Our main source of  energy right now is nuclear energy. Although Nuclear energy  might seem to be a reliable source of energy, it is not.  Nuclear energy is not a reliable source of energy  because you need to extract Uranium ore from the earth's core which might seem as a good  source of Uranium it is not. This is not a endless supply  of uranium because it will eventually  run out of uranium .   So what can we do to solve this issue? The answer is alternative energy.  Alternative energy  is energy that can be renewed  and that is reliable. One solution is replacing Uranium fuel rods in a reactors core with Tritium. Tritium can be used  as a substitute for uranium because it has the same properties as uranium except that it has a shorter  half life.  Tritium is made by fusing solid  Hydrogen With Lithium  in a Farnsworth reactor.  This also has its problems one major  problem is the radiation and heat that is generated during the process  of fusion. Tritium can be then used as a fuel  pellet for a Nuclear reactor when it is mixed with Deuterium which is a solid. Tritium is also a good fuel pellet because it only has a life span of about 12.4 years, then  it decays into Helium 6 which is very harmless. Uranium on the other hand is not  safe because it has a life span of about 2000 years and it gradually decays into other radioactive material such as Thorium, neptunium, ECT.... This is Called the Uranium - Thorium cycle. The tritium is also ecologically friendly because it  can be made from H1 which is found in water H2O.  H1 is called Portion and is extracted through a process called electrolyses in which water is charged by a D.C current.

alternative to conductive thread.

Ok guys, so i was finishing up a project with my guitar, and i ended up replacing the strings. so i though to myself... what can these be used for. I decided to use them in a project im working on involving a belt, and regular wire would not work well. So, i weaved the guitar string throughout the belt, like you would with conductive thread, and its very very strong, and also flexible. And since its meant to withstand a beating it should last nearly forever. The strings i found to work best are the 3 smallest ones, E B and G, the others are too rigid to bend as much as needed. in the picture that is the third string, so it is more rigid then the first on would be, and i found it to work excellently for what i needed it to.

MP3 input alternative on a stereo

Hi guys, I have a really burning question thats been eating me for a while. Can you put an alternative input on a stereo system to read mp3s? For example i have this stereo that plays mp3s but only has the disk input. This means in order to use it i have to burn the songs i want off my computer on to a disk then i can listen to my music. For those who probably WILL ask, I don't like playing my music off my computer because it's generally really loud, i want to use this in another room as well. My taste in music constantly changes, eventually i will want to remove a couple songs or add new ones. With that said, i want to know if you can remove/replace or add another input system to where a CD reader would be so that it reads a USB input or something. Then music can easily be manipulated to the users liking. As long it's not directly connected to a computer or requires the user to make new copies of the same music that take up space. Thanks!! Alternative scrolling methods

Here's one to challenge your creativity. I read a lot of blogs, engadget, lifehacker etc... and these are mainly long pages of text and images. I've become bored of using a plain ole mouse wheel to scroll down and so i'm looking to make something overall cooler or easier to use. Note the use of OR before reading the next bit. I've had an idea of one method. Get one of those realistic fake cats that breathes and put the scroller in it's back. Then you can cradle it in your arms Dr. No style and stroke it's back, all the while scrolling down a page of your choice. I also thought of somehow making the whole right side of my desk a massive scrollbar, but it would be a bit complicated for my liking. So what do you think? Do you have any good ideas for ways to scroll down a page? Think everyday actions that involve some sort of scrolling motion, and keep it work safe.

Regarding brush cleaners spasifically Poly Clens

Recently me and my dad have run across a problem. http://www.100randomtasks.com/_/rsrc/1307405086575/squeaky-clean-boards/Poly%20Clens%20Can.jpg?height=200&width;=200 Apparently our government has banned the use of Poly Clens By Lepage brand here in Ontario Canada as far as I know. Its a favorite brush cleaner for the both of us and we're both surprised when we heard the news not to mention disappointed.  We both don't understand why its banned since there are far worse brush cleaning methods that are way more harmful to the environment. So are there any other alternatives that some one could recommend that are similar? And please don't recommend varsol est since these just don't compare and are just nasty. Thanks. :)

