I need ideas for a multiplayer mobile video game!

Hello! I am Frenzikk, and I would like to ask you all for some video game ideas for my next project! It needs to be a mobile game, multiplayer, up to 4 people. ONLY 4 PEOPLE. It can be 3D. To point you in the right direction of what I am wanting, here is a list of things that might spark some ideas in your head : Space, Building, Sandbox, Action, Shooter.    ALSO, it needs to be "KID-FRIENDLY", sort of. I don't want any blood, or real guns. Laser guns are fine, but nothing bad.      Thank you, Frenzikk.

1 Console 4 displays

So here's the problem, my friends and I are in college and love our x-box console, but hate the small screen. Not having a big scren, we are trying to find out how to get the one console to have four screens. We all have smaller TV's and there is on medium one in our living room. The game splits up 4 players into equal quaters of the screen. My thought is that the x-box video should go into a laptop and then be split u into 4 displays, with the laptop screen being the a full screen. The laptop in question has 1 S-video, 1 standard monitor output, and 5 USB ports. How do we do this, for cheap? I'm thinking it would maybe work like those walls of TV's that make up 1 big picture.

Minecraft LP

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know that I've started a minecraft LP. That's pretty much where I talk while playing minecraft and share my take on the game. I'm going to be releasing episodes once a week, usually more than that. I only have one episode up so far but check it out and if you like it, subscribe or just look out for new epsiodes, I'll probably have a second one up by tonight. Here's the link to the first episode: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WI-ixfbrIkU. On a related note, I also have a less formal series going up which is just my friend and I playing survival multiplayer. I won't be releasing episodes of that series as constantly as my single player but that one's a little more fun and we're basically just messing around. If you're interested in that, here's the link to the first episode: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikii5Cs8UdU. Also, I might get some other people to play with us in the multiplayer survival world so if you'd like to participate in that send me a PM and we'll see. Thanks for reading and don't forget to subscribe if you like the videos.

Battlefield 2 pc problem

Battlefield 2 - Multiplayer Problem - After the map first loads, the "Select Checkpoint/Kit" menu pops up like normal, but I can not move the mouse cursor and the keyboard buttons do nothing in the game. Pressing Tabs-Lock makes the beep sound as if the Squad menu just popped up, but the screen stays the same (checkpoint/kit) and the mouse cursor stays in the middle of the screen. I can here the battle sounds in the background, and the checkpoint map changes flags as in real time play, but I can not start playing. This problem occurred after the game froze on 2 consecutive attempts, each freeze causing me to hard power-off the computer. After 3 attempts brought me the frozen cursor and keys, I reinstalled BF2 (just the original) and ran a virus scan. After the reinstall of the game, I tried once more to log on to Multiplayer, but it resulted in the same problem. The game has been working great for me for the past few months, and I was playing it already today.

Problems with Modern Warfare 2 (PC)

Ok so i just bought MW 2 on Steam and after i installed it and clicked play on single player, it would crash. I can hear the Infinity Ward Logo do that spinning thing, and then it crashes.  I get the IW4SP.EXE error.  In the past 3 days, ive been able to play single player once.   When i try to play multiplayer, i get the menu screen for multiplayer but i cannot move my mouse into the menu (I have two monitors).  I tried unplugging my second monitor and i still couldnt move my cursor.   I tried all of the "remedies" online and nothing seems to work.   My PC specs are 8GB of ram, Intel i7-2720QM @2.20GHz, Windows Pro, NVIDIA Quadro 1000M (Updated it the day before getting the game).  HP ElietBook 8560w any help would be greatly appreciated, as I have no where else to turn and I'll be really mad if I spent 15 bucks on a game I got to play once. Thanks!!

Superstruct is here!

From the Superstruct FAQ: Superstruct is the world's first massively multiplayer forecasting game. By playing the game, you'll help us chronicle the world of 2019--and imagine how we might solve the problems we'll face. Because this is about more than just envisioning the future. It's about making the future, inventing new ways to organize the human race and augment our collective human potential.Seems rather interesting to me.Link

Games for LAN play?

