Motorless Ball Machine Idea Answered

This is another one of those ideas I had for awhile hoping I could eventually use for myself but I don't think I'll ever get to a ball machine. K'nex is dieing hobby for me.
Anyways the concept is pretty simple. As long as you don't have any other motorized moving parts and all you need is a lift, this should work. What if you just made a simple rubber band powered sling? You could have 2+ balls running on the track. One hits the bottom and then stays right over the launcher. Another ball will pass over a trigger device that shoots the launcher and the the ball flings upwards.
Suppose it could work? The trigger device would be a little tricky but if you end up getting it to work, plenty more people could make ball machines if they don't have motors. Of course you'd be limited to the amount of bands you could place on the device but that's better than nothing.

Do you mean one sling for all launches? or multiple slings...?

Anyways I've thought about a motorless ball machine. But I would make it with a normal chain lift that would be driven by a *clock-like* mechanism with a large contra-weight.

Take a big weight, and use a catrol system.

A little change in height on the weight will result in a lot of change in height on the other end (depends on how much catrols you use).

 Yea but gears will be better for this solution, because you don't have a 100 meter long rope :P

 I think you forget one big draw back, you would need to pull back the part every time a new ball came.

Did you fully comprehend my idea? Yes, you'd need to reset it once in awhile but the idea was to make it like a repeating RBG so it would would work several times in succession.

 sorry, looking back at the topic, I accidentally skipped over the word sling ;-) I thought you were just making a gun type thing to launch the balls, using a ram that you would have to pull back every time.

Suppose it's possible then? Think you could give it a try?

 It's definitely in the realm of possibility. the only problem i foresee is the rubber band just slipping around the ball. 

Hmm maybe an elevator like thing then? The rubber band could slip off at the top and then it would drop back down. Or it could be like a chain lift powered by flung rubber bands.

 Ya, that could work. if you make a little path for the rubbberband to slide into until it gets to the top and then the rubberband slips off. the only problem i see is that while the lift is up, the balls at the bottom would leak out. We would need some type of system for that. Probably some type of lever arm that lifts up when the lift shoots up, and then get pulled win the lift falls.

I might make a prototype tomorrow if I find time.

Well I was just assuming that the other balls would still be occupied on their paths while all this is going on. But whatever works. Good luck.
