Hello pwtken1,You don't have print the begining of your mega sketch, and if there are some communication problems, I think it comes from the library you use and the running order of the instruction of your sketch. I made recently an instructables with a comparative matrix between various shields vs various boards. Have a look on the sketch between the mega board and the seeduino W5200. You must use the same modified-myself libraries I gave and I think it will work fine with the "mudbus" library (i never try to test others for the moment). Don' forget in the communication: the master (the PY here) read/write to the modbus registers (16 bits) of the slave (mega2560) with an offset of +1: mb9 of the slave is mb10 of the master. This error is comming I think from -a bad bootload of your atmega1284 (follow the method of boot i gave) -or try to upload with "USBasp" and "Download with a programmer". -or use Zadig to make USBasp working on arduino1.8.xFollow some of my instructables: it must do work.Best Regards. coz pin 22 is internally linked to the ground and not shown on PROTEUS.

Thanx for your support. It works to with SPI I/O port extension describe in one of my project to have more digital or analog I/O available. And soon a new project Arduino tomation II : applications of DIP 40 IC like atmegas 8535/32/16/644/1284.Happy instructable!!!

Hi smooth_jamie!Thanks for your support and bad news: you can't use Mightycore to bootload and program such a DIP40 IC. I think it's because of its pin map which is really so different and at first glance on the datasheet there is no SPI port to program it. May be you'll find an URL to reach this kind of IC I hope in the future. In my case, I try to find something to program a PIC1845K22 and I'm waiting for it... For the moment I do really good prototypes and automation applications with atmegas8535/32/644p/1284p and they are very cheap.Happy running instructables anyway!!!

Hi Absolutelyautomation, thanx for your interest in this project.About using a local HMI: Why not? But the protocol here must be under MODBUS TCP, I think I will try It later with some HMI like MAGELIS screen from Schneider (high cost) or KEP screen (low cost but a price to pay). Another solution is developped in my projects: using a touch tablet (low cost) with android and a special free app Unigo (running under MODBUS TCP). Hi RenéB2I'm working on YAKINDU for several days in order to implement a rising or falling edge effect on a button pushed on arduino uno. It works with simulation on YAKINDU but it doesn't work well on arduino. In my simple example with 2 states: I try to switch ON/ OFF a light with only a push button (a rising edge to switch ON followed with another rising edge on the same button to switch OFF and so on). It doesn't work even with any declaration like "in event button", "var button:integer", on entry/exit and so on...or with cycle time modifications. I don't know what to do.Did you manage to do this on arduino? It works well with the famous SM library and not this solution. Hello gada888,Thanks for your interest in such a small project. Every diagrams are drawn with VISIO 2007+SysML1.0 template (UML2 modified). Sometimes I use EDRAW 7.These softwares are not free but great to work with.Happy instructables!!

Hi RenéB2Thanks for your interest in State Machine programing and application. I tried the Eclipse plugin you gave me and it runs very well. For me it's a good way to draw state machines with (pseudo) multitasking and to run it. I don't try to put the code in an arduino but I think it will be easy. It's been a long time I'm looking for such a freeware. Another one I 'did not have time to test: Quantum Leap, but I don't think it allows you to run multitasks.Thanks and good instructable!!!!

Hello GerryGit!!Thanks for your support!Indeed, it's been very difficult to find SM.h lib for few month because of a conflict with the author Nilton61 and some people who decided to put the code on a repository without any author's agreement. What a pity for such a valuable and so usefull library. I hope I will not have troubles with the code put on my instructables...but you can find it on the net... somewhere.So I used the IDE 1.6.0 with SM lib v1.2 and it runs very well. There are perhaps sometimes bugs with Delay() vs state.Timeout but easy to correct them. Recently I worked on a fireworks control unit and a very complicated state machine (1 master and 2x3 slave multitasking machines): no problem, not so much line code, and a very easy to read program.Good instructables!!