So, I live in a dorm now with a few other students. We'd like to play a game together on our personal laptops, but we don't know which ones would be good to play. Requirements: 1. No internet access required. 2. 2-16 players or more. Multiplayer-only games are OK, but single player would be nice too. 3. Mainstream games are fine, but if you know of any indie games, that would be even better. 4. It doesn't have to be new. In fact, from 1990-2008 would be just fine. 5. Most of all, it has to be fun to play. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Triple View LCD Screen

Hello everyone, While playing with a lenticular, animated ruler. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lenticular_printing) I had a bout of sudden inspiration. what if I applied that to a monitor. I am aware there's some 3d stuff out there using that trick but honestly it's a bit crappy and not really what I want to try. What my idea is a flat screen monitor that displays a different image depending on if you're looking at it head on, or 45 degrees from the left/right side. It'd be nice for a photo display or multiplayer gaming. The tricky part is splicing 3 monitors to display different images (I was thinking a triple vga out and layering it all but I'm still a bit of a newb when it comes to this stuff. What would you guys suggest would be the most efficient way to get it all set up and working?

HALO for us knexers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, i got the idea from a topic talking about a knex war. Then I thought "why dont we have one?????"so, i found out about how to get halo for free on the internet (from the microsoft website), and i have participated in a few multiplayer games. However, there can only be 8 participants max because that is the limit my internet will support (and it is very fast too.) So, i have set a password on the game, and you will be a participant on a first-come-first-serve basis. the first 8 to sign up will receive the password to the game, and will have the pleasure of getting killed by me.PARTICIPANTS1. DJ Radio2. Benfoxg3. Derinsleep4. 5. 6. nerfer 1927. Darth gecko man8.for the participants, here are the instructions:click here to download the trial version. when they ask for your age, click 18 on the drop-down box. Set it up, and name your profile your ibles username. you might want to sort your controls at this point too. To join the game, click on "multiplayer", click on "internet" then "get list". Click on "instructables", then enter the password.a few ground rules on the game-when you join, make sure your profile name is your ibles username. I do not want to think a hacker got into the game.-if someone says they are typing, if you spot them, do not shoot them, as it ruins the whole game experience. if they say they are typing, but you see them moving, you go ahead and shoot, they are lying-NO VERBAL FIGHTING-you can post comments mid-game, but no fighting people. If you shoot someone, its all right, but no "f you" or stuff like that.-FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE RULES WILL RESULT IN THE GAME BEING SHUT DOWNA word of warning to you guys:-make sure you have a fast processor (2 ghz at least), and at least 2 GB of ram. the game will run smoothly if you do-make sure you have a fast internet connection, as the game file is large in size. I need the fastest connection, as i am the game hostok here's the lineup for what we will do during the game.first, every person must stay at a base until i say ready. when i do, you may move out to try to look for a flamethrower hidden in the game arena. you may shoot whoever, but you only win if you find the flamethrower and shoot me. After, we will have a warthog race, the first thing we do is try to fight our way to the hog, and then drive to the starting line which is near the place where the flamethrower was found. then we do a 4 lap race along the perimeter of the arena, and the 4 who do not participate in the race get to shoot us down along the way. the next game will be a free-for-all slayer where the one with the highest score wins

