what is a good motor/alternator/generator to use for a bike generator that's cheap (under $50, preferably under $20)? Answered

I'm on a budget and the bike is going to be mobile so I need a cheap motor but I also need it to be light. The bike would be used to power a USB hub where any USB powered device would be charged or used. So all i need is 5 V. I don't think an alternator would work becuase they look very heavy and I would be riding about 10-20 mi. round trip. It must be light and as far as attaching it goes I intend to use an instructable on bike generators or just plumbers ties to attach it. The only instructable that met all the requirements I've named that I've seen was https://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Charge-Any-USB-Device-by-Riding-Your-Bike/ . That motor was too expensive "We decided to stick with our Maxon 90, which was a beautiful motor, even though its cost was $275." . Thus the need for a cheap light motor to charge a USB driven device. By the way, thanks for everyone that has posted so far!

How would I make a simple Infrared Heater?

I am planning on build ing IR Heater. would a 6 millimeter IR emmiter with 960 millimeter wavelength work to produce heat? If your not aware with IR heaters then here is a short explanation: A normal heater such as a gas heater heats up the surrounding air, but a IR heater uses infrared waves to heat up surfaces of objects. So instead of heating surrounding air the IR waves heat up surfaces of objects. Also IR waves penetrate the epidermise (top layer of skin). Here is a diagram of what the circuit looks like. The question is would this circuit work? Also are 6millimeter IR emmiter with 960 millimeter wavelength work?

Looking for homemade candy recipes!!!! Answered

Me and my friends are looking for some extra money and decided that we were going to try to sell some homemade candy. We are looking for some easy-ish recipes, but we are willing to try some harder ones too. We are on a pretty (very) low budget. Maybe $25 or so. So, if you know any recipes personally, or the URL's to some other recipes online, please include them in your answer. Alternatively, you could private message your recipes and info to me on YouTube. My channel is TNTutorials. Please do your best to contribute. We are doing our best to save up money for some personal goals, and the civilians in my neighborhood are candy heads, so we thought that this should work. Please take this seriously, and try to contribute! Thanks!!!

Potential $5 RC Hovercraft

Hey y'all, I was bored, so I made this RC hovercraft, kinda like a Tiny Whoov, from the guts of a $5 RC helicopter (sold at most FiveBelows). The idea is that a hovercraft is more fun than a cruddy helicopter, in addition to being a fun and easy DIY project for the weekend. It could be a nice gift to a kid. My first concern was that the motors would not provide enough power to get the thing moving. They give more than enough power, and this thing can MOVE. My second concern is that the differential thrust steering system (one motor turns faster than the other, steering the hovercraft) would not be effective enough. This is still a problem that I don't have the enthusiasm or time to solve anymore. Maybe someone could figure out how to reprogram the FC board to have more differential thrust (is that possible?), or somehow configure a servo or actuator without raising the cost of materials too much. Anyway, here's the concept, go have fun with it.Supplies:Foam platesHot glue$5 RC helicopter with 2 motors and receiver (LED optional, but really cool)Connector (the battery might be soldered directly to the FC board, so this will make it easier to fiddle with)Soldering iron (not %100 necessary, but it can come in handy)Propellers (see design notes)Design notes:Notice how the underside of the hull is curved and smooth. I used propellers from a Blade Inductrix FPV Pro, but any micro quad propellers should work. Notice the nice little compartment under the FC board where you can stick a battery without the need for Velcro or glue. This would be a very easy FPV mod, but that would add about $20 to the cost.
