The "No-Fly List" makes us LESS secure
Published May 16, 2002, The Carnival Booth paper demonstrates how our security measures like the No-Fly List make our flights very insecure.
...In this paper, we show that since CAPS uses profiles to select passengers for increased scrutiny, it is actually less secure than systems that employ random searches. In particular, we present an algorithm called Carnival Booth that demonstrates how a terrorist cell can defeat the CAPS system.....

Has there not been a more recent paper on the subject - that's over 7 years old? L

Yes, the recent issue of "The 2600" has an article about it, and how the same condition still exists for the No-fly list. It shows that one can still, with little effort, walk right through security as a terrorist, while innocent people are pulled aside and rifled.
