Soil Alternatives?
What are some good soil alternatives? You see, I want to grow a simple bean plant, but I can't use any soil (since I will eventually make a mess in my apartment, and it'll be hard to clean it up).

Google "planting media" and "growing media" and you'll have some other alternatives. I'd pick one for you but I don't know exactly which one you would prefer.

Perlite comes to mind for a hydro garden.

Plain sand will work, as long as you water and feed properly (sand has none of the nutrients of normal soil).
Or how about hydroponics? Search this site, there are loads of hydroponic projects of all scales.
