Anyone knows how to DIY a Solar Turn Table? Answered

 Hi All,

I have been trying to DIY a solar powered turn table, those made for spinning small figurines round and round. However, the research I've done so far on turning dc motors as slow speeds have not been so successful. Things like using PWM, variable resistors, all doesn't seem to work well with a solar panel.

Does anyone have any idea how I can approach this? Thanks!

Rather than run the motor slowly, gear it down - a smaller motor can then be used as well.

Maybe some sort of clutch, so that if the power (light) fails, and the motor stops, the turntable can keep on turning under its own momentum?

I think there is a small rechargeable battery or capacitor that is part of the circuit.  Take apart one of those cheap solar powered calculators to experiment.  Good luck.

thanks for the comment =) I was thinking of doing that too, but it costs like $8 and was hoping not to buy it unless its a last resort.
