Hey everybody, I have a bunch of ICs lying around, about 50 of them, and I have no clue what any of them do. I've googled a few of them, without great results... What I'm wondering is: Does a website exist that has just a bunch of datasheets on ICs? AND, when I search for them, what item number do I use? Most have a 2 different strings, one with 5 characters and the other with more... Thanks!

My grandmother gave me a signet ring a week ago, and I was wondering if anyone could help me identify the coat of arms on the front of the ring. I don't know what metal it is made from, and there is no visible hallmark that I can see...

So I took apart a remote control for a cheap helicopter. There is a 14 pin microcontroller on board. Unfortunately it looks like any other 14 pin IC out there and there are no markings on it. Is there anyway to identify possibilities. For example if I mapped where each pin goes on the PCB. Luke pin one goes to the LED's, pin 2 goes to the joystick, etc. Is there any way to "read" the chip to figure out what it might be?

Hey I just moved my JVC JX-S700 into my new media center, and now it wont power up. Opened it up, and the transformer doesn't seem to be putting off any voltage on the output. I have approximately 1 ohm between the 3 outputs. So I thought that was likely to be the issue, is there anything I should do to make sure that's the problem spot? Is there another fix for this besides replacing the transformer? And if I have to replace the transformer, can anyone help me identify it? Thanks Crew!

Obviously I am new here if I posted in the wrong place please tell me where to post. Is this a Farm implement, tool, heater. It is about 25" tall, with a 10" diameter. There is a closed bottom why it is raised off the ground i don't know. Rust area is from prior heat damage to the galvanized metal. It is too early to be a charcoal brick starter. I know it is not a chicken feeder. All answers will be appreciated.

Hey! im trying to get myself more into electronics... and im starting to repair an old electric organ (i dont care if its not really worth repairing, im happy to do it for the sake of it) but i came across some big scary things! lol... i think they are mica capacitors, they are definately the right size and shape... but the whole thing is coloured with horizontal stripes (some sort of colour coding) but i can find no reference to this anywhere! please help me! if anyone wants i can sort out a photo for you ;) cheers

Hi all. A few weeks ago I was visiting my cousin and we ended up going through a tool box full of things left to him by his father we came across two that we were at a loss to identify. The first is a brass cylindrical container about five inches long by 3/4" diameter with what I can only describe as a gouge attached to the inside of the screw down cap, it is blunt and shows no signs of ever having been sharpened so I'm fairly sure it wasn't meant for cutting. The second has a few clues of it's own with a manufacturer name and a part registration number, it also has what looks very much to me like a small cutting wheel similar to the kind you would find on a glass cutter, the small section with the words "British Made The Ideal" slides along the slot it sits in and the tip at that end is a sharp point. Any ideas folks? Thanks in advance. NG.

Hi ! Into a terrain near a very old volcano and a river, my brother found fragments of obsidian of various sizes and colors. Some of them are "glued" to metallic stones, and some others contain marbles of metals ... He also found a heavy metallic rocks (encrusted with obsidian) who reacts with magnet, and an other light one (without obsidian) who does not react with magnet. Do you know a mean to identify those metals ? (I Googled but found nothing very useful so far) Or do you have a clue of what it could be ? #1 is a metallic rock encrusted with obsidian. It must be iron because it's heavy, the rust is red, and it reacts to magnet. #2 and #3 is obsidian with marble of metal who reacts to magnet. #4 is an unknown (metallic ?) rock. It is light (150 grams for 200 cm3 - 0.33 pounds for 12 cubic inches), of the color of silicon (or the graphite of paper pen !), does not react to magnet but is (electric) conductor with resistance near 0 ohm.

Recieved this item as a challenge to figure out what it is. The drill bit in the picture comes out of the end of the tool and the tool itself has three adjustable jaws that are sharp at one end. The only other interesting marking is the drill bit has a hole drilled in the end of it.

Hello I got this transformer from an old ups, there are four wires on the primary side black, blue, green , yellow and two on the secondary red and blue. This transformer used to charge 12v 7.5ah battery also converts it back to 220V in backup mode. Tried testing its output and got this (Mains 220V) Black to ground Blue to mains-> 7.9v on secondary Green->5.5v Yellow->6.5v Connecting Blue and Green to mains and it was a shot circuit and blown my fuse. I want to use this for making a decent power supply 12v+ output, is this possible? I also saw this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mc4GZM-kFUY&hd;=1 The guy is using his ups transformer for generating hv to power cfl using tip122, i am not sure how to do this using my transformer. I need to make use of this transformer somehow, otherwise its just eating dust at my home.

OK so, tonight I was getting out of the shower when I saw what looked like a little bit of red string dangling in the air. I inspected closer and found out it was some kind of spider! It kinda just dangled there on what seemed like one thread of web from the ceiling about 1-2 feet from the floor. After blowing on it to conjure some sort of reaction, nothing happened. It just slowly swung without moving. So seeing as it was dead, I grabbed the stand of web a small distance ahead of it and dropped it into the sink. As soon as it touched the sink, it sprang to life being the sissy I am I filled the sink with water and let it be sucked into its watery grave. Here's my description, I'll post pics tomorrow. It was a deep red color, I'd say almost burgundy. I found it in my bathroom in Phoenix, Arizona As for it's size, I'd say it was relatively small, maybe the size of a nickel at the largest. Remembering back from learning about insects in fourth grade, because it was a reddish color I deducted it could be venomous, but I doubt it.

Could anyone tell me what the red electronic component might be?

Can anyone identify this tool and what it is used for? It belonged to a relative that recently passed away and I have no idea what it is. It is made from what appears to be heavy brass. The center "barrel" section is spring loaded and slides up to reveal what appears to be a sharp cutting back edge of the barb shaped tip. Anyone know? Thank you
