I've got a kid's 24" bike - but I'm an adult. Answered

At 5'8", I can still ride it, but I find myself hunching over. Any suggestions on what I can do to make the bike more adult-friendly?

I took it to the bike shop and had the handle raised a bit, and the seat's pretty low already. Do I just have to cave and get a real bike? :(

The seat should be high enough so that when sitting on it you can place your foot flat on the pedal.

Then adjust the handlebars for a comfortable position.

If you are unable to do this then the frame is too small for you.

If you had to go to the bike shop to raise the bars, TRY THIS: http://www.walmart.com/ip/26-Men-s-Roadmaster-Mountain-Sport-All-Terrain-Bike/13398147?findingMethod=rr

If you plan on riding it you need it to fit you better. More than just uncomfortable you can cause back, knee, hip, wrist etc. injuries.

Besides an adult looks silly riding a kids sized bike. lol

Oh, come on! A brightly colored jumpsuit, a nice cylindrical hat, maybe some oversized floppy shoes. He'll look perfectly fine!

I think you're going to have to bite the bullet and a get a bike that fits you. You'll find a properly fitted bike to be a tremendous improvement in both comfort and efficiency - not only will you go faster, it also won't hurt as much!

Honestly, if you're hunching, and especially if your legs are rising above your waist when peddling, you need a larger frame. You're going to do damage to your back that way. If you can afford a purchase, cave. You'll be happier for it in the long run. If you can't afford a purchase, well, the answers kinda obvious...save.