Alternative Cooling design idea – Southeast moderate to high humidity

I need some serious feedback!  I have an 1896 Victorian, about 3800 sq.ft. but we did it right. Foamed the walls, floors, all new everything; a/c upstairs(2ton) and 5 ton downstairs.  It cools fine, but it's big and with only 3 of us, we only use about 2 rooms most of the time. Practically a new home. I've was studying underground piping for cooling but I have a new though. I can not use swamp coolers because it's to humid in Middle Ga. I have a well that the water is about 49-58 degrees. If I build a box with a cage fan and use small radiators (desinged for this purpose; not auto radiators), to pass the cold well water thru, wouldn't this work to cool the air for a room or two? I would design it to use a thermostat to open a valve when the water reached about 70 degrees and have it to RETURN the water back to the well (have have an opening to do so on the well). What I'm visioning is, the air would pass a hundred or so coils with circulated cold water all the time. I understand I need to also consider humidity dropping and cycle that out. Keep in mind, I'm not talking about passing air over a wet pad. I'm leaning toward passing air over cold coils that might be as deep as 3 feet. I really would like some detailed opinions. I'll email drawing if I have to.  Best regards.  Chris - Macon Ga.

8 Reasons you'll rejoice when we hit $8 a gallon gasoline

This article in MarketWatch written by Chris Pummer mostly matches my opinions. My favorite is #2Here is the text:SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- For one of the nastiest substances on earth, crude oil has an amazing grip on the globe. We all know the stuff's poison, yet we're as dependent on it as our air and water supplies -- which, of course, is what oil is poisoning.Shouldn't we be technologically advanced enough here in the 21st Century to quit siphoning off the pus of the Earth? Regardless whether you believe global warming is threatening the planet's future, you must admit crude is passé. Americans should be celebrating rather than shuddering over the arrival of $4-a-gallon gasoline. We lived on cheap gas too long, failed to innovate and now face the consequences of competing for a finite resource amid fast-expanding global demand.A further price rise as in Europe to $8 a gallon -- or $200 and more to fill a large SUV's tank -- would be a catalyst for economic, political and social change of profound national and global impact. We could face an economic squeeze, but it would be the pain before the gain. The U.S. economy absorbed a tripling in gas prices in the last six years without falling into recession, at least through March. Ravenous demand from China and India could see prices further double in the next few years -- and jumpstart the overdue process of weaning ourselves off fossil fuels.Consider the world of good that would come of pricing crude oil and gasoline at levels that would strain our finances as much as they're straining international relations and the planet's long-term health: 1. RIP for the internal-combustion engineThey may contain computer chips, but the power source for today's cars is little different than that which drove the first Model T 100 years ago. That we're still harnessed to this antiquated technology is testament to Big Oil's influence in Washington and success in squelching advances in fuel efficiency and alternative energy.Given our achievement in getting a giant mainframe's computing power into a handheld device in just a few decades, we should be able to do likewise with these dirty, little rolling power plants that served us well but are overdue for the scrap heap of history.2. Economic stimulusNecessity being the mother of invention, $8 gas would trigger all manner of investment sure to lead to groundbreaking advances. Job creation wouldn't be limited to research labs; it would rapidly spill over into lucrative manufacturing jobs that could help restore America's industrial base and make us a world leader in a critical realm. The most groundbreaking discoveries might still be 25 or more years off, but we won't see massive public and corporate funding of research initiatives until escalating oil costs threaten our national security and global stability -- a time that's fast approaching. 3. Wither the Middle East's cloutThis region that's contributed little to modern civilization exercises inordinate sway over the world because of its one significant contribution -- crude extraction. Aside from ensuring Israel's security, the U.S. would have virtually no strategic or business interest in this volatile, desolate region were it not for oil -- and its radical element wouldn't be able to demonize us as the exploiters of its people. In the near term, breaking our dependence on Middle Eastern oil may well require the acceptance of drilling in the Alaskan wilderness -- with the understanding that costly environmental protections could easily be built into the price of $8 gas. 4. Deflating oil potentatesOn a similar note, Venezuela's Hugo Chavez and Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad recently gained a platform on the world stage because of their nations' sudden oil wealth. Without it, they would face the difficult task of building fair and just economies and societies on some other basis. How far would their message resonate -- and how long would they even stay in power -- if they were unable to buy off the temporary allegiance of their people with vast oil revenues? 5. Mass-transit developmentAnyone accustomed to taking mass transit to work knows the joy of a car-free commute. Yet there have been few major additions or improvements to our mass-transit systems in the last 30 years because cheap gas kept us in our cars. Confronted with $8 gas, millions of Americans would board buses, trains, ferries and bicycles and minimize the pollution, congestion and anxiety spawned by rush-hour traffic jams. More convenient routes and scheduling would accomplish that.6. An antidote to sprawlThe recent housing boom sparked further development of antiseptic, strip-mall communities in distant outlying areas. Making 100-mile-plus roundtrip commutes costlier will spur construction of more space-efficient housing closer to city centers, including cluster developments to accommodate the millions of baby boomers who will no longer need their big empty-nest suburban homes.Sure, there's plenty of land left to develop across our fruited plains, but building more housing around city and town centers will enhance the sense of community lacking in cookie-cutter developments slapped up in the hinterlands. 7. Restoration of financial disciplineFar too many Americans live beyond their means and nowhere is that more apparent than with our car payments. Enabled by eager lenders, many middle-income families carry two monthly payments of $400 or more on $20,000-plus vehicles that consume upwards of $15,000 of their annual take-home pay factoring in insurance, maintenance and gas.The sting of forking over $100 per fill-up would force all of us to look hard at how much of our precious income we blow on a transport vehicle that sits idle most of the time, and spur demand for the less-costly and more fuel-efficient small sedans and hatchbacks that Europeans have been driving for decades. 8. Easing global tensionsUnfortunately, we human beings aren't so far evolved that we won't resort to annihilating each other over energy resources. The existence of weapons of mass destruction aside, the present Iraq War could be the first of many sparked by competition for oil supplies.Steep prices will not only chill demand in the U.S., they will more importantly slow China and India's headlong rush to make the same mistakes we did in rapidly industrializing -- like selling $2,500 Tata cars to countless millions of Indians with little concern for the environmental consequences. If we succeed in developing viable energy alternatives, they could be a key export in helping us improve our balance of trade with consumer-goods producers. Additional considerationsWeaning ourselves off crude will hopefully be the crowning achievement that marks the progress of humankind in the 21st Century. With it may come development of oil-free products to replace the chemicals, pharmaceuticals, plastics, fertilizers and pesticides that now consume 16% of the world's crude-oil output and are likely culprits in fast-rising cancer rates.By its very definition, oil is crude. It's time we develop more refined energy sources and that will not happen without a cost-driven shift in demand.

