Seconded - there is no good way to estimate the lifespan/built up stress in the plastic nondestructively.
I do know that without proper sterilization a bottle will only last (food grade) once or twice. I also know that many sterilization methods break down plastic bottles, so they have a limited lifespan in that sense too.
