Well it is a fast food restaurant, so I'd assume that perhaps the most important reason is that it takes too long to cook. Hamburgers can be a fraction of an inch thin, so they heat up very quickly on a griddle. Hot dogs are much thicker, so the end result would be fast food that isn't fast at all.

Ray Kroc did not like them. But some McDonalds stores have sold hotdogs.

Because they would need to install a whole new range of cooking devices (the eggs in McMuffins are just cooked on the grills with the lid left up).
