Internet won't work on my laptop (Windows 8) but says it's connected? Answered

My internet on my Windows 8 laptop isn't working. Whenever I open a tab it says   He's dead, Jim! then under that it says Either Chrome ran out of memory or the process for the webpage was terminated for some other reason. To continue, reload or go to another page.
I've already tried looking for solutions but none of them work for Windows 8. Can someone else please help?

So maybe it's Chrome that is dead and not the internet. Try a different browser. Use Firefox, it's better.

Back to the basics:
Can you access the router?
Do you see the symbol for a working internet in the status bar?
Did you check your internet settings like IP address, DNS server, proxy and so on?
Do you use WiFi instead of a cable connection? If so, do you use the correct settings?
We can try to help, but only if all required infos are available...
Otherwise it is like calling your mechanic from the middle of the desert and to ask him why your car won't start ;)
