London Instructablers Meeting 2008?
Funny, just yesterday I was wondering how many Instructoblians lived around London and today I find this group. Are the London Instructables-ites still interested in meeting up? (For that matter, did anything happen following the previous thread?) I think we should get together just to prove that you don't have to live in the Bay Area to meet other people of a DIY persuasion. I'm available pretty much any time outside working hours given a little notice, and check the site pretty religiously so am easily contactable.

Instructoblians? IT'S INSTRUCTABLERS! :P

I took the word "Instructoblians" (which I actually use quite a lot) from the great https://www.instructables.com/id/Bacon-Placemats/
(trebuchet spelt it Instructlobians, which was probably either a typo or a difference of opinion, but I think my version flows off the tongue better)
I was considering writing "Instructable-wrights" where I actually put "people of a DIY persuasion" but that was just too much butchering of the language for one paragraph.

I prefer Instructablers, or even just 'iblers.

If somebody was able to organise an event in London, I think more people would be able to get to it than an Eastern Suffolk event.
If that is the case, I'd happily stand my event down in favour of a London Show and Tell.

Oh... ok, that completely slipped under my proverbial radar, but then it was only a week ago. I wasn't thinking anything as significant as a Show & Tell event, although that was perhaps my ultimate aim in getting the UK Instructablers together. I'd love to come to a Show & Tell, though. It would probably be easier to hold in London if such a thing was going to happen, but then we're at the mercy of finding a suitable venue as well as just tranport links.

London a little further for the northerners ;)
I think Suffolk would be great, I've never been that way. =)

If you're coming by train, you often have to come via London, or if you end up in Norwich, it's a 60-mile train journey to travel between towns 25 miles apart.
PKM: I can't fix a date (or venue) yet until I know the date of my son's op. If you find a venue, feel free to go ahead. I'll come to you instead of the other way.

hmm.... it also depends on price, and what's happening.

OK, I was really just suggesting that Instructablers around london could maybe meet up in a pub or somewhere like that like Cesar Harada suggested last year, but I was originally lamenting the lack of Show&Tell and similar meetings this side of the pond. Kiteman: I wasn't trying to usurp your event, and I'm 96% sure you'd do a better job of organising it than me- I understand you can't commit to when/where right now. I think it would be prudent to see how your suggestion pans out in terms of venue/time/transport before committing to a switch to London, but if we do decide that I'd definitely be up for taking part in the organisation. I'd also like to join the others in wishing Kiteson well :)

OK, and thanks.

Damn now there's another one, I suppose a train to london is a more reasonable proposition in one way but still not easy, fancy having it under the bridge, I can come directly by boat lol