Texas Windpower = Big Money

Texas is now far ahead of California, and the rest of the country, in production of wind power. From the NYTimes:Texas, once the oil capital of North America, is rapidly turning into the capital of wind power. After breakneck growth the last three years, Texas has reached the point that more than 3 percent of its electricity, enough to supply power to one million homes, comes from wind turbines.Texans are even turning tapped-out oil fields into wind farms.

Amatuer experiment Contest! How high can an aquarium airpump pump water? Mini airlift pump.

I believe that many bubble pumps for aquariums can bubble the air about 2ft deep under water.  So if you use the air bubbler as part of an airlift pump, how high can you pump?  Here is a link about airlift pumps http://www.animatedsoftware.com/pumpglos/air_lift.htm (unfortunately the wikipedia airlift pump entry is commercial spam). Anyway, the aquarium air pump I used produces about 2 liters of air per minute (so not so much). So here are the contest rules.  Your airlift pump has maximum submergence of 2 ft.  You must use a T-Joint to introduce the air and you use an appropriate pipe diameter to airlift the water higher. The height pumped is measured from the top of the water in the water reservoir to the top of the airlift pipe and the submergence is measured from the top of the water in the water reservoir to where air enters the T-Joint. So, winner and Instructables world record holder is  the person who pumps water highest under these conditions. I will start with my example. Thats pretty much as high as I will go but if you have a suitable area, I think you might beat me! Competition is ongoing. Best of luck Brian

Printed Batteries Provide Paper-Thin Power.

