As you can see we've launched a new home page + new headers and footers! Please poke around, as the dust is still settling, please submit any bugs to the bugs forum. We will be doing bugfixes as we find things to fix. We hope you like the new layout! Gregg Horton Instructables.com

Is there going to be a blog post documenting the new features? I like the new interface, but it will take a few days to get used to. There are a few bugs here and there. Like when I click Tool Tips Group, I get to a page where there are no projects. Also, post counts seem to be a little out of whack. Each visit seems to raise it by 10.

It's so easy to get into a rut and sometimes it's necessary to shake yourself out of it. So I'd like to issue a challenge to everyone to Make Something New. So here's what I'm proposing. You have until Sept. 21 to make something new for you and document it with a slideshow, video, or Instructable here on Instructables. Show what you've made and provide an explanation of how it's new for you. Reward: An achievement patch. So what is "new"? Anything you make right now will be new, but "new" here is talking about the experience of making the item. You can do something that's been done before by others, but the goal is to stretch yourself in a new direction. I don't know what everyone has done before so we'll be relying on the honor system, but I'd like you to push yourself. If you're always sewing clothes and are simply trying a new pattern that may be a little new to you, but it's not much of a stretch because you're using the same materials, tools, and skills that you already know. But if you've never done any metalwork and were to weld together a bike frame that would be very new.In your explanation of how your entry is new, be sure to talk about those things. What new materials, tools, skills, or designs are you using that you've never used before? How different is this from what you usually make?OK, to sum it up: - Make something new - Document it and post it on Instructables by 9/21 - Post a new comment here with a link to your post

I've been working on a colaboration, and I've noticed that there's only a "Collaborate" option on the old editor. WTF is up with that?

We've been loving the entries that are coming in for the current contests, but we must always look to the future and that means that next week there will be two new contests! We're pretty excited about both and we're sure you'll enjoy them.More details soon.

On Wednesday, a new contest will be starting up. It's an LED contest and the only rule is that the Instructable involves LEDs. Awesome prizes with LEDs in them to be announced later. So start thinking of cool projects right now since we love to see LED projects and this one is open to international entries.

What is going on with the new format for the different pages? All I can find is featured "ibles" with large pictures, wheres the zeitgist, recent, popular etc that used to be on the main page of each section (ride, outdoors, offbeat, green, life, etc etc?) Am I overlooking something? Is it just MY computer?

The system will not allow me to start an instructable. On page https://www.instructables.com/about/submit.jsp, when the Submit New Instructable button is pressed. Firefox comes up with: The page isn't redirecting properly. Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete. Anybody able to help?

I've been a using the new editor, and I think it's a big improvement over the old one. Is there a way I can use it by default? Yes I know it is but one click from the old editor, but by nature I'm a very energy consumption conscious person (aka lazy), and I'd prefer not to expend that 0.25 food calorie on clicking the "try New Editor" button. So how can I reduce global warming and use it by default?

I've made a couple instructables, but I can't seem to start a new one. I swore there was a giant button on the 'Instructables' tab of my account, but it seems to have disappeared. I feel as though there's something glaringly obvious that I'm missing. Any thoughts?

I, being a freak who reads every new instructable, don't like the new layout. I used to hit "ALL", then sort by "RECENT" so I could see all the new stuff for the day... Now when I hit "ALL" it just stays on the home page, and there is no "RECENT" section. I am not about to go through every tab "All, Art, Craft, etc etc" and scroll to the bottom to find the "RECENT" header for each and every page. Thats a lot more work than many are willing to do. Really, folks, I would love to have the old functionality back. Is there a way to view it the old way?

I posted a new forum topic in Burning Questions which did not appear. After a few days I figured that maybe I had posted in the wrong section so I reposted in Science, Tech, and Wanted. Non of which are appearing. I deleted the post under Burning Questions, but the rest are not appearing. Any thoughts?

Hi, just wanted to introduce myself. I've been looking at this site for a long time but never posted anything or wrote an instructable, but my last email from them had the 1929 contest in it, so I thought that sounded fun. I wrote my first instructable a couple of days ago for that contest, it's published in 'home' and 'life'. 20 Easy Ways to Save; I hope you like it. diygirl

There is a new K'nexer on the site named tylerbuilds, and he has posted two 'Ibles, but hasn't gotten many views or comments. So far I've been the main one to talk to him. His creations are pretty good, and he shows some promise. If you could wiuld you please go to his page and check out his stuff and drop a comment or two? Also, you could give him some nice constructive tips about K'nexing. Just welcome him to the community! :) He uses the Instructables app, so he cannot directly reply to you, so please keep checking if you have time. Thanks! -Nerfrock'

Ok so i wrote a quite long step, works fine. i went to add a picture so i dragged one to the drop area. chrome decided to open the picture instead of adding it, not that big of a problem. upon reloading the page i see that the auto save rubbish deleted all my text and auto saved the step that i had been working on for a hour. please just bring back the old editor.

At the suggestion of whatsisface, I decided to make a blog on Blogspot. If you want to see me kick butt when writing, you can look at it all here: rul3roftheuniv3rs3.blogspot.com/ I will update it regularly. You can look forward to finding new material once a week or so. WARNING: This blog does contain explicit language. Expect PG13 material at most. EDIT: If you want to post an article on my site, PM the contents of it to me, and if I approve of it, I will post it and give you 100% credit.

This is in case it doesn't show up on the Recent list, as it has been getting stuck a bit. The premise for this Instructable is that when certain "things" get broken apart, they spark. I focus on one main "thing", WintOGreen LifeSavers. I hope y'all enjoy it, and if anyone have any questions or corrections, you can post them here or on the Instructable. Thank you, and good luck to all others who entered the Science Fair Contest.Instructable
