How to colorize a black and white photocopy?

Hello. Years ago, Letraset had in catalogue a color film that you heated over a black and white photocopy and turned black in the color of the film (the film only was fixed to the toner). Does anybody know a way of getting the same result with cheap materials?

Color Conversion

So, I was recently playing my 3ds, when I figured out that the firmware I downloaded, "Luma", can take screenshots. However, there is one problem. The program which takes the screenshots assumes that the 3ds is using 22 bit colors, when it is actually using 16 bit colors So, the image's colors are quite distorted. This is a problem. However, this shouldn't be impossible to fix, right? If I'm correct, we should be able to do the correct conversion as long as it was saved in a lossless format. Are there any programs which do this?

Colored Fluorescent

Hi there, My first time posting here, but have been reading the website for a long time. Recently I have been fascinated with lights and light art. I have been a fan of Dan Flavin for awhile and love the way he uses fluorescent lights.  One question I have is, how do I achieve colored fluorescent lights? I have done a bit of research and a few people have suggested cellophane wrapped tubes, but I'm concerned that this might burn / melt, and may look slightly amateur?  Any help would be much appreciated. I have attached a couple of examples below. L

Bi-color LED's

Hey. I was looking for some small, or even surface mount, bi-color LEDs. I also, however, need a wide range of colors, as I am doing a Rubik's cube type thing. I was contemplating the idea of Tri-color LEDs, and having the 6 colors be RGBCMY, although that may over-complicate things. Thanks for your help :-)

Yesterday I was fooling around in Unity 3d (Video Game Development Software), and I created 13 particle systems, that show how red, green, and blue light, mix into white.  Every vertex is a basic RGB color. The colors shown are Black, Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, Cyan, Magenta and White. The colors parallel to each other mix. If you use Unity, and you want the Prefab, I have it for download.

Ribon cable colors

Hi all,   I just read the "Web controlled powerstrip" by rleddington. A great build and it brought something to mind; Most everybody knows the resistor color code. The rainbow ribbon cables follow that same code. A lot of folks are unaware of this. There are ten colors and if you have more than ten wires, the color pattern repeats. If you know resistor code, this makes it a lot less confusing when wiring up a lot of circuits. If you follow the pins number/color on one end, the other end goes real easy without having to look up or follow a chart you made.   Hope this helps! Thanks again for all the great projects.

7 Color LED Help

I have recently bought two 7 color blinking LED's from RadioShack and learned how to make them change colors and such. I have figured out that if you put a momentary push button switch (with 4 pins) onto the "switch" pin to ground you can get it to change to a solid color then to the cycling of all colors forever. I have two of them set up in parallel, they both start at the same time but slowly become out of sync. Can anyone recommend anything I can do to keep them in sync? I plan on putting these in my car someday as floor lights and it would be nice to have all the lights change color at the same time and not have to keep pressing the darn button over and over again to reset the LED. Any other tips regarding LED's would be appreciated. I am kind of a noob at this so please try and "dumb it down" so I can understand. I am only just grasping the basics of hobby electronics but am very eager to learn more. Actually, any tips in general that any hobby electronics enthusiast should know would be nice. Color changing LED faucet?

I'm looking to make one of those faucets that changes color with the temperature of the water coming out of it. I already have a preliminary circuit using a thermistor, an LM311 comparator and a couple LED's. Just wondering if anyone had any tips of how to refine or whatever. Also hitting a roadblock on how to power this, as I want to make it entirely analog (no microcontrollers, just op amps and the like) and I want it to be fitted to an actual faucet nozzle. If it is fitted to a nozzle, space is very limited and batteries are really not desired. I was thinking along the lines of a mini waterwheel or something that uses kinetic energy from the water.

Color changing stage lights?

I'd like to make a light that will accommodate 2 or three light bulbs/spotlights/floodlights so that one comes on, and ideally fades into the other. It would be used in haunted houses. I am pretty sure this is a simple build, but I'd appreciate direction or advice.  Or a full on Instructable. A simple setup with a switch (foot pedal?) that simply shuts off one color and turns on another would do.  A button that begins to fade one color out and another in would be better.  One that can be set to fade from one to another automatically at a predetermined interval would be awesome. Such a setup can be used to create a transformation effect as simple as Jekyll into Hyde or as elaborate as girl into gorilla. The reason I would prefer it to be automatic is so it can be "plug and play" with only one actor, and work even if it's a different actor each night. Probably something like this exists commercially, and A), I don't know what it is called B) I'm doing it for the Boy's and Girl's club, which has no budget, which means I'm paying for it, which means it needs to be as low cost as possible. C) If I can build it well and inexpensively, I'd like to play with variations on the theme.

Help with wood coloring/finishing!?

Hey guys, Im working on a mini project to make some wooden keychains/items... the wood i start with is just some home depot paint mixing planks (unlimited supply lol), i cut them down to the size of a dog tag, sand them down and my plan is to stamp letters onto it with my letter stamping kit, the kind that punches into the wood, and give it to friends for fun, the result from stamping is really good (once i get my alignment right), but the problem is im not sure what is the best way to color the letters, i tried a marker, lets just say it didnt work too well lol, and im not really sure what i should be doing since this is a bit new to me also, once i finish it i plan to seal it in some protective coating so it doesnt get wet and get messed up, the wood is pretty soft as is. Not sure what i should use here either Thanks for the help and if u got cooler ideas i want to hear them too lol

color code on a samsung LCD? Answered

I had this old laptop wich had a burned out motherboard, so i took it apart for parts. obviously, the LCD screen caught my eye. this thing has 1 connector, with  bout 40 pins. 5 wires are going to the inverter (i guess taht's it at least) and the rest goes to a circuitry on the back of the LCD. now, there are 15 wires (D-sub standard right?) going to the LCD, and i would love to know how to wire them, that is, what wire takes what voltage, data, or whatever it needs. btw, the connector to the circuitry has 20 pins, dunno what that means (multiple ground lines?) the only chip on the circuitry is labeled: LXD91810                                                           VS246AB note, the 6 could also be an 8, some genius used a permanent marker to write a 3 over it, wich makes i very hard to read... is there any site online that is about these kind of mods? i was looking but couldnt find any... i have included pictures of what i think is important, please ask if theyr either unclear, you need anything else or whatever :P any info is welcome and greatly apreciated!

Can I put Color-changing multi-color RGB LEDs in series??

I need to run a bunch of slow-changing multicolor off of 12vdc.  The LEDs are each rated 2.5-3.4V 20ma.  I'd like to keep efficiency up by reducing the number of series current-limiting resistors and the voltage across them.  So...  Can you put 3 multi-colored LEDs in series with a current limiting resistor (typ 150 ohms) to run off 12vdc... like you do with standard LEDs?  The datasheet specs a operating voltage range and 20ma current. Or...  Does the current draw (effective resistance) of the LED change as the colors change??... Example: When displaying purple, red & blue are both lit. But for red, only the 1 internal LED is lit. If the current changes and the different LEDs are out of time, it would change the voltage across the different LEDs and the series resistor. (I know you can't run an on-off flashing LED off a higher-than-spec'ed voltage because the current goes between almost 0ma and 20ma, putting nearly the full supply voltage across the LED when it is OFF.) So, can I put them in series successfully?? Also, how accurate is the color-changing timebase?   Will they quickly go out of sync.. assuming the same brand and lot.