Check this out! A team of German scientists has invented the world's first printable batteries. Thin, flexible and environmentally friendly, the batteries can be produced in large quantities for a fraction of what it takes to produce conventional batteries. The new battery is also different in other ways from conventional batteries. The printable version weighs less than one gram on the scales, is not even one millimeter thick and can therefore be integrated into bank cash cards. The battery contains no mercury and is in this respect environmentally friendly. Its voltage is 1.5 V, which lies within the normal range. By placing several batteries in a row, voltages of 3 V, 4.5 V and 6 V can also be achieved. The new battery was developed by a research team led by Dr. Reinhard Baumann of the Fraunhofer Research Institution for Electronic Nano Systems ENAS in Chemnitz, Germany. "Our goal is to be able to mass produce the batteries at a price of single digit cent range each," states Dr. Andreas Willert, group manager at ENAS. The batteries are printed using a silk-screen printing method similar to that used for t-shirts and posters. A kind of rubber lip presses the printing paste through a screen onto the substrate. A template covers the areas that are not to be printed on. Through this process it is possible to apply comparatively large quantities of printing paste, and the individual layers are slightly thicker than a hair. Therefore, the battery is suitable for applications which have a limited life span or a limited power requirement, for instance greeting cards. The researchers have already produced the batteries on a laboratory scale. At the end of this year, the first products could possibly be finished.

Higher efficiency (high amp) 12V regulator alternative to 7812

I need a high efficiency 12V DC regulator to supply my thermoelectric modules (they're very inexpensive so I had no choice but to use them). I found that the modules are most efficient at 12V @ ~7A each. I could use many 7812s in parallel but they are too inefficient and too much energy is lost to heat. Is there any alternative? Electricity bills are going up so it'd be very good if I can find an extremely efficient step-down or step-up regulator, short of using an expensive 'gold standard' ATX PSU (which are usually upwards of 500W so the power savings don't matter).

Solar "Generator"

Since I've always wanted to do something like this and I found this site, it's about to happen! I found a smaller version with what I wanted to do at Popular Science but I want to do something on a larger scale. I do have some questions though that I'm hoping someone can answer or point me in the correct direction.I'm going to describe what I'm doing with what and what I have questions with.I'm going to be buying this solar panel and charge controller kit. Sunforce Solar Panel With Charge ControllerA deep cycle 115 AMP Hour 12 V marine battery from Wal-Mart with Plastic Battery caseSalvaged wood Toy BoxMeter Question: How to meter how many amp hours I have left or how charged the battery is? What kind of meter to buy? Where? (not too expensive <20 bucks or so) how to hook it up.A 12 V accessory outlet with on off switch Question: I'm putting an inline fuse before the switch, 15A the line fuse goes on the + (positive) side correct?A 700 Watt 6.25 AMP DC to AC converter with 4 outlets connected to it. Question: can I put a breaker or fuse between the 4 outlets I'm going to be plugging into on the outside and the plug being plugged into the DC to AC converter? If so how?USB ports for charging with on off switch. Question: how do I convert the 12V to 5V in an easy way? I've seen some creative ideas on here for charging VIA salvaged USB ports but I don't want to have to hook it up to my power inverter if I don't have to. Cooling/ventilation for the entire thing. Any ideas how I might cool/vent it? Currently I'm thinking of using old computer fans and put them on both sides of the toy box and have 2 blowing and 2 blowing out. Having the fans run off of the solar panel during the day and either have a switch to change it to battery at night (if it's too warm in the house) or maybe photo sense it? Temp sensor to turn it on and off? Or a switch to turn it off completely. I'm just looking for idea's to keep the battery (and to expand to be more than one battery) cool/ventilated. If you have examples or detailed description on how to do it that'd be great. I'm not one to steal ideas so I'll credit the idea's I'm given if I use them =)I'm going to see how much I can run off of this and how long. Hopefully save some big time energy also! Thanks all!

Engine Cumbustion & Etc.

