But only for a week. Gotcha! We're off on holiday tomorrow (Saturday 24th, UK calender) for a week in Whitby - fossils on the beaches, jet in the shops, Dracula's landfall, but no internet at all.Be good, don't break anything, and if the Instructables TV show gets off the ground in the next seven days, remember that I called dibs on the presenter slot. There's not a lot of need or point in replying to this thread (since I'm not going to be reading it until I'm back), I'm really just letting you know so nobody panics...where's Kiteman? It's all gone quiet, the post rate is down, our spelling is falling apart, the woowoo brigade are taking over...

To be plain, I just can't be a part of a site that promotes pornography, being defined "Pornography is any material depicting or describing the human body or sexual conduct in a way that arouses sexual feelings. It is distributed through many media, including magazines, books, television, movies, music, and the Internet." Many of you probably won't understand my reasoning, few understand that aren't Mormon (and even a few that are Mormon don't understand). But I have to. I can't express how crushing this is to me. I really love this site. It's been just great learning and chatting here. It's been fun sharing my little projects, too. Bye.

Member 'Nepheron' has decided to withdraw from the community, unexpectedly. He deleted most of his instructables and removed information from the rest, rendering them useless. The only one left is Sugru metal casting. It mentions on his profile that he no longer wishes to participate in the community... Has anyone talked with him or have information on why he left?

I'm going to be offline for a few days, going on holiday. After lunchtime today (it's 10am now), I'll be completely non-contact until at least Wednesday, then a maybe a bit of time here until the Wednesday after that.Don't expect reliable contact until the 21st.Be good.Somebody keep an eye on the squabblers for me.Off-site spamOff-site spamAnd don't forget to vote for my entries in The Book.EDIT:OK, I'm sort of back online, way up in the NW UK. I've just started browsing what I've missed - Eric's history of SquidLabs looks very interesting, and I seem to have won (another) t-shirt in the robot contest (Kitewife has claimed this one, though).Off to check The Book...

This site has jumped the shark. It used to be a good place to find DIY projects of all kinds for all skill levels. Over the past few years, it has changed in the following ways. - The majority of new instructables on the site involve elite technology - 3D printers, laser cutters, etc - that are too expensive or require a membership to Techshop or similar to have access to them. In other words, they are mildly interesting to see what's possible, but of no use to the average person. - Many instructables are just implementations of things that can be commonly found on Pinterest and are being passed off as original ideas. - Drug content has started showing up as instructables. While I understand that some states have legalized cannabis, not all have, and I don't want my family to be exposed to it. - "Collections" may be useful in some cases to pull together instructables on a common theme, such as photography or boat building, but they are overused so much that they clog up everything else on the site. Again, it's an example of people posting without creating any new content. - I'm a non-paying member of the site and the ads and other "recommended links" have started taking over everywhere. For years I've been following the site and checking the recent instructables posts almost daily to see what's new. The site continues to meet other's needs, and that's what's important, but I'm sorry to say that it's no longer worth my time.

I'm not kidding, I am leaving ibles, but I probably won't sell my knex. I'll hang around for 3 days, then that will be all for me. Its mainly because I get too many comments and I can't reply to them because of my crappy computer. It takes 1.5 hours to do it. If you have replied to one of my comments, and I haven't answered, post it here.

I might post a little bit using my someone else's computer but I don't think I will. I'm backbut my computer isn't though...Now it is! but it wasn't fixed Apparently *annoyed mocking voice* screen cracks aren't covered under the waranty :-P

Hi guys, just wanted to let you know that I don't think I'll be on ibles anymore, there are just more important things in my life than K'nex. Sorry if this looks like i'm just trying to get publicity too, I'm not. And if you think I'm fake, then I must be the best faker in the world. PS. If you're interested in buying some of my K'nex or all of it, please let me know. I have about 15 pounds, and if anyone is interested in buying I might do a full piece count.

I am sorry to say that I will no longer be able to share my Instructables with you nice folks. It seems the powers that be have decided to make it difficult to concede to their demands and rules. I am leaving this site under duress and will miss you all very much. It has been great sharing my stuff with you. Adios and farewell. Triumphman. December 2013.

Hey everyone, I have built many projects and gained many followers. After building many projects out of knex, I think i may be coming to the end of my building with knex. I don't want this to end but whenever I try to build nothing ever seems to work. Well i hope to have at least 3 more instructables up, maybe less or more. I just don't have the inspiration to build anymore and I hate to stop building. What do you think i should do? -KnexFreak360

I may have only been here for 2 years but this site is changing a bit too much for my tastes. In those 2 years most of the major changes have been pretty recent. Why they haven't implemented legacy views yet baffles me. Or allowing us to customize our own personal layout. By personal layout I mean that each person can customize how the site looks to HIM OR HER. If they implemented that I would be willing to put up with the bugs and glitches it would cause just for the fact that it pleases my eye. What they seem to be doing is copying facebook's style. This absolutely sickens me. I HATE facebook and the only reason I got it was to see just how bad it is. The layout for facebook form over function. It is needlessly over complicated I am a function over form guy. I bet most of the people here are function over form too. Don't be a facebook. If you do I will take my 10$ worth of advertising else where. Maybe if a couple thousand leave you will get it.

Hell no! I will never give up Instructables! However, I am getting far too addicted to Instructables and I cannot concentrate on my projects... So I need to take a break from instructables, that means I will be inactive for a while, maybe about a week or two.. I will begin being inactive when it passes 12:00 AM in San Fransisco. So, bye to everyone who likes me... ;-(UPDATE:I am back!

