is it possible to connect an xBee to 4 servos and a tank chassis and control it on a computer? Answered

Im building an RC tank whit an 4 dof robot arm on it, can I control the whole thing on my computer using an xbee on my tank and one on my computer? and if so what do I have to download on my computer to control it?

You put a uP on your tank and decide what number or letter will cause what action in response to you sending it like any RS232 signal by typing a key or several keys, like S=>stop, R1=>creep backward, F9=>forward top speed,

TL2 =>turn left 2 degrees, etc,etc..

Later you could use a mouse as the control or a Joystick.

Do you understand how the xBee works? or rather what it does?

It sends serial data. That data could be any pattern of 1 and 0.

If you send ASCII then it is easy to make that pattern into letters ABC etc.

You need as others have said to translate the pattern into the action you need. A microprocessor is the "easiest way."

Start with simple experiments and build up - Read a LOT.

You need to have a couple of micro controllers to git something like that working. It will take a lot more then just a bit of software on your PC t make it all work.
