purple martin feeder

I require help in building a cannon to fire dead crickets and mealworms into the air about 25 to 30 feet so i may feed the purple martins in my area. they only feed on the wing and winter will surely kill the colonies in my area. any help will be appreciated.

Remy Martin game????? Answered

We have been having a bit of a clear out & been selling a few bits on eBay but before I listed this I thought I had better have a go at confirming my idea as to what it is actually for. My better half & I picked it up with a bunch of other stuff when we had our pub, it had no box, instructions or anything else with it & to tell the truth it has sat on various shelves gathering dust ever since. I think it is a connect four type game but I have had various suggestions made with other theories varying from some sort of score counter to an indoor bowling kind of like thing?!?!?!?! Maybe?????! Duh? I have had a bit of a browse around the interweb & found nothing; I looked on the Remy Martin web site, again nothing. As there is nothing in the pictures to give any scale I will say the box is a little over 11 inches long & 8.5 inches high when opened it has a total of  34 balls 17 each of dark & light wood & a tray at the bottom of the slots which releases the balls when removed. So what do all you clever people have to say about it? I am open to ideas & theories but what I would really like is some sort of evidence to back your ideas up.

Glen Martin antenna lift system rides on tracks up the side of 45G tower for wireless internet antennas, brings them to the ground to work on them

Its a real cool system that will lift your antennas up and down the side of 45G tower sections so you don't have to climb it all the time to service or change out your antennas. No more climbing once this system is installed. There is enough track to go up 90ft. Its all aluminum and stainless material with some of the cart galvinized. Its all heavy duty and it was built by Glen Martin tower company. I used it a little for my ham radio antennas. Im out of Ham Radio and so Im selling it. Its would be a great thing to use for your internet wirless antenna station. $1900 for all of it.

Jetpack flies at AirVenture

The Martin Jetpack made its first public flight while at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2008 on Tuesday. The actual flight lasted seconds and was confined to a few feet off the ground, with handlers gripping the device even as 16-year-old Harrison Martin manipulated the controls. The Martin Jetpack team is scheduled to conclude Thursday's air show with another flight at the mouth of AeroShell Square. More air show flights may take place later in the week as well.Today this jetpack was demonstrated at EAA AirVenture. It seems like the closest thing yet to one that is actually marketable: it has flown a demonstration flight in public, and a CNN reporter was able to handle it after minimal training. Rather than a finicky rocket that burns hydrogen peroxide, it uses a gasoline V-4. LED Decade Counter IC?

Help me light some LEDs with an IC. Is there a simple 10-stage counter IC, just like the 4017, but where the outputs stay high until the chip resets. So the output would be as following: 1000000000 1100000000 1110000000 1111000000 1111100000 1111110000 1111111000 1111111100 1111111110 1111111111 and then repeat I'm building a circuit where the number of lit LEDs constantly increase. Do you know of a chip that can do this? Or can it only be achieved with a PIC? Thanks in advance Martin

UK hacked car takes speed record off Americans.

Just over a year ago, the BBC had a coffee-powered car built, along the lines of this popular instructable. Now, that same car has been used to set a new speed record for a gasification-powered car, previously set at 47mph by Beaver Energy, using a car run on gasified wood-chips. With his car running coffee grounds, engineer Martin Bacon and his team from County Durham. pushed the record up to 65mph, an official Guinness Record, although it falls short of the team's goal of 80mph. American Corporations Own UK Nuclear Deterrant

The (British) government has sold its last remaining shares in the Aldermaston Atomic Weapons Establishment in Berkshire to an American company.The fee paid by California-based Jacobs Engineering has not been disclosed.The sale of British Nuclear Fuels' stake means Jacobs has control of one third of Aldermaston's operating company, AWE Management.The other two thirds were already in private hands. Help with making a wind up mechanism for a large piece

I need to make a wind up mechanism for a large laser cut piece measuring 1m by 0.5m. I'm happy to try make, buy out right or re-use one from another item, any suggestions are welcome. I have attached a simple diagram of the kind of motion I am after - the idea being that a a few twists of the wind up mechanism will spin the gears and wheels for 5-10 seconds or longer if possible! The motion is only decorative and the wheels and cogs would be made from laser cut plywood 6-9mm thick. This will go in the background of an illustrative, laser cut sign made up from layers of laser cut plywood, my work can be found here - www.tomsky.co.uk . I am a beginner at this, so would gladly welcome to any suggestions, resources or alternatives to creating this kind of motion! The only thing is that it needs to be physical, old fashioned mechanics rather than using any kind of motor. Thanks! Martin

How much would you sacrifice...

