foot pedal controlled glue gun? Answered

I would like to have a glue gun mounted on a stand and controlled with a foot pedal so both hands are free. Any ideas on how to do this?

Usually they operate onmains power, so just make a small box that holds a switch, power socket for the glue gun and on top a rod that goes onto the switch.

If you want to go fancy replace the switch with a capacitve sensor and relay.

Thanks, Downunder35m, I appreciate your taking the time to respond, but I'm afraid my knowledge is not up to your suggestion. I don't have a clue what you are talking about. If I have instructions I can usually follow them and figure things out as I go, but this isn't quite enough for me to go on.

For those with deep pockets:

A mechanical carburetor actuator system would work as a model. You would have an accelerator pedal on the floor. Motion from the pedal would be transmitted via a mechanical cable. The motion would be received by a spring return trigger linkage, some cables have a spring built-in. The spring loading is important so that the trigger returns to zero so that you can continue to feed the glue stick. You would also need a glue gun stand.

The drawing gives you an idea of the model. However, as they say, the devil is in the detail.

Thank you for taking the time to send this link my way. This is kinda what I'm looking for but a little too rich for my pocket and much more sophisticated than I need. I'm a hobbyist and only use a glue gun occasionally. I was hoping someone had already made an instructable for this, but it doesn't look that way.

Thanks, again, Quadrifoglio.