Well I wasn't that active in making guns, but I think I should move on to bigger things. I will still lurk around instructables, however you wont see me doing knex guns unless I have an ingenious new idea that I'm sure I can portray correctly. I will probably be making instructables pertaining to: Art, Guitar, Video games, and other things, that is all goodbye and goodnight! P.S: 5th pic is an experimental curved mag I was developing around a year ago to go on my mp7, anyone is welcome to use it as long as they give me proper credit and link me to the instructable/slideshow.

Hey everyone I'm leaving knex now and I just wanted to thank all of my subscribers and friends I've mad on this site! Also I wanted to know how much someone is willing to offer for 25-30lbs of knex. Thanks everyone and I encourage the rest of you to KEEP knexing!

I'll be gone from this Sunday to the next, away from all civilization and technology (at least it feels that way) in the small town of Salina, Kansas, home of wheat. I'm leaving to celebrate my grandpa's 100th birthday! I will have no access to computers, so don't expect anything coming from me during that time (not that you expected anything anyway....) I'm bringing my camera and tripod, as I did last year. Does anyone have any cool photographic ideas or other things I can do out in a wheat farm or on an airplane? Any iBle ideas? Thanks, and bye, Bran.

Knex Gun Builder is giving up knex forever. This saddens me greatly and I don't want such a wonderful builder, and such a wonderful member of this site to just walk away forever. Knex is such a wonderful thing and you can express your ideas through knex whether you are young or old. If you want him to stay and keep his knex, LEAVE A COMMENT. NOW. If we can get 30 people to leave a comment saying they want him to stay, then, he will. C'mon guys, be a part of this, and post the link to this topic on other's orange boards. Well everybody, I'm leaving again. This time I'll be gone for over a month to Iran. I will have dial up, but I won't be very active here. Hopefully I'll be able to squeeze in a few more ibles before I leave on Tuesday. Robot is also coming (in two of his shirt, and 2 of his patch reincarnations).

How can you dissolve the silicon (and possibly solder) off of a PCB to leave the copper traces? Thanks

Hello! I bought a li-on battery ( http://m.ebay.de/itm/281697770691?varId=580703135130) and it has this little switch. I want to build a boombox and dont want to open it everytime to turn it on or off. I also dont want to rip the switch appart because i sind want to destroy the batterypack. Can i leave it turned on and place a switch between the circuit and the batterypack? Or will i destroy it if i leave it on all the time?

I'm leaving for Lake Chelan tomorrow morning. Just to let you know. The five hour drive will be nothing compared to the eleven hour drive I had to take last week (both ways). I won't have access to Internet unless I visit an internet cafe, so see you the 24th!

Celeste, aka Danger is my middle name, has been an intern here at Instructables for the summer. Today is her last day and she is making sure to leave her mark behind with these great paper stars! Thanks for being so awesome!

I just purchased a Pro account and noticed that generating a PDF leaves off the text in the 'Intro' section. That does not happen on the 'View all steps on one page' option. Is this a bug? Is there a work around? It certainly leaves out a lot of very valuable information in the Instructable. Thanks

I recently made a project and people cannot leave comments (I noticed after somebody messaged me saying they could not leave a comment). There appears to be no comment section at the end of the project. See https://www.instructables.com/id/Heat-Powered-Paper-Carousel/ I am using a PC with Google Chrome. I do not know what the other person was using. Thanks in advance for your help!

Sadly since i sold my knex (about a year ago now) i honestly dont know what there is to make so im leaving instructables. i havent been here in so long i struggled to find out how to make this forum thread. and now that i am addicted to youtube and minecraft i cant see myself ever making another instructable. so thats why im leaving. but on the brighter side im starting a new youtube series but it has nothing to do with building or anything that you would find on here. anyways its been fun sharing my creations with everyone and i had a good time soooooo............ i guess its goodbye... -slithien- RIP 11/08/2006 to 29/05/2012

After 2 hours, I realized she should be at home but she doesn't. I guess she missing and this afternoon, she's still not appear. I raise the cat since she was born. This is her first pregnant. Actually, she's very friendly to me all the time. I love her so much. Please, tell me what to do. I can't lose her.

Well, goodbye :( Please note: Do not delete my account please eric or the instructables team, i may want to come back some day. Hahaha! Gotcha all! Why would I want to leave the site?

It occurs to me that a lot of power is supplied to pump water into my home -- into my showers, dishwasher, sinks, toilets, etc. And then, as that water plummets from the second story bathroom back into the ground, it builds up a lot of power due to gravity -- and it just goes whooshing away. So let's develop some sort of mechanism that will harvest the energy of that moving water as it leaves our homes. The initial thought is turbines or wheels, sure, but you have to remember the stuff that is leaving the house in that water: hair, food scraps, and all your bathroom functions. So we need to either develop a system that cannot be jammed, filter & divert the water before it reaches our device, or develop a system that harvests the energy without interfering with the flow.

Non lethal poison blow darts.? I was thinking about making blow darts then the topic struck me, could common natural non lethal poisons or toxins be used in blow darts. This sounds a bit vague, so heres and example: you take poison ivy leaves and either wipe the darts on the leaves or grind up the leaves then rub darts in the mix. Would this work, how effective would this be?. I am not planning on even attempting to try this, this is for informational purposes

So I've got a real problem with leaving my stuff behind when I head out the door, and I was wondering how possible it would be to have a small device to help that. What I was envisioning, essentially, was little chips, RFID chips maybe, that you'd attach to your phone, wallet, keys, anything else. A reader would sit by the door, low power enough to give it just enough range to scan the doorway. You'd leave, but there'd be a sign on the wall showing checkmarks next to the things you have. Adding something to the list shouldn't be too difficult, or setting up a different person. This could show on a screen or using some kind of mechanical method. Either way, shouldn't need to ever be more than eight items. Anyone done something like this?
