Batch Beeps

Some kids at my school have created some sort of command prompt to where it plays beeps at different pitches to create almost what one would call music. I was quite amazed by this and was wondering if anyone else knew how to make these sounds? All I know is that command prompt is involved. Thanks :)

My Computer is Possessed. (Please help)

Today, upon waking up, I started my computer as usual. Unfortunately, it had a black screen with white letters, blah blah blah, a problem occurred and your computer shut down to save files. It gave me a few options like if the power went out, etc. click proceed as usual, or something like that. Anyway, once I got to my desktop, I hear this "BEEP" maybe more of a click. Anyway I figured that I was holding down to many keys at once, because that makes a specific sound. Nope. So I continue doing my routine, login to AIM, start Firefox, load iTunes. Then I hear it again. I don't notice it much until it happens the third time. Thats when I decide to count intervals between beeps. Roughly 35-36 seconds between beeps. Every. Time. O_o I figure, since my speakers are on, I'll turn them off. Nope. Nothing. Still the dreaded beep. I've found that its coming from my computer tower.. Sooooo, I'm asking the community for some help, anything I can do to stop this beep? Its a really aggressive sounding thing. Almost angry..

beep-beep-beep-beep

Hello all... I am new to this website and I am wondering if any of you can help me out. A buddy of mine is trying to replicate this little gadget that he had purchased some time ago. Since that time, the creator of this little device, has passed away. Therefore, my buddy is unable to purchase anymore of the device. So, I am trying to see how difficult it would be to build it from scratch. It seems to be fairly simple as it only has one function. The device is small enough to fit in a pocket and has a button on the exterior side. When the button is pressed, the device emits a series of short beeps four times. There is about a one second pause between each set of beeps. The beeps sound similar to that of a digital watch alarm or when you leave your car door open with the key in the ignition. Here is the pattern of the beeps... 1. beep-beep-beep-beep - 1 sec. pause 2. beep-beep-beep-beep - 1 sec. pause 3. beep-beep-beep-beep - 1 sec. pause 4. beep-beep-beep-beep I have attached a few images of the device and I am hoping anybody with knowledge, experience, or ideas of an alternate way of replicating this device and it's function will reply ASAP... The beeping will need to be loud enough for other people to hear it when the button is pushed inside a pocket. Thanks in advance for any help or ideas...

Remotely controller beeping device

I'm a real Noob to this electronics thing (but I find it fascinating..). Anyway, I want to try to build a device that beeps. The duration  of the beep is fixed, but the frequency and pitch should be variable, depending on user input. The whole device should be as small as possible and water proof. I would prefer to be able to control the beep frequency and pitch remotely - perhaps from a mobile phone or from something like a remote controller. The beeping unit should be kept simple as possible. Any ideas on how I can achieve this? Thanks, Yossi

Small beeping device activated by a button?

I don't want it to be too loud, just at  audible levels with a quick beep.  Preferably not larger than 1.5 inches.  Thank you geniuses.

What would you need to create a small device that would recognize a beep and play a random sound consequently? Answered

The random sound played would be a selection of a short mp3 sound out of 3 preset sounds.

Small hourly beep charm

I want to make a very small charm that will play a short beep sequence alarm every hour. It does not need a stop button for the alarm, just beep a few times then be silent for another hour. I'm thinking attiny, speaker, battery. Or something along those lines. Or is this simpler with a 555 (I've never used one before)? I have used attiny for lights, but never anything with sound. Can anybody point me in the right direction for code and also a good place to buy tiny inexpensive speakers? Thanks so much!

Bios speaker randomly beeping? Answered

I finished building my computer a while ago, but initially removed the BIOS speaker as it kept beeping. Not a full alarm like if it were overheating, just a pathetic little "bip" every 10 minutes or so. The speaker is connected properly and it is the one that came with the board, and it makes a proper beep when I turn the computer on. I have disabled the CPU fan warning as I had it connected to my fan controller instead, and I also have thermal sensors on everything and everything runs nice and cool, so I honestly can't figure out what the problem is. I thought it may have been my dying hard drive, but I have replaced it now with a brand new hitachi 500gb sata-II drive that runs smoothly and I still get the problem (it just went off again whilst tying this). Any idea on what could be causing this problem and how to fix it (without removing the speaker). I have also tried it on Ubuntu and Windows, and I get the same problem, not that it should matter.