I've been knocking around an idea in my head and I was wondering if anyone had an answer to a few problems associated with said idea. One of the problems/road-blocks is how do modern cars run? More specifically, is the gasoline that goes into the pistons for combustion an actual air/gas mixture, or is it air/liquid-gasoline? And is there a way to manually adjust the ratio of air-to-combustible? The reason I ask is because I was hypothesizing whether or not it would be feasible to replace gasoline with a more efficient combustible, and this combustible would greatly depend on what is actually put into a modern petroleum-based car engine's pistons. Thanks for any info!

Cars running on vegetable oil regulated

The man is really bringing me down here...Drivers of SVO (straight vegetable oil) fueled cars are running afoul of the law.Not too long ago, cars that ran on leftover vegetable oil were rare, a curiosity. But now that lots of people are buying kits and hiring mechanics to mod their cars to run on french fry juice, the government is starting to take notice. Drivers of these cars now have to pay the same taxes as traditional fuel drivers, register with the state, file monthly reports and payments, as well as make sure they are in compliance with local environmental laws. Noncompliance will be punished with stiff fines.

Help!! Hydro power

Hello! I need step by step instructions which shows how to build a hydro power system. I have to do this for a small hostel in the mountains. It needs to make 12v atleast and will use a alternator.I will need lots of help from you guys to build it all.Particulatly on the runner(what type for best efficiency, how to build it, cost, tools)and on the housing for the turbine(what material to use,it will have to be very durable and strong).I am an electronics expert so no need to explain to me what is what. Include a circuit which can charge a 12v battery bank . I am aware how a rectifier can be used to convert the alternator's AC to DC.I would like the rectifier circuit too.Added bonus if you show me how to make a housing for the turbine. Also I would like a homemade charge controller circuit too.The controller will have to have dump load options as well.If you can give a good way to water proof the whole thing... Kudos to you I will need all the plans for this project Alternator, Charge controller ,Blades, How to best wire battery bank etc. Please explain what materials to use etc. And please be aware this will be a rather low budget project.I prefer maximum efficiency and please do not worry yourself about where i will get flowing water etc.And please post your own pics if possible. It may not be possible for me to use power tools and a welder,I prefer simple tools, if not, no problem.

Alternator use and output

Hail the reader and Bless the respondent. please can someone tell me the following 1. At what speed must a normal vehicle alternator turn to give max output... and what is this out put... I see my charge meter shows it charging at 10 amps... how long to fill the battery at 10 amps? 2. A pack of 6 12v truck batteries connected to make 1 big 12 volt battery... is it possible to charge this pack from more than 1 alternator and will it speed up the charge time to make the battery full to max?

Installing a sub in a car

I had the idea to put a sub in my car. i bought everything (sub+amp). But first I tried to wired it in my car, my friend told me to look at my alternator to see if he could take the load. My amp and subs are 600W rms. So I,ve look at the specification of my car....my alternator is an 80 amp. Its the only thing about alternator I saw in a lot of diffent specs.\ So. 80 amp alternator 600W rms amp 600W rms sub Could my alternator could take the load???? thanks!

How do car alternators work?

I am working on way to charge electronics at long festivals.  There is no electricity and then my camera dies.  My solution is to bring a car battery and charge USB devices using car power/usb power adapter. My questions is about charging car batteries.  I noticed that the highest charge setting on my wall-power car charger is 6 amps.  A car alternator on the other hand supplies 65 amps.  Why such a huge difference?  When you jump start dead car battery and then charge the battery with the car running the alternator is the battery really charging at 65 amps?  That is 10 times more current than from a wall charger.

Need help making a permanent magnet alternator

Hi - I have need of a small electric motor, and came across something called an altermotor.  This is a converted car alternator that requires a permanent magnet rotor assembly, the removal of the diode pack and a controller.  This is also supposed to be good for up to 4HP off 12V.  I've worked out everything but how to make the permanent magnet rotor.  Does anyone know how to do this?  I'd like to do this with high quality neo magnets, preferably with more than 12 bar magnets.  A car's alternator is the perfect size for the application, which is to run an air conditioner compressor for an electric car conversion.  A single 12V deep cycle battery would be able to run this allowing me to have air without cutting vehicle range since it would be able to operate off its own power system this way.  I'm not set on using a converted alternator though, if anyone knows a suitable 12V motor about the same size as an alternator that can produce at least 1HP and spin at least 2000RPM.

