Audio?

OK so i just thought of something, but I don't know if it can be done. Ive googled and such, but i was unsuccessful. Is it possible to take an audio frequency and create electricity? Similar to a solar panel, but the instead of taking light, i take sound. Ive seen on instructables those LED candles that play a song. You can hear it with a solar panel and an amplifier. I want to know how to do the reverse. Could I take a sound, and power something with it. it would have to have SOME power to begin with, i would assume. maybe a charged capacitor? maybe i would take a microphone and somehow convert it into power (not data) I don't know how to do this. Does audio have positive and negative leads when connected to a circuit? this is really cool. I could charge my cell phone by talking on it! I could scream at my light bulb for being turned off (due to know power) and watch it light! _could anyone please either post an instructable (and let me know), post a detailed explanation on how to do this, or post a link to said detailed explanationThanks!

Audio

Looking for some help with an audio issue in a museum kiosk. I have a small 10 watt stereo amplifier running a single 8 ohm speaker. My audio source file is in mono and need to keep the single speaker. Using shielded stereo audio cables. There is a faint amount of static coming from the speaker. Is there a way to reduce this noise/static?

Audio

I've got a 2 channel color organ with an electret mic for input. I'd like to be able to remove the mic and run it directly from one side of a stereo output from a cd player. I know I need to have something there to replace the mic, but I'm an audioidiot. Thanks. BTW, this is for a puking skeleton for Halloween. The color organ will drive the pump, while the audio will be, well, the audio.

audio work

Hi, I am working on a project where I need to recess a XLR jack.  Currently, I am looking for a recessed box that can hold one or two XLR jacks.  It seems as though any box I have found so far is rather pricey, and I am working on a fairly low budget.  Does anyone have a place where a small recessed box can be purchased for a good price?  I am hoping under $25.  Your help is greatly appreciated.

audio amplifier

HI, i have a bunch of transistors that i took out of an old cd stereo. I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out how to make an audio amp using one or two of them. I am really new to electronics and I haven't had much luck figuring it out on my own. The transistors I have are like little rectangles with a hole on top the kind that usually has a heat sink. some of the numbers on them are: B1344, B1342, k3053, D2012, i also have alot of capacitors ranging from .47 to 3300uf  these are 50 v and 30 v. I've tried other audio amp plans but im having trouble learning to read the schematics. Any help is appreciated ill make an instructable if i can figure it out.

Car Audio? Answered

First off, this is a question about speakers sound quality loudness and all that stuff, it doesn't really have to do with any math or equations, just experience.  So I want some sub woofers, and after looking around I have determined that there are cheap ones, and very expensive ones.  Now, if I get a fairly affordable 15" (med quality) will it be louder/better than a 12" one that costs $900

Audio chip? Answered

I want to make a device to play a sound when a PIR sensor detects motion, but I don't know about the audio chip. I can't seem to find a chip that allows you to program a sound clip to it, then output it when it is given a signal. The closest I found was a cheap sound recorder module from china, but it contains all the external components (mic, batteries, speaker, switches) and so it acts just as a voice recorder. I need an individual chip that will do something similar. I may use the module as a prototype, but I eventually intend to mass produce the circuit, so that is why I am looking for an alternative. It only needs to hold about 5 seconds worth of audio, medium quality.

Audio - headphones

My daughter runs a Pre-school and uses a small cd stereo setup. The output is a pair of mono jacks (R/L) for speakers. I am looking to build a distribution box for up to 6 headphones. Thinking of one input (from the speaker jacks using a 2 to 1 plug) The headphones are mono 1/4 so those jacks are readily available. I do not know what the output is of the stereo system is but I doubt it is much over 5 watts (if that). Will I need some sort of amplifier? any thoughts on switches/switching jacks if not all are being used. Thanks for listening. guitar 52

Converting audio ouput to audio input for phone

Hello,so i did this project of a spy mic using the lm386 amplifier, i took the schematic from afrotechmods, and it works. what i wanted to do was modify this circuit in such a way that instead of letting us listen to the voices of that time, i wanted to make it work on a phone, using the 3.5mm jack, so i could record the audio in my phone, the original circuit diagram is attached. i also added my modified diagram. i just want to know if it will work, and i wont end up damaging my phone. what should i do to make this work right? the ''speakers'' in the original diagram are just earphones, no high power speakers. any help will be appreciated, thanks

Car Audio Kludge

I recently bought a used car. It has a radio, but no faceplate. While I could probably find a replacement faceplate or even install a new radio myself. I want to see if I might be able to DIY my own stereo out of the bits of my radio I do have and maybe an MP3 player or something. I figure the amplifier and power systems are all hanging out in the box there. So all thats actually missing is the part that acutally makes the audio to send to the amp. Anyone out there know enough about car stereo to confirm/deny my thoughts on this and maybe provide some advice?