The massivly long details for Chromehounds: Tribute Edition

Unless you've seen my original post, go to https://www.instructables.com/community/Chromehounds-shall-rise-again-at-least-I-hope-/ These are my basic ( and many ideas about the game) IDEA 1 : Rebuild::: ---------------------------------------------     I will probably start with this then move to idea 2, or I could base the project on the original and release the beta, then I'll add an expansion to include the original tutorial missions in the final. --------------------------------------------- IDEA 2: Sequeal::: ---------------------------------------------    This would be based 20 years after the Neroimus Wars, about 2040 (something like that, still working on it). Rafzakael has stopped operations leaving mercenaries scattered throughout the region. The peace that lasted after the wars was short lived, due to imperialistic moves by all three nations. The second Neroimus War starts after Morskovian forces attack a Sal Kar Village and a Tarakian patrol receives an incorrect order and destroys a Morskovian patrol. New advances in technology allows hounds to be stronger, take more damage, but these changes are countered by even more powerful weapons. Features: - Unidentified Weapons (M99, MSK-X0, Ghalib) can end up on the same battlefield and are a tad more common. (still once per war) - Experimental weapons will actually work - In ranked matches it's possible to lose parts (up for debate) - That stupid news feature it shows at the beginning will be accessible only through a menu. - Some current day weapons (Railguns, guided missiles, etc. But these will be limited by extreme weight, power, and cool-down time). - Some requested parts (TBD (to be determined)) - "Modded" parts (trade offs on certain parts; higher power for more heat, or more damage for less range and such) - Preserves tactical feel and maybe some HUD modifications - PC only for the time being. It's a major pain to get stuff on the Xbox. - A website where people can share their hound set ups and download them to the game. - New stat system for hounds and parts. - Multiplayer (can't give many details yet, probably LAN at first, but I'll see what I can do with UDK) - Variable weather on some maps - Also some new multiplayer maps. - Maps will still be basic to help out lower powered computers - Low spec mode will be able to be used. - A Java based utility app will be included(includes squad rankings, scores, parts that you have, also includes a builder so you can build hounds while the battle is finishing). - Online sync for parts so cheaters can't get free parts. - Possibly some kind of tournament that's run (maybe ever 2-3 months, to be voted) - "Death Cam" lets you watch your allies while your dead, rather than running around with a useless assault rifle. - Other ideas/ concepts can be requested and voted on, and any of these ideas can be voted on also. --------------------------------------------- That's about all I have for now, it will be about march when I release the final (sooner if I can get community help). --------------------------------------------- Help wanted:: --------------------------------------------- - Screenshots - 3-d models - Voices - Sounds - Maps (made in UDK please) - Ideas/ concepts - Storyline - Practically anything else attributed to the game. --------------------------------------------- Websites:: --------------------------------------------- - http://chromehounds.addicted-gamer.com/ (great for part/ game info) - http://chromehoundste.blogspot.com/ The main site for now. - http://www.indiedb.com/members/nerdman234 Secondary site for updates - http://www.westwindpmc.net/forums/viewforum.php?f=5 Yet another site I post on. ------------------------------------------- Whew.... /rant  -Nerdman234 Chromehounds is not my original idea, Sega and From Software created it. I am merely recreating it.

Typo-Squatting (Misspelled Domain Name scams)

Here's a Very interesting article about of of the most common internet problem: Typo-SquattingTypo-squatting is the practice of creating domain names that are often misspelled names for bigger brands. For example: Runescape is a popular free MMORGP (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game). There are sites which names are misspelled versions of Runescape. A few I encountered while playing:RuenscapeRunscapeRiunscapeThese misspelled sites are mainly used for either- online scams- pay by click ads - which feature popular search terms for the original site. The misspelled site gets payed every time someone clicks on one of those.- Spyware and AdwarePopular targets for this practice is google, apple, microsoft,For example, I will demonstrate the case of the iphone:from McAfee:By the end of 2007, at least 8,000 URLs using the word iphone will be registered, according to a well known domain expert. The most valuable iphone.com is owned by Apple itself, but when Steve Jobs announced the product early in 2007, Apple didn't own the iphone domain yet. One expert estimates that Apple paid at least $1 million to buy that piece of valuable Web real estate. Among the 8,000 registered URLs incorporating iphone are community fan sites, rumor and hack sites and, of course, scam sites. Freeappleiphonesnow dot com claims to offer free iPhones and variants that don't even exist (like the iPhone "shuffle" and "nano".) The URL is nothing more than a redirect to royalsweeps dot com . When we tested the site, we received debt consolidation offers, get rich quick solicitations, "free" cell phone prizes and other questionable e-mail. Many of the iphone-related domains are misspellings, or typos. Iohone dot com, for example, was registered on January 9, 2007, the day Apple officially announced the iPhone. In August 2007, the site consisted of pay-per-click ads for iPhone-related Web sites. Microsoft says that on an average day more than 2,000 domain names are registered that contain Microsoft trademark terms.According to the US Government Accounting Office, at least 8.65% of all domain names are registered with false or incomplete Whois information, a practice that makes domain squatting easier. More recently, in September 2007, the managers of the .eu top level domain suspended 10,000 domains registered by a Chinese woman who was accused of being a cyber-squatter. The first two Images are from the domains Freeappleiphonesnow and Iohone The other images are from microsoft dot cm and another website that results in 482 spammy emails a week. The last image is from McAfee

