 3D shapes. Is there some trick that I'm missing?

Every time I open my new instructable (high end greenhouse) for some minor editing, or viewing comments, I notice textboxes have moved, sometimes even outside the pictures. Editing puts them into shape, but next time they are back in the wrong place. This can make the instructable somewhat confusing and makes it look sloppy. Anyone had the same problem, solutions?

I have a pair of goggles of the style featured in this instructable. The problem arises because I am nearsighted and need prescription lenses to see properly. Thus the question: Is there some website where I can give them the particulars of the lenses and have them make the lenses and cut them to fit in the goggles? FYI, they would just be 50mm circles.

Ok, my son is 2 and has a race-car bed just like every little kid dreams of (my ex-mother-in-law found it for him at a yard sale) I want to coordinate his bedroom around this bed, because it's such a big part of the room and kind of hard to ignore the shape. I saw this kids dresser made by step 2 that's shaped like a tool chest (pictures to be included), and it's really neat and would go great with the garage theme I'm planning, but the only problems are 1) it doesn't seem to hold much, and 2) it's kind of pricey. so I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out how to make a dresser that has a similar look to it. I do have some basic woodworking skills, but not much in the way of tools. I can rent other tools, but I pretty much have a hammer, a drill, and POSSIBLY a circular saw (I'm not sure if we've got one of those). it doesn't have to be perfect, but I really want to try and do this for my son.

Hi all! New to the board... So I am going to be fire for Halloween to complement my boyfriend's firefighter costume. I will be wearing a lot of body paint, a shelf bra, a skirt, and I will be making cone-shaped Madonna-style nipple covers (maybe I will make them horn/flame shaped I havent decided), that will point upward. I will paint flames on them that will continue on to the rest of my chest in body paint. I need your help in deciding how to make these pointy nipple pieces. I think they will be about 2 inches in diameter and be about 5 inches long. I was thinking of making them out of Polymer Clay and attaching them with Spirit Gum. They will be painted with acrylic. I am not sure if this is the best option or if spirit gum will even hold them in place. Is there a gooey-er adhesive I could use and a different material to make the cones? I am also hoping to make 3-5 smaller cones to paint flames on and attach to my arms. Any ideas? Thanks!! I appreciate all the feedback.

From my experience a battery is a collection of cells; and since Ni-Ca batteries are cased in heatshrink you can see the various cells it is made up of!  As I just bought the wrong battery for my airsoft gun (it is way too big) I thought if I took the casing off and disassembled it into various batteries could you then turn it into a stick battery? May seem obvious; but I'm new to this :) Thanks