Glass alternative

I have a large map (55" x 40") that I am building a frame for, yet there's no way I can afford a piece of glass this large and am looking for cheap alternatives. I am aware of plexiglass, but am wondering if there is anything else out there. My last ditch resort is to laminate it, but do not like that idea to much for aesthetic reasons. Thanks

Chest Wrapping- Bra Alternative

I've heard of Japanese chest wrapping called Sarashi but I know there are other techniques for wrapping. This is an alternative to conventional bras using a long, thin strip of fabric that is wrapped around the bust in a particular pattern in a way that supports the bust but is also breathable and comfortable. I know this exists but I can't find anyone who knows anything about it! I know so many women who are frustrated with their bras. If you could help you would be doing so many women a favor.

How would I go about making an alternator?

I was thinking about making a small wind mill to charge my ipod and phone. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to do this. My dad says that I could reverse the magnets on a fan and that if the fan blade spun, the power would go into what ever I wired it up too. Would this actually work?

Alternative links for iPad and iPhone users

It would be helpful if there was an alternative way to go to links on an iPad, since on it you can't do roll over functions. It is a great feature when on the computer, but when on a touch device it clicks on the general category rather than the whole drop down list, if you know what I mean. It just doesnt do the "roll over" function.

Alternative to a strimmer (weedw[h]acker)?

When my electric lawnmower eventually, irreparably died, I replaced it with a manual cylinder mower. My strimmer is now due to be retired. Is there a manual version of a strimmer, apart from a pair of shears?

Electricity Recycler? Stupid Question?

I was laying in bed a few minutes ago thinking about my idea to change the world, as i do every night before bed. I thought why can't or hasn't anyone made a electricity recycling generator? like why can't you take say..... a car alternator and make it produce enough electricity to run a small motor to spin the alternator as well as have enough energy left over to power devices? and then why couldn't this theory be applied to large scale generators? or why couldn't you electricly power a vehicle and somehow turn the wheels into basically 4 big alternators that generate power for the vehicle? going back to the alternator idea, is there no way to make an alternator type generator to use say 25 - 50% of its generated power to power itself and the other 50% to power devices? please point out the flaws its hurting my brain

Tip31 Transistor alternatives

I teach middle school science, and I'm helping a small group of keen students work on DIY projects.  One of the students wants to try this: https://www.instructables.com/id/Music-LED-Light-Box/ It calls for a Tip31 Transistor, which is proving difficult to find, at least in Canada.  The comments section suggests at one point that any NPN transistor will do. Can anyone confirm this?  Or can you suggest more readily available alternatives? Thanks!

No category for environment or alternative power?

Well I just submitted my first instructable under the new organization, it may be my last. There doesn't seem to be a "category" or "channel" or whatever silly thing that covers things like environmental science or alternative power source or most of the 20+ instructables I have posted. Anybody else feeling left out? Since I must now apparently put in mandatory keywords for community posts I used the keyword "unhappy author"...

PMA ALTERNATOR AND ROTOR

Hello to all, I recently purchased a Permanent magnet alternator that will produce 12 volts at 150 rpm. I have already made my own 31 anches blades (3 blades), got a hub out of an old air aconditioning unit, but the problem is that this hub has the blade mounting angles in the opposite way...in another words it will spin counter clock wise :( Will this afect the energy output??? I would really appreciate any help on this project... Thanks in advance. Feliperey

Non-Arduino Solar Charger

Do you think there is a great alternative to the current solar charger? Today, there are many DIY Solar Chargers that are alternatives to the current commercial products. Do you think there is a better design for a solar charger that is not run by an arduino?