...to do what's right? ...Would you walk everywhere to boycott an unfair bus system? (let's assume we all ride the bus) ...Would you take on the position of leading a movement for democracy in a country that you could could easily be assassinated in for doing it? ...Would you give up everything to fight for what is right? People who have answered yes to questions like these have gotten the modern world to where we are today. People who have answered yes to questions like these are improving the undeveloped world. Would you? If the occasion came that you were best fit to take on a position like Martin Luther King Jr. did, would you accept? IoT data logger for large file transfers - what protocol to use? (FTP, HTTP, MQTT, …)

Hi there, We manufacture CAN bus data loggers for use in e.g. cars, trucks etc.The logger records data to an SD card. When the logger is in range of a WiFi/Cellular hotspot, it will start pushing the data to a specified server. The files will be ½-20 MB in size and need to be transferred frequently (e.g. every few seconds). A user can have 100-300 loggers deployed, all sending data to the server simultaneously. Today, we handle this using the FTP protocol. It’s been a simple solution that most users understand.However, we fear it’s not future proof and we’d like to look into other options (e.g. HTTP, MQTT) - in particular also to enable easy transfers to e.g. Amazon/Google cloud servers.A few questions that we’d like input on:What do you believe would be the best protocol for the case described above? Do you have any examples of use cases, APIs, open source code etc. in such applications? If we switch from FTP to another protocol, is there a way to keep it simple for our “less techy” users that do not use e.g. Amazon/Google servers, but just their own PCs?Thanks a ton for your inputs! How to connect a PS/2 keyboard to a USB port? Answered

I have a Logitech 250 keyboard with a PS/2 connector and would like to connect it to a USB port on my laptop. I bought a keyboard PS/2 to USB adapter, but it did not work. So, I bought a combined keyboard/mouse PS/2 to USB adpater and this did work. I no longer have it and it was quite bulky. So, I bought a USB plug, cut the PS/2 connector off the cable and carefully soldered the USB plug in its place. I checked the colour coding of the wires inside the keyboard: Vcc + is red, Data 1 is yellow, Data 2 is green, 0 v is white and Screen is black. I looked up the USB pin outs on Wikipedia and made sure that the Vcc and O v wires were in the correct positions on the USB plug by carefully metering the pins on the laptop USB port. I tried connecting the yellow wire to pin 2 and green wire to pin 3 on the USB plug and the reverse, but neither worked. Logitech support offered me a discount on a USB keyboard, but I'm intrigued to know why it does not work, when the combined keyboard/mouse PS/2 to USB adpater did work. Can anyone enlighten me and hopefully tell me how to make it work?

Michigan Tech University has opened a 3D printing contest: Printers for Peace! They are challenging the 3D printing community to design things that advance the cause of peace. This is an open-ended contest, but if you’d like some ideas, ask yourself what Mother Theresa, Martin Luther King, or Gandhi would make if they’d had access to 3D printing! Prizes:   1st Prize Fully assembled, open-source Type A Machines Series 1 3D Printer The Series 1 recently won best in class in the Make: Ultimate Guide to 3-D Printing. It has a 9-by-9-by-9-inch build volume, prints at 90mm/sec in PLA, ABS and PVA with 0.1mm resolution. 2nd Prize Michigan Tech’s MOST version of the RepRap Prusa Mendel open-source 3D printer kit The RepRap can be built in a weekend. Visiting the ATX Hackerspace

I decided to visit austin, TX on my most recent vacation. While i was there i decided to drop in on the ATX hackerspace. The hackerspace is just over a year old but already has a large community. The space is located in an office park which makes it almost hidden if it weren't for the wicked bat logo As i came into the space, they were holding their weekly meeting, Once the meeting was over the crowd of about 30 people broke into a cacophony of geeky projects. A few people bent over a mysterious box trying to determine it's purpose. Another used the industrial sewing machine to create professional looking leatherwork. There were many other "newbies" to the space, who were given the low down by the night's host, Martin. The space is impressive given they have been at the current location for only 2 months. It has a lot of potential to be a powerhouse of awesome projects. What is interesting, is that the hackerspace (unlike most) is a for profit. That means it can bring in money and make money. This means if they want to build kits and sell them to benefit the space, its perfectly fine under the law. I work a lot with non-profit entities so its interesting to see this model I must say though, ATX hackerspace has one of the coolest logos i've seen. Thanks ATX for your hospitality and showing me around! Hope you enjoyed the stickers! Go visit! Desktops of August

Hello all! This month would of been held by gmjhowe but he is very busy with moving into his new house right now so is unable to. Ahh, August is my favourite of the months seeing as MY BIRTHDAY is in it also school/ college is out and I've got a nice long relaxing summer to look forward to.What are you all waiting for, Get printscreening and show off your desktop. Don't be shy!To take a picture of your desktop on a windows machine use the printscreen key on your keyboard, Open up paint, Edit, Paste and then save this as a png. then upload this onto Instructables.To take a screenshot on a mac use the apple key, Shift and 3. This will save the picture to your desktop then you can upload it to Instructables.To take a screenshot in Linux go to Applications>Accessories>Take screenshot. If this doesn't work blame Lithium Rain ;-)Right, for mine on my EeePC this month I'm using the Kupo-Finale Visual Style from lassekongo83.For my wallpaper this month I had a nice change for me, A nice bit of Banksy. I love his work I have quite a collection of wallpapers from Banksy so I may alternate throughout the month.The icon set is yet again is Dark Theme for IconTweaker which is a free program to change your icons. I may change the icon set next month ;)What are you all waiting for, Get them on here and if you haven't changed it from last month change it NOW and post it up!Peace out!