What are the restirctions/requirements to play with model rockets in your country?

I wanted to start again with an old hobby of mine and buy some rocket motors and one or two easy rocket models. Just for the fun of seeing things to fly high and come down slow you know? Depending on which country you can call your residency now you might luagh about what happened to me: I went to first model building shop I could find nearby in my Yellow pages. Of course that had no clue about rockets, not even remote controlled cars as they only build build models for multiplayer board games. Next shop was selected a bit better with a focus on all things remote controlled. Here I was told that only a few shops actually sell any rocket related stuff due to the tough legal requirements of storage, handling and selling - WTF?? (excuse the language!) But at least I got an address for a shop that would be abe to help me figuring it all out. Last but not least I finally entered a shop filled with all sorts of model rockets, from simple to realist replicas of Saturn 5 engines. "Can I see your permit please?" "Do you have a club memebrship card stating you can buy engines?" "Can you provide the required details on your storage facilities and fire control system?" That were just a few of the questions thrown at me when I went to the checkout with 3 little rockets asking on where to find the engines and ingintion kits..... Turns out here in AU it is far easier to obtain a firearm and license than to get what you need to shoot a plastic rocket 100 or 200m high in the air.... Without being a member of a recognised model rocket club you won't have access to a legal launch area. Without your club permit you can't obtain a license required to buy a model rocket engine - yes we are taking about these paper tubes every kid uses.... Without the license, club membership and the required club permits you will never (legally) buy a rocket motor... To make things worse the 4 clubs I contacted only supply motors they buy to their members, at about 20% above market price of course and you won't get a card to buy your own until you are a member for at least three years... I already know in Germany and the US things are quite different but I would still like to know how exactly it works in your contry or if your face similar problems outside US and EU territory.