Video and audio ads

We typically only allow ads to contain audio if the audio is user-initiated. Within the last hour, I noticed ads from Woolite, AirWick, and Lime Away with audio that started as soon as the ad loaded. I apologize for these, they should not be on the site. They are coming through one of our indirect ad networks, and I think I have stopped them (though it might take half an hour from now until the change takes effect). However, if you see any more, please let me know. If you ever see ads that don't fit with our values, make a note of the URL they link to, and where they are coming from by looking for an "Ads by Google" or by looking at this Instructable to see which network is serving them:https://www.instructables.com/id/Instructables_Ad_Networks/

Simple audio amplifier?

Alrighty, I'm a n00b to this world but I'm really into it. I just bought a simple amplifier kit and put it together. It is a stereo amp but I am only getting output to one speaker. The only problem I can think of is how i rigged up the inputs. I took a 3.5mm jack and combined the ground from the left and right channels. Can you not do that? How do I fix this without running two individual mono channels? Thanks in advance!

Audio Triggered by Light

Hello, I'm an absolute beginner and I would appreciate some help. I need to build a sensor that triggers sound either on Pro Tools/Logic Pro/Garage Band or any other kind of audio software when it detects a single red flash of light on it, much like the light a laser pointer would produce. The light will flash from left to right in intervals of 2.5 or 5 seconds apart. The sound is nothing too complicated. It's basically just single notes, pitched a fifth apart so for example, when the left light flashes, it needs to trigger middle C, then when the right light flashes, it needs to trigger G above middle C. Problem is, I do not know how to go about this and where to start. I would be deeply appreciative if someone could help me out here and point me in the right direction. Thank you!

car audio installation

So I have recently purchased an 8 inch subwoofer from a garage sale, wich was already mounted in the box. It has 2 inputs, a red and a black. I currently have it hooked up in replacement of the stock passenger side rear speaker in my 1999 ford ranger XLT, and it works well, but is not very loud. My question is 2-fold. 1: how would I go about wireing the speaker so that it could be used in addition to both the stock rear speakers without decreasing sound quality or volume, and 2: How could I increase the volume of just the subwoofer without affecting the other speakers? I have heard that there are "bass amplifiers" that i could hook in line but have not seen where I could purchase/ build one. Schematics and links would be very helpfull! Thanks, Iloveairsoftstuff

I was going to build Amplifier with Gain = 20 Minimum Parts From this datasheet But I have no Idea how to put the signal on. I think that the signal is Vin (pin 3)  but that is one cable when a headphone has three cables. I know the red wire is right and the blue is left and the other is comm so I onley need 2. Because there is one input I need to make it one cable. Would this work (I will test what resistor I need with a voltmeter later). If I am wrong about there olny being one input can someone explane to me how to wire it.

Sennheiser audio question?

So I've owned a pair of Sennheiser HD555's for about 4 years now and while they haven't broken in any way, I'm looking to buy another pair of Sennheisers that are more portable than the HD555's (10 ft. cable and bulky 1/4 inch jack + open design -_-)   I've been considering 2 choices in the Sennheiser 400 series.  The HD439's and the HD449's While I know they are both very similar, there are big differences in my opinion.   HD 439's: I really like the detachable cable on these, and I've always been in love with the cloth ear pads from my 555's, so i know these would be super comfortable.  Also these present a bit more bass than the others in the 400 series, which i don't know if I'll enjoy, because I really only have the HD 555's to compare audio quality to. HD449's: These headphones are apparently a bit more powerful than the 439's because of stronger magnets in their monitors, which is a plus because I mostly listen to music on my laptop, phone, or zune (YES I SAID IT AND I SAID IT PROUD--ZUNE).  Also I'v e heard that they have a better range of sound quality not just regarding the bass and treble.  The one thing that scares me to death about these cans is the pleather or "leatherette" material for the ear pads.  While i know that these are better at blocking outside noise, I can't help but feel like they'd be very uncomfortable.  The only other cans i've used with the pleather are the Bose AE2's, so one question is how do they compare? also to beats leather pads? In general, I listen to a broad range of music from classical to rap to indie rock.  Pretty much anything but country.  I like to have a bit more bass and high tones than mid, but not too much.  For this reason, I think the HD439's would be better in regards to sound quality and better design/comfort.  The only thing that keeps me looking back at the 449's is the offer of more powerful magnets and better sound when playing from a mobile device or something with a low power output.  I also really like the fact that even if i do like lows and highs better, I can always put an equalizer on the HD'449's to tailor their more balanced sound to my wants.  But I'm still afraid of the comfort the 449's offer compared to the cloth pads of the 439's.   Again I own a pair of Sennheiser HD55's and love their sound quality and comfort.  I also own a pair of AKG K181DJ series, but those are mostly for listening to house, dubstep, and drub&bass.;  I've owned the Bose AE2 (second edition) and have used beats studio for a time.  These are really all of my reference points for sound quality and comfort. Anyways, I digress.  I'm very torn between the two and I've given all of the info I can.  Any suggestions/ratings/opinions would be greatly appreciated.
