Ethernet cable

I have broadband. I'm trying to set up a second network. The first one has a modem and a router. My second network just has a router so far. Since I'm subscribing for the internet, can I make an ethernet to coax cable. What I want to do is take one end of an ethernet cable and one end of a coax cable and put together. Which wires do I put on? This is probably really confusing, but this is the best way I can describe it.

Ethernet to USB 3.0?

I was looking around this afternoon and found the wonderful 'PCI Express X16 to USB 3.0 adapter' which got me thinking, This could be an awesome way to add a better graphics card to a small computer e.g. a laptop or preferably a Raspberry Pi. Now i know that the Pi doesn't have any USB 3.0 ports but it does have Ethernet (which from past experience is quite a lot faster than USB 2.0) My question to you is this: Is it possible to get a USB 3.0 to Ethernet adapter so that we can have USB 3.0 ports on a Raspberry Pi, and if so would the Pi be fast enough to run an external graphics card connected through a PCI Express to USB 3.0 adapter?

Ethernet Wiring Order

Hi, I have a cat6 ethernet cable with 8 non-twisted wires all apparently being of different solid colors. Is it OK to attach both ends to the connectors in any order as long as both ends have the same color order? Since the colors are non-standard I can't go by any convention such as T-568A or T-568B. I am using this in my home and since it will be a one-off I don't care about convention standards as long as the configuration I use will work. By the way, do I need to be concerned about the fact that they are non-twisted wires? What's the difference anyway? I would appreciate your answer. Thanks.

Hilarious $500 ethernet cable

Denon, purveyors of audiophile equipment and home cinema kit, are selling a $500 1.5 metre cat-5 cable. That's not so much funny as disappointing. However, the Amazon reviews are utterly hilarious."Holding this cable in my hands actually makes me feel that much closer to the Lord Jesus...""So I shelled over the 1/2 grand and found out that I can SEE GOD when I play things now.. In addition I see the future and now know the stock market BEFORE it happens! ""Just 1 minute after pressing the button to order this, I had 7 phone calls from insanely hot women, and got 7 dates out of it. Coincidence? I think not. ""I couldn't believe a cable could make so much difference, so I connected a cable tester to it and saw that it rendered the 0s and 1s perfectly. I'm even getting some 2s and 3s!!!""Each one of these cables is blessed in the blood of a dead pope."There are, however, a refreshing number of people saying "I'll never buy anything from Denon ever again". I believe this product may be withdrawn shortly, if Denon have the tiniest bit of sense.

Hello, I'm trying to design a switch box to switch between 4 different ethernet sources and output to one cable. Arduino relay power over Ethernet cable?

Hi. I have an Arduino setup with 2 individual relay boards controlling two 240v power outlets. The relays are housed separately from the Arduino and I have connected the two via a standard ethernet cable. The relays I have are both 12v powered and switched via a 5v Arduino digital pin. I have currently wired the following. Orange and orange/white ---> 12v+ (from a 12v plug transformer) Blue and blue/white ---> GROUND (connected to both plug transformer and Arduino GROUND) Brown ---> Switched +5v from Arduino to relay 1. Brown/white ---> Switched +5v from Arduino to relay 2. SITUATION. One of these relays for some reason isn't working properly. The board is receiving the right power but the relay itself is not clicking/switching. Maybe sticky contacts. The whole thing is already wired and the unused cables of the network cable trimmed so I cannot use them.  MY QUESTION I have a spare single 5v powered relay board which I could replace the faulty 12v with, but with no wires left to connect it, could I pinch one from the orange pair that I am sending 12v through to the first relay and use that for the 5v to the replacement one? In a less round about summary... can I send 12v+ through a single strand of ethernet cable with a run of only about 30cm? Thanks, Steve.

How do I share 2 printers on a single ethernet jack that is hooked to an internal network?

Every office in my building has an ethernet jack. One room houses a HP laser printer that is currently utilizing the single jack. I'm putting a wide format color inkjet printer in the same room. I need to connect it to the internal network for others to share this printer as they do with the laser printer. There is a hub located in another part of the building that connects this intranet. To add my new printer is it a matter of plugging another hub into the existing jack and then plugging the two printers into the hub or is there another way? Thanks, Chas.

Ethernet controlled robotic digital camera enhanced telescope? Answered

I keep wondering about how cool it would be if 100s of amateurs trained their robotic telescopes, hooked to the web, on one part of the sky, via commands over the internet from some astronomer who's got a hunch or just spotted a new spot on Venus or whatever. Those 100s of telescopes then took a photo at the exact same instant(or nearly so)and the same spot and then send that photo over the web to some big iron or a BOINC like app that would then crunch all the photos together to get a better picture of that object without having to go to Hawaii or Chile to get a decent shot... instant big lens astronomy?!