Strange Planet Part Two

Following along in the last post about the wild world of water, let's see what other natural oddities our Earth has for us. There's a strange sound coming from the ocean, they're calling it a "Bloop." The earth is known for whistling caves, and plopping mud puddles, thunder and earth quakes, so we know the earth is one vocal creature. But the bloop is new, and as of yet unknown. This is what we know: "Although the sound matches the profile of a living animal, it is much louder than any known creature can produce. Any creature that could produce such a sound would have to be many times larger than the largest whale."The story is here. What do you think it is?_BG\\via neatorama\\

Advice for a buzzer element

Hello I am developing a small device which requires  a sound alarming. The idea of the device is to be attached to your phone for example and if you wonder where your phone is, the device will turn on the sound alarming in order to give you information for its location. So, I am searching for a buzzer element which: - consumes up to 3.6 V; - is small (diameter up to 20 - 25 mm) and thin of course; I decided to use a buzzer element similar to this one http://www.digikey.co.uk/product-detail/en/CEB-20D64/102-1126-ND/412385 but I am not sure if it will do the job. I am concerned about something else, I have a buzzer at home which produces sound of high frequency and when you close your eyes it is absolutely impossible to find out where the sound comes from. Can somebody help me, please? Thanks a lot!!!

How to generate a beep sound in a watch ? Answered

I'm working on an electronic design project : Smart Watch  this watch worn  by clients suffering  from early stages of Alzheimer disease  will play a role so that it guides the patient back to his/her house . We pre-defined a distance boundary that the client will not exceed (speedometer). I want to know if there is a device (sensor) that should be integrated in the watch  so that it generates or creates beep sound (or vibrations) once the client crossed or approaches the Limit distance boundary ( something similar to the beep sound in the car system when it approaches an obstacle ). And , if it is possible ,any ideas or hints on how to implement it on the watch ? Thank you in advance , and if you need more information please let me know :)

Different wait times in IC output.?

Hi, is it possible to make an output with different Wait Times? The numbers are the time in seconds. The HI would be the enough to make a buzzer beep, like half a second... I was thinking of 555 ICs, but I don't think it's even possible to do this with them. Do you suggest any IC that can do this? I just want a buzzer (or whatever) to beep like: Power On - 30sec - BEEP - 180sec - BEEP - 30sec - BEEP - 180sec - BEEP, etc Thanks.

Laptop question - is it dead? Answered

Roger-X's (Windows) laptop is playing up. When he powers it up, nothing happens on the screen at all - no messages, blinking cursors etc. You can hear the hard drive spinning up, and the computer makes a repetitive beeeeep, beep-beep, beeeeep, beep-beep, which continues until you kill the laptop by pressing and holding the power button. I did try hitting F1 as it powered up, and beeping stopped, but nothing else happened. Any ideas?

My computer keeps making annoying beepy noises.

And has been doing so for the past 6 months. I have been able to deal with it for this long, but it has finally gotten to me. The computer is a HP Pavilion dv7 running Windows 7 Home Premium. It is not coming from the speakers, I think it is coming from the circuit board. I am sure it isn't coming from the speakers because 1) When the headphones are plugged in, the sound still comes, but not from the headphones (all sound reroutes to the headphones when they are plugged in) and 2) The sound still comes when the volume is turned all the way down. Please help, it is SO annoying. Thanks!

How do I make a circuit that will flash and beep faster and faster?

To elaborate, I want to make a prop for a convention that looks and acts like a pipe bomb from Left 4 Dead. I was planning on making it out a piece of ~1-2 inch diameter PVC pipe about 6 or 8 inches long. The key is to be able to turn it on, have it beep and flash, and then throw it and have it beep and flash faster and faster until it either just turns off or, even better, makes an explosion sound. It need only run for 10 or 15 seconds at most. The prop in the game has external wiring and whatnot, but I can always add that cosmetically later. Thnaks for any tips.

I want to build a circuit that at the press of a button will emit a loud short beep (1khz would be good) and at exactly the same time a bulb would make a quick bright flash ( a camera flash would be ideal). I want to use this device to help me  synchronise my video camera picture with sound recorded on another device. In effect this circuit is a clapper board! Can anyone point me in the right direction, what components would I need? Many thanks.

My computer is playing up?

Hi, my sisters computer was running really slow. She rebooted it and upon reboot the computer made a high pitch beeping when loading files. It took about 45 minits to finally boot in still making the high pitch beep from the speakers the whole time. After everything loaded the computer slowed down and stopped beeping but came really un-responsive and was too slow to load anything. When booting into safe mode the computer still beeps and takes a long time to start up but runs well (loading some programs is still a issue) . System idle CPU usage jumps around randomly. Memory usage seems normal. I was thinking that it could be a issue with the OS but not sure.I haven't tried booting from another drive.