How to live an alternative Life

Econd Life has become the phenomenon of the last year, although it opened his doors in 2003. Controversial by several reasons and with great possibilities, their creators maintain that it counts with more than two million users. The certain thing is that it offers a parallel life to everyone who wants to enter.Second Life has become an alternative reality, a full virtual world of possibilities in which the user can create a character and relate there with the rest of the users who also have chosen to enter.read more

Collaberation Home Heating Effort

I'd like to start a collaborated effort for alternatives to heating a home for this winter. With the rising costs its all on our radar. Right now I'm looking at a solar air heater Solar Heater to make full instructions plus cost effective. I want to be able to do a water solar heater also but don't quite have the knowledge on getting something together. Possibly also other alternatives. Alternatives such as a permanent mount, portable, and all season benefit. Anyone up for it?

Please help me solve this led thought

Hey every one I'm a tinker'er and well a dork lol . I am trying to make a device and I have 90% OF IT finalized .I wont fully explain what I am trying to build but i will give you a break down . enclosure box that holds 9 volt battery , brought down to 6 volts send through sound sensor  release 6 volts out . 2    3.3 leds   under powered at 3.0 each here's wjhat im trying to do = get leds to be independtly lit . I was thinking of using 2 sound sensors at different "levels" so it would throw the leds at different times . leds would be on oposite sides of the project box ... But wondering if there is a better way to use one sensor and allow both leds to alternate / also possible alternate duration . the effect im trying to get is lets say your in a 0 lite room turn this on and based on sound levels it would throw leds almost like lightning ??? it would have to alternate sides and alternate extend of liting times . Hope this is making sense :/

New ball alternator

Hey I was thinking about having a new ball alternator well at least a idea. I made a model on this knex modeling thing. Well how It SHOULD work is that it is encased in a cage where the ball falls down and a motor will be turning the fan like things. Underneath the fan there might be 1-4 ball path. The fan will move and thus it will make the ball fall randomly in one of the 4 paths. I'm running out of pieces and I don't want to take apart my ball machine that i'm making so you guys can try to make this is you want. It might also be hard to see the yellow rod behind the red one.

Natural alternatives for insecticides?

I know its a bit early but the early bird gets the worm!!! In my area pesticides are banned for use on personal gardens and lawns for about 2 years now. Last year my poor peach tree really didn’t have any edible and or usable peaches on my tree because of infestations of bugs. I was wandering if any of you knowledgeable people could direct me on what kind of natural insecticides I could use in the future for my peach tree?so I can at least have some edible peaches for eats and jam. The squirrels usually take their share too. *darn little buggers!!!* Thanks. :)

how to create high voltage projects (alternative to arduino and 8085 kit)

Hi, I had been working on Arduino and 8085 microprocessor kit. However there are used for low voltage projects. Can someone tell me how to create high voltage projects say creating a vending machine , moving a  door, programming for a high voltage ac/dc motor etc. Thanks

Alternative clock-Mechanical

I need to build a device for a competition that can measure time acurate to the tenth of a second, but from its starting position it must be no more than 30cm in dimension, but can exceed that once it begins.  Even if you know of something that can do seconds that would be fantastic.  If you have any ideas or places to find plans please do tell.  IT CANNOT USE ELECTRICITY

An Alternative K'NEX Gun Site...?

After working on and publishing my new site, I thought that it would be kinda cool to make a K'NEX gun site. How many people are interested? Obviously, I would not bother to make it if nobody is interested, but if people were interested, I would be more than happy to make it. I just want to gauge interest. -The Red Book of Westmarch

Team Builds a Tank from Two Tractors!

I was looking at the referrals for my Airsoft Trip Mine instructable, and was led to this site: http://www.x7og.net/. Faced with a long list of forums, I browsed under the "Alternative Weapons" category, hoping to find a post containing my trip mine (haven't found it yet). What I found, however, can only be described as the epitome of pure DIY paintball awesomeness. A team of people built a working paintball tank out of tractor parts and various other things. It's so epic, I just had to show it to you all. Here is the forum that documents the making of the tank:http://www.x7og.net/alternative-weapons/13294-fbk-tank-ny.htmlEdit:Woohoo! My mine was mentioned twice! :D http://www.x7og.net/alternative-weapons/18028-need-design-baby-powder-pressure-mine-2.htmlEdit Edit:Goodness me! More tanks! http://www.x7og.net/alternative-weapons/5438-paintball-assault-vehicles-thread.html
