There seems to be a lot of types of tape. The most famous, Duct Tape, but there have been variations on it. Gorilla tape, a stronger and stickier version, Marine Reflective Tape, X-Treme Tape, and gaffer tape.What's your favorite type of tape and uses for it?

Who here knows what Duct Tape is really bad for?

This may sound random, but I am super psyched about the gorilla tape that I purchased today! This stuff is technologically superior to any tape ever invented, and I can't wait to use it. If anyone wants to join a group about gorilla tape and how useful it is, I'd be glad to start one.

Ok, Ok, since this *is* and outdoors group/forum, and it *is* the nature of this website:What is your favorite use for duct tape? I want to hear about and see pictures of your improvisation and creativity in the outdoors at its best, using, of course, duct tape.

I'm looking for an electrical insulating tape that I can put over some exposed wire that will affix and stay put on plywood. Right now I'm using electrical tape, but the adhesion to the plywood surface isn't working that well. Anyone out there have ideas or suggestions?

OK so I know that a least all of us have used DUCK TAPE? And I know there are many different things you can make with DUCK TAPE. SO I was thinking that it would be a cool idea if there was a DUCK TAPE CONTEST!! And the entries would have to be a object made of ALL DUCK TAPE (100% DUCK TAPE)and could not be something repaired using DUCK TAPE. PLEASE comment back and tell me what you think and if would make a great contest.

Hello Instructables! I have a duct tape question for you! I am in need of a coating for the tape, and would like to know what you guys suggest I plan on making a duct tape satchel and I don't want the edges of each piece of the tape to fray at all. I made a phone case out of tape and noticed that it frays a lot when I put it in my pocket. I was wondering if there is any sort of glue that I can coat my phone case (and future-satchel) with that would be keep the tape from fraying and peeling  Currently, I am using Nashua duct tape.

Talk about different methods of making them.

Recently at school there was an assignment in which we had to do a survey of 20 people.  The teacher came up with 10 Questions and we had to come up with 5.  Seeing that many people liked fire or duct tape, i asked which is better, fire or duct tape?  The typical answer was "that's an impossible question" or "flaming duct tape".  So which is better fire or duct tape? ***UPDATE MAY 5, 2011***  ok so the score so far is duct tape 9, fire 4, and flaming duct tape 1.  and ratings 2 c'mon people lets get some ratings.

These are very nice pair of duct tape Converse. Made by covering normal Converse in duct tape, but I don't think that really counts, anyone out there wanna make a pair from only duct tape? No prize, unless someone wants to donate a patch for the first person to make a pair. Link at BoingBoing

Exactly how the topic sounds. The best uses for cassettes either as containers for sneaky electronics or some creative use for the electronics in a cassette player. (new ideas to store all your Kenny Rodgers tapes are instant DQ!)

I have long been a fan of gorilla glue, but only recently have I even checked out gorilla tape. I thought that duct tape was good enough for most needs, but now I'm pretty much converted over to gorilla tape. Here's why.Last weekend a group that I work with was having a pig roast/potluck in the park. It was a little breezy and I was in charge of putting up some of the signs. I figured I'd give the gorilla tape a try as I was stopping off at the hardware store and it was near the vinyl rope I was picking up.When I got to the potluck site there were some other guys there tearing off sheets of butcher paper to be used as tablecloths. To attach them to the tables they were using big pieces of blue painter's tape. It was ridiculous. Before they were halfway through some pieces were already taking flight, making them run back with more painter's tape.Long story short, I started tearing off small pieces of the gorilla tape and it stuck all the paper down to the old wooden tables good and tight. Everything held strong during the picnic and during clean-up the tape held strong and the paper ripped when we were puling them off.Summary: Gorilla tape is pricier than duct tape, but I ended up using less of it than if I were using duct tape and it held on stronger. Wasn't able to check about residue however.

I'm planning (Read: Going forth with no idea what to do) on making a suit of armor completly made out of duct tape. (Partially made a gauntlet, so it might work) But here's the question I have; Should I post an instructable on each peice (Gauntlet, Helmet, Greives) by itself, or as one big instructable that might have a million steps (Okay, not that many)? I'm leaning more to the idea of one peice at a time, and then when I'm done just putting them all together into one big instructable. What do you all think? And is this project even worth doing? (Will add picture of sad gauntlet reject at later date)

Would like hook up my laptop to a cassette recorder/stereo so that i can make mix tapes from MP3's. My brother's friend did it years ago, but can't remember how he did it for the life of me. Any suggestions on certain cables I need or any other information. Much appreciated.

I have old camcorder analog tapes I would like put onto dvd. I tried dept. store software twice and it didn't work.

I have a problem with a piece of breadboard on a small turntable. i took it apart and and found that the strip of metal from the ac adaptor jack to the rest of the thing has a crack all the way across the strip of metal. I am lazy and inexperienced...and would like to know the easiest way to fix this problem without going to radio crack. it's not my turntable and i also want to mess it up any more. i don't have a soldering gun, but i do have other stuff lying around, like an assortment of tape and glues...can anyone give me any suggestions? thekathy >:]

The duct tape challenge, says you could win a roll of duct tape, but when you click on the "duct tape" link it takes you to Duck tape.. What do you do with it, kidnap ducks? tape several ducks together to make some sort of raft? or is it like fly tape, hang it from the ceiling to get rid of ducks in the kitchen? Or is it for repairing broken or leaking ducks? If you win what will you do with your duck tape?

A few things I thought could make better duct tape wallets. 1: Buss-Pass/ I.D. Pocket, Perhaps a pocket made out of clear packing tape that covers the whole card could be used for I.D. or a Buss-Pass. 2: Coin Purse, A Sideways-facing pocket can be made to fold-out sideways from the wallet, when the pocket is folded-in, It acts like an envelope and keeps the coins in. 3: Dividing Page, A properly sized page taped on the inside "spine" of the wallet could be added to allow for more compartments. 4: Transparent/ Clear Carcass, The Carcass of the wallet could be made with clear packing tape or transparent duct-tape 5: Sports-Grade Grip-Tape/ Hockey Tape Parts, Parts of the wallet could be made from Grip-Tape or Hockey Tape, These products can be found in black, colors or transparent. Does anyone have a good way to apply tape on inside corners? (Not drywall, for which there is lots of info on the web...) I like to cut down cardboard boxes for specific spaces and often need to join two cut  sides to make a corner, and would like to use duct tape or packing tape on the inside and have it look half decent...

Hey everyone!  I was wondering, would it be possible to use the head in one of those cassette-to-AUX adapters as a tape reading head? Finding a new magnetic tape head is like hunting for hen's teeth, so it'd be nice if that were an option.  Many thanks!

These geeks loved duct tape enough to make a whole PC case out of it. It's am impressive feat, but all I can think of is how horrible the smell must be to have it right next to you during and extended FPS session. Duct Tape PC case

So I'm building my first prop and I have a lot of duct tape used... and I mean A LOT, so I was planning on putting a layer of resin on it. But my question is would the resin work with the duct tape or would I have to put another layer of something before I can put the resin.

Just a little helpful note, that you can use dry-erase markers on Duct Tape. While I have not experimented with all brands it has worked for me in the past.