LFG that wants to learn to make games together

*FOR LEARNING NOT FOR PROFIT* So, I've got a few game ideas floating around in my head that I'd like to make, or at least have a hand in developing. However, I do not have the knowledge or experience yet to make these games, so I'd like to make a team that wants to gain experience working on a project that they can add to their portfolios. Should help those who have ability but no guidance especially, or who just want to have fun and make a game. 1) Modern version of Chromehounds with a lot more single and multiplayer features. Idea for the name: Wolf Pack Relative Difficulty: Easy Shooter with overall simpler animations and modelling due to no soft models such as humans required. Can practice making a large variety of models, sounds, stats for items, and hit detection. Also play around with various textures and allowing for players to customize textures. I know M.A.V. is being made but so far that isn't quite what I'm looking for. I have my own ideas on squad mechanics to add. 2) Darker story RPG set in the Mediterranean. Combat similar to Dragon's Dogma. Idea for the name: Road to Retribution Story Prologue http://roadtoretribution.blogspot.com/ Relative Difficulty: Hard Dragon's Dogma has a very awesome combat system, but that also requires a lot of animation skill to pull off. Models are harder because they are organic and so is texturing. 3) Science Fiction Adventure/Shooter using NASA models as inspiration for human designs (look up NASA FTL ship) Relative Difficulty: Moderate Blend of the previous two in terms of how easy and hard for the same reasons. No story/lore behind this yet, figured if I can get a group of people together I can always make the lore based on suggestions. 4) A Total War style game on the Wii U. I do have an idea on how it'd play but... Relative Difficulty: Hahaha, no. For a fresh team to work on that I would have to say no. 5) Whatever the team decides. 1-3 are ordered according to which idea i want done first. #4 I'd love to make simply to prove that the idea would work, but I don't see me getting a group capable of pulling off Rome 1 essentially with the control system of the Wii U, especially since I'd need to get a Wii U myself to test out the capabilities of the touch controls. Still, I'd like to think it's viable for a larger company. I myself am learning Unity and Maya atm, have dabbled in Blender a bit as well, but I am not far enough to carry the modeling by myself. I can however write the stories and dialogue much better, have an idea on how to break down the design process to increase the efficiency, and will ensure we don't overextend ourselves. Remember, the entire point of all this is to get a team to work together, learn the problems that arise working in a team with people in different positions in this industry, and most importantly, get some experience making a game. All while having fun. If it seems the game is going really well, we could crowdfund it, but that isn't the point. This is to learn the game development process by experiencing it outside of a classroom. Positions wanted, but not exclusive Modelers Animators Concept Artists Texture Specialists Sound/Music Developers Programmers Level Designers

