Need ideas for a lamp in my kitchen! Answered

Hi guys!

i was thinking about making a lamp for my kitchen.. just for fun!

but i got limited resources - i dont have a dremel and so on..
but i have a soldering iron on stuff! so i was thinking about making some sort of LED lamp.. but then the next thing.. they run on 12v DC and here in denmark we have 220v AC in our wires.. so is it possible to get some sort of transformer?

well im looking forward to suggestions!

thanks!

Last time I needed a lamp I looked around my mom's things and I found a lamp that didn't work anymore, I unscrewed it and a cable was loose, so it was an easy fix. Then I removed everything but the electrical system, and made myself a pretty lamp, Lignumvital already gave you a lot of awesome decoration ideas!

I cant help with electrical work, but I can help with materials. Ive seen some beautiful lamps made from welded together plastic forks, card board laminated. You cold even get a balloon, resin, and yarn. Inflate the balloon, soak the yarn in the resin, and wrap around the balloon. Pop balloon (after resin has dried) insert lighting, and you have a self made contemporary light fixture. You dont even have to use yarn, leaves, paper, and just about anything else that can absorb the resin will work. You could even steam bend wood (pop sickle sticks) in the microwave into a form you like. Add some brass nuts and polish with gun blue and it is even steam punk.

Ordinary LEDs run on less than a volt each - an ordinary AD→DC transformer will run lots.

You'll need to add resistors to protect the LEDs, though.
