Battery powered router
I have a small wireless router that is fed by a ac adapter spitting out 5v, 0.2 amps of DC current. Does anyone know how I could substitute an equivalent battery back for the adapter? Would linking some AAs and a transistor with the adapter output plug be enough?

4 NiCd or NMHd batteries would supply 4.8 volts steady and could handle 200mA fine. Not only that, but they're rechargable.

It all depends what he has avalible to him, I think your idea is a little more "Plausible"

I would recommend a 6 volt battery (a sealed lead acid battery pack) and connect that inline with a 7580 (am I right?) transistor. I know that's not the correct number, but it's something close to that and limits the current to 5 volts. Other than that, it should work fine. Might I ask what brand of router and what you're planning to do with it? Just curious