ISP's an their sneaky ways of limiting your internet to a crawl

With more and more restiction hitting internet users I though I write a bit about the methods used to make our life harder than necessary. First example: Heavy gamer... Some people love their Xbox or PC for only one reason, online gaming. Too bad when all of a sudden your ping rates go sky high or the chat has a lag making good conversations during the game impossible. Second example: Streaming media... People like to watch what they want and when they want. Online streaming is a good way to get the latest trailers, catch up with your favourite shows or just to kill some time. Too bad when you notice the connection takes forever and that you can only watch in low quality without running into buffer problems. Last but not least P2P.... Although used for mainly illegal stuff, P2P is still not dead. A lot of software and even collections of documents are shared by the use of various P2P networks. Torrents are the most common ones but it really does not matter once your ISP has hit you hard. So what have all these in common when we speak about ISP troubles you might wonder? Well, firstly they cause a lot of traffic and secondly a large number of connections at the same time. Why would my ISP limit me? 1. You are using your internet for illegal downloads. Although in many cases the ISP won't be able to tell what you are downloading, but they can clearly see the volume of the downloads and that a P2P system is used. Does not take a genius to realise several GB a week on a constant base can't be all legal. 2. Cheap ISP A lot of our providers rent their bandwidth from another provider. This way they can provide cheaper prices but have to make sure not go over the allowance as it would could dearly. A good way of preventing this is to limit speed during so called peak hours - basically whenever a lot of people are online. 3. Your area.... Let's say you are living in a densly populated area. There you often have a single exchange for all internet and phone users. Although the numbers of possible users can be increased by adding more hardware, the bottleneck is the feed to this exchange. As they are owned by a single provider and every other ISP has to pay for the use it becomes clear that this provider will have the best speeds and traffic allowances for the people connected. In return the other ISP(s) will be reduced in speed and sometimes even the type of connection possible, for example blocking all P2P traffic completely. How do I find out what is happening to me? This is indeed a hard one! No ISP will tell you "Yes, we limited you to xxxx and these services are not working on your connection: ...." Their fineprint states you have internet and Email, depending where you are maybe online TV services. But this is only true for standard ports and protocols used! So for your favorite online game it might be possible to download the latest update in the GB range within minutes but still encounter a massive lag during the play sessions. Similar story for low speeds. It is common practise to prioritise traffic to local speed testing servers. This means no matter what "problem" you might have all test will give positive results. So you might be able to get high speeds in your tests but watching a Youtube video can mean to first buffer the entire video before you can watch it. You ISP won't support any requests as long as common speed tests work fine for you. A sure way of testing is to download a Linux distribution from a remote server. How long does it take to download? Now do the same using a P2P download of the same distribution. Did it take much longer or did you have problems connecting to peers? If so you are limited by your ISP. Be aware that this might be true for only one type of P2P network, while others are uneffected. For games check your Ping times against ping times done manual against a known server, for example Google. If they are close all is good, if the game ping is much higher (often in the thausands compared to around 300ms max) you are sucked into limitations. Ok, I am fairly sure I am limited by my ISP, is there anything I can do? If you mainly use the internet for illegal downloads you might want to consider going the legal way. For all others, check below. Main reasons for limits put on your account or connection are congestion (nothing you can do about except trying the ISP that owns your phone network and to pay more - and of course the amount of connections you make. Let me give you an example: Downloading a huge file from a server usually needs a single connection on port80. Doing the same using P2P services requires a lot of simultanious connections to many servers/PC's around the world. Only with enough, fast connections your download will progress at good speeds. You ISP can see the number of connections and cut them at a limit or completely disable the protocol used for the download. The result is crawling speeds for the download and you only see a few peers available. Multiplayer games often use several ports for the traffic, game status, chat, graphic updates like location of other players and so on. So if you play in a world with 8 of your friends and fight against 200 online players all these infos has to get to your system. Having a few kids all enjoying different online sessions at the same time certainly does not help either. ;) Unless you are permanently limited there are a few options to make things better: 1. Limit yourself to the off-peak times for big downloads. 2. Try to avoid multiple game sessions and downloads from a single internet connection, e.g: let the kids play with one console at a time. 3. Change the ports used by your program, sometimes the standard ports are used by everyone else around, changing them gives the ISP the option to spread the load. 4. Last and best option: Limit the amount of allowed connections. For games this is not always possible but for other services it is. Imagine your P2P program using 300 download sources at the same time. Every one has the actual data and a lot of other informations to transmit while your system has to send the receiving info to every single one. On top of all that you have the informations needed to find new peers, coordinate the parts and so on. You can limit those in the settings of the program. So instead of allowing 500 or more connections at the same time go down to 100 or less. Instead of allowing 100 half open connections (used to negotiate the download for a new peer) go down to 20. And of course limiting your own upload and the connections used for it does help a lot. Myths and alternatives.... You might have heard the things like "protocol obfuscation", "port hoppers" and similar exist, same for the "Tor" network and maybe even the "usenet". The myth behind all of them is the claim that oyur ISP won't actually see what you do and what your download. On top of that you have so called "VPN' services. Although some of the services will help you to overcome certain limits it does not change the fact that you ISP still can see your up- download volume and the number of connections in use. And trust me, they are not dumb either, so they will know anyway that you mostly use the internet for illegal downloads. After all, what reasons could you have to use encrypted services or to direct your traffic over VPN networks? Of course being in China or similar countries is a different story due to gouvernment restictions on the internet. As long as you do direct download with only a hand full of connections you should be fine, for everything else it comes down to luck. Protocol obfuscation worked for a few months until ISP's fixed it. The usenet might be an alternative but not for everyone. Even the famous Tor network or dedicated VPN services won't help you once your ISP got you flagged. The will simply limit everything besides standard protocols and ports, so you can use you Email and surf the net, even download directly for a server but everything else might be crippled. As I said earlier there is no way for the user to truely check what limits he has or what ports and protocols might be affected - you ISP won't tell you either. Before you get trapped into a new contract because your ISP is no good turn off all P2P and gaming for a day or two. Try again at night times after a reset of your modem/router. Quite often you will see it works just fine for a while. If so you can limit yourself, use off-peak times and so on. Sometimes it also helps to simply limit the download speed itself. Of course the best alternative is not to use illegal downloads and to seek local content for game servers or online video.
