realistic firing mechanisms.

Has anyone developed a detachable magazine with internal follower mated to a weapon which isolates the cocking and chambering of a round? i.e. the weapon is automatically chambered when the ram rod is cocked.

realistic model water?

I have a model PT boat 109 ( in 1/72 scale) and the propellers are broken. I figure the best way to do this is to just throw the boat in a diorama scene, so it is at the waterline. Can anyone help, because I have no idea how to do the water, and i was wondering if there was any realistic water things that I can make at home, or buy for pretty cheap.

Almost Realistic Major Wound FX for Under $0.50US

Just a bit of a survey. Would an I'ble on this be worth it? Or should I, work on the technique some more. My aim is to create semi-realistic wounds for minimal cost, that can be applied as this was 20mins before kids turned up. Turned out after the first boy, the wound was just too scary for under 16's. I had to cover it up, until later at night when the hoodlems came out. This was last Halloween, took 15mins and cost $0.50US all up... Is it good enough to deserve an I'ble? I know there are plenty, if not too many FX I'bles,  yet all seem to induce some significant cost and/or having to locate "not normal" products. Comments / critique welcomed, as I want to improve this moreso.

What is the most reputable, realistic way to sell photos.?

I am not a famous photogropher, but I do enjoy photography and have accumulated a pretty good collection of decent photographs over the years.  I've heard some hype about online stock photo selling, but the majority of it has that 'get rich quick' scam type feel to it.  I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with selling thier photos and would be willing to give me a bit of advice.  Thanks :-)

I need a cheap, realistic, non firing gun prop for a movie...

Me and my friends are making a movie. I want to make or buy a pistol which looks a lot like a beretta M9 for very cheap. I'd rather not make it out of cardboard, those guns take a lot of skill to make it look remotely realistic. And I don't have access to wood.    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How do I realistically match sprite animations to a video? Answered

I've embedded an example, below. Here are some cool effects I notice:the animations are matched with the shaking camera shots, frame-by-frame.some shots have the animations changing in focus to match the camera shotssome shots mask the animations to make them look like they're moving behind things in the video So, how is this done? What software tools are used? What are the different effects called?

How do you modify a thunder strobe to make it realistic?

I have  a Cannon Thunder Strobe w/sound effects.  I would like to make it act more like a real thunder/lightening storm.  The flash from the strobe and then the roll of thunder.  Right now, out of the box, it just flashes normally and the effect plays.  It does not look like a real lightening flash with thunder.  It needs to have a major pause between lightening flashes so the thunder can roll, then silence and darkness.  I have seen it done in Halloween Spirit stores, but the employees did not know how it was done.  It was fixed up by someone else.Any help will be appreciated.Jeff

Any ideas on making a fairly realistic Jason mask (Friday the 13th)??

I'm looking to make a realistic, fairly inexpensive Jason (Friday the 13th, hockey mask, machete-wielding badass) mask for my Halloween costume and I need some help. The only affordable masks I'm finding are flimsy plastic ones like the one on the photo below or foam masks that look like they're for a 5 year old. I've seen some pretty good fiberglass ones on ebay (like the one in the second picture I've included), but they run over a $100....and none of them are exactly what I want. So, I want to make one.... I'm thinking I can take one of the cheap plastic ones and alter it....I want to do more than just paint it though. I want to make the mask more rigid and appear more like resin or fiberglass than plastic. So, I need some sort of liquid or putty that looks something like resin to cover the mask in that will make the mask more rigid and still allow me to paint on it. and I'll probably drill some more holes to match the ones in the movie and put leather straps on it. any thoughts? anyone made a Jason mask before that could offer some advice?

Stunt dummy. Quite awsome.

I just wanted to show off the dummy that me and my little brother made last night, its quite realistic(for coardboard), we used wire coat hanger on some of the limbs to restrict their movability so that it acts more realistic, we then coverd the coardboard fram in news papers, and taped it all down. last we added some clothes, and threw him down the srairs. It was magical.EDIT: video is up!!! Youtube vidoe~Twisted

Does anyone know how to create a fairly realistic flame effect on a dress using fabric?

Hi everyone! :-) I want to go to a fancy dress party as a Fire Goddess, but I'm a little stuck on finding the best way to make a fairly realistic flame effect for my dress. I was thinking of starting with a black sheer mini-dress, then sewing various shades of two-tone organza on in small strips to look like dancing flames, to create a kind of 'flame vortex' effect. I know that's a really bad description, but hopefully this little picture I found might give you a better idea of what I mean: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_INmNOB9JiHw/SgMoA0oxU8I/AAAAAAAAAOY/PSNiC473-WQ/s1600-h/flame-dress-sketch-lo.jpg I have no idea whether there is a better way to do this, so any suggestions or ideas would be very welcome. :-) Thanks!

How to make a tree?

I just moved my office and now there is a pole in my cubicle. I've decided to turn this heinous and inglorious pole into a beautiful and realistic indoor tree. The pole is 6" in diameter (18" circumference), 9' high. I've ordered birch bark tubes to wrap around (http://www.barkcanoe.com/materials.htm) the pole. The trunk is set. Next up is to make branches for the top of the tree. Anyone have experience making branches and leaves look realistic? Where can I buy artificial leaves? Should I buy an artificial tree and cut off the leaves? Should I make the leaves myself? Thanks!?

Lightning lighting

OK I got one for you all! What I would like to achieve is a realistic lightning effect for Halloween displays. I've tried some different ideas, but none can give me a realistic effect. Most produce a timed effect (2 sec on, 2 secs off, 2 on, 2 off etc...) What I think I would need would be a circuit board or something like that, that would produce a random current to a strobe light source (ie. 1 sec on, 3 secs off, 2 on, 6 off, 1 on 5 off etc...) Could this be done? I've searched all over the internet and haven't been able to come up with anything. Thanks! Wes

new gun, 1BA-4E (DD-27 reborn as realistic looking rifle, with more power)

I wanted to make this ever since the DD-27 was made. this looks like a real hunting rifle,(thanks to adamsdead for the base design) and packs the punch of the DD-27. i'm pretty sure that this has some more power then the DD-27, but that has yet to be confirmed(i need to buy some more #64 rubberbands) pros: better design then the original DD-27 easier to use stronger firing pin(i have it shooting through card board with no tape!) light weight could hold up to a lot of abuse before breaking. a somewhat good piece distribution(a somewhat equal piece count for most pieces(except for yellow connectors) cons: BLOCK TRIGGER(for now anyway) the problem with the rifle setup here is that the barrel is way out in front of the handle instead of being right over the handle. the block trigger is to far away from the place were it should be, so for now it has a block trigger until i come up with true trigger mech for it it is for that reason that i will not be posting it just yet. pictures:(the second picture is of the sorted pieces from my pinball machine(note some of the pieces were taken out) (by the way, it is called 1BA-4E for a reason, and the first person to figure out why gets a cookie)
