How to make an LED heart Answered

Hello,
I am designing and making a prop for a music concert and would like some advice on the best way to go about it. The prop needs to be a glowing/lit heart that starts off on stage as a series of glowing rods. The artist then constructs the shape onstage and it becomes this glowing heart. I am thinking of using some sort of plastic tubing and LED lights, but Im not sure how to construct them so that they can:

- start of as individual rods then fitted together in a specific shape
- they need to turn on and off an be able to have the batteries replaced.
- must be bright red glow
- lightweight and low heat.

If anyone has some good ideas or advice on how to construct it I would be really grateful.
Thanks guys!

Its going to have to be reasonably dark for EL wire to be effective, but I'd go with EL too.

Have you looked at EL wire?

You could put lengths inside or around plastic tubing.
