I have successfully inverted them but how do I make them look better they are OLD pictures from kodak safety film so there isn't going to be an extremely good quality anyway but I have paint shop pro and several other programs,I just dont know exactly what I should do.

A negative scanner is your best bet, but you can try it with a normal scanner...i've done it before. Set the resolution of your scanner to the highest possible resolution (or DPI) and scan it...then you'll need to crop each photo and invert it.

Adjust the levels. Look it up on the internet. Basically, you want the darkest parts of the image black, and the lightest parts white. Also, turn off all automatic sharpening and other things from your scanner software. You want to adjust in a controlled manner, picture by picture. Hope that helps.

You need a specialized negative scanner to scan film negatives. You might get a basic image of the negative with a regular scanner, but to get a digital image that even comes close to the quality of the original photograph, you need a negative scanner. You can get one for under $100 on eBay.

Once you have the images I suggest you use gimp to invert them and then to further edit them. Good Luck
