You people and your cut rods. But interesting, you're going for a blowback kind of mechanism. That'll be cool just for the feeling for it. But you're wasting some energy from the band into the blow back mechanism. It's interesting you all are taking the same approach of actuating the mechanism right after firing the band. My original intention was to actuate the mechanism only after having fired the bullet so as not to waste energy and to slow down the fire rate to something reasonable. But best of luck, hopefully this concept turns out.

Cut rods- eh i dont care much for them but they make it easier. Blowback was really the only option i thought of at the time. And it is true that i am wasting energy. I will make a simpler version without blowback. Although, there wouldn't be much of a delay in beetween shots. And your original intention sounds tough to have it actuate only after it has been fired. That would slow down the fire rate a ton. Although I am not sure how to have it actuate a mechanism only after it has been fired, other than the blowback mech I came up with. Well, actually now that i think about it i have an idea. Interesting. Don't know what else to say so I'll end it here.

Like I said, the blowback would still be cool for a realistic effect, just not as practical if you're going for performance.

Well the idea is simply to have the lever/the catch/whatever you want to call it--near the end of the gun, at a point at which you're ready to let the ammo fire but of course still at a point where the rubber band has enough tension to drive the mechanism, hence why I was picky and wanted a mechanism with a light trigger pull, the main reason why I haven't been able to make my version yet. And then my idea originally was to have that lever drive a piston back into the trigger mechanism, nothing fancy. I got my inspiration from real firearms that tap off the gas from the barrel because then I knew that the gun wouldn't fire until at least after the last round was flung from the gun.

That's a very cool blowback mech. I wasn't expecting your voice to sound southern, but at least it isn't aggravating at all like in lots of K'nex videos. It will be nice if you got a gun working that uses the mech.
