I am the original creator and have had supply problems so they are not on sale until the problem is solved.Rimstar.org reached out to me years ago to collaborate on his presentation. I am grateful for his video it has been a good source for solar cooker makers. I made the beast and the purple fig Instructables so anyone could make them for classes or personal use.Have a great time experimenting with your beast. Come visit some of the FB pages on solar cooking and share your beast if you want to.

This looks like a solar cooker to me! :) If you go out in the sun does it reflect to one point that gets hot?

This would make a great retained heat cooker. Just add an insulated lid and bottom made with tuna fish cans. Use a couple of soft pillows inside to sit the pan on and one for the lid. I admire your creativity. It could also serve as a very good keeper of cold food for a few hours. Search Wonder Bag.

Yes when I build the smaller Copenhagen or (Purple Fig as the instructable is called) I use a .03 sheet of poly propylene. The larger panels used in the Beast need a little support like a dowel in the center to keep rigid enough to cook well. However the paper version stays rigid on its own.

Hi! To get the good temperatures always use a dark pan with a glass cover. A cake pan and a random glass cover from another pan will do. As long as they fit together. The germs will be killed when the temperature reaches 150F. Enjoy the smores!

You can not cook or purify water with 108 degrees. The street on a hot day can read 120 degrees. Add some reflectors and check the angle of the sun touching the cooking pot. To check the angles you can use a square piece of paper and line one edge up with the angle the sun comes in and the 90 degree angle it bounces off the reflector to find the right angle for your reflectors.

If you make one please share it. I will do more testing for how large a pot and how much food could be cooked in it at one time. I have an 18 cup aluminum coffeepot and 2.5 gallon 19.5L aluminum 5 stacking pan set. I will paint them black and then test how much capacity and what heat they reach.
